General Operation
1. Sterilize the thermometer stem by inserting it into an appropriate solution such as boiling water for several minutes.
2. Press the “Ent” (Enter) button to turn the thermometer on. The upper display shows the current temperature. The lower LCD shows dashes.
3. The thermometer is set to measure temperature in Fahrenheit. Press the “F/C” button to switch to Celsius.
4. Press the “Ent” button to access the Candy/Food Selection screen. The lower LCD screen displays a food type and a target temperature for that particular food. The target temperature digits will flash, indicating the unit is in Candy/Food Selection mode.
5. Press the “+” or “-” button to scroll through the candy/food types and their preprogrammed temperatures. (See the temperature chart towards the end of the manual for preprogrammed cooking temperatures).
6. Press “Ent” to select the displayed food. The temperature digits will stop flashing.
7. Use caution while handling the thermometer to avoid burns or other injury. Always wear a heat-resistant glove when touching the thermometer during or after use. Do not use a wet or damp cloth. DO NOT TOUCH WITH BARE HANDS!
8. Clip the thermometer on the side of the pan. The thermometer tip should be at least 2 1/2" into the liquid. Do not let the tip of the stem touch the bottom of the pan. Take care when moving the thermometer stem into position to avoid injury or damage.
9. When the liquid has reached the programmed temperature, the unit will begin to beep.
10. Press the “Ent” button to stop the alarm. Otherwise, the unit will beep for 5 minutes, then the alarm will automatically turn off. If the temperature changes again within 3 minutes, the alarm will sound for another 5 minutes as another temperature alert warning.
11. Press and hold the “Ent” button for 3 seconds to turn the unit off. Otherwise, it will turn off automatically when the temperature reading falls below 120°F for longer than 5 minutes.
Battery Replacement
The thermometer operates on one CR2032 lithium battery (as installed). If readings grow dim or irregular, the battery may need to be replaced. To replace the battery:
1. Gently pull off the silicone backing under the base of the thermometer head.
2. Loosen the screws located inside the holes in the base/stem part of the thermometer (The screws will not come all the way out).
3. Gently pull the base/stem part of the thermometer from the thermometer head. Do not pull forcefully, as the wires inside the thermometer may detach.
4. Remove the screw that secures the metallic battery cover. Gently remove the battery cover. (Take care not to misplace the screw.)
5. Replace the old battery with the new battery, with the “+” sign showing.
6. Replace the battery cover (the 2 tabs opposite the screw hole should tuck under the black plastic casing). Replace the battery cover screw.
7. Gently push the thermometer head and base back together until the pieces click securely in place.
8. Replace the screws in the holes under the base of the thermometer.
9. Replace the silicone backing. The thermometer is ready for use.

4. DO NOT immerse the thermometer head in liquid, or pour liquid directly on the thermometer head, as doing so will cause damage to internal components and void the warranty. If you spill liquid on it, dry it immediately with a soft, lintfree cloth.
5. DO NOT wash in a dishwasher. This unit is not dishwasher safe. Damage will void warranty. Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Grease or other hard-to remove soil can be removed with a scouring pad. DO NOT clean the unit with abrasive or corrosive materials. This may scratch the plastic parts and corrode the electronic circuits.
6. DO NOT use this thermometer in a microwave oven.
7. DO NOT tamper with the unit's internal components. Doing so will invalidate the warranty on this unit and may cause damage. Other than replacing the battery, the unit contains no user-serviceable parts.
8. DO NOT subject the unit to excessive force, shock, dust, temperature or humidity. This may result in malfunction, shorter electronic life span, damaged battery and distorted parts.
9. Do not expose the thermometer head to: water, direct heat, a hot surface or direct sunlight. This may cause damage to the plastic casing or the electric circuits and components inside.
10. Do not dispose of batteries in fire. Batteries may explode or leak. Remove the battery if the thermometer will not be used for a long period of time.
