CARE AND MAINTENANCE
General Care:
Minimum care is required to ensure smooth operation of your mower.
To avoid damage to the mower or cutting blades, keep the area to be mowed free from any debris.
For best results, regularly apply oil or lubricant to the mower’s cutting surfaces, cutting reel axle shaft and wheels.
Sharpening the cutting blades:
1. Spread a thin layer of lapping compound on the front edge of the reel blades.
2.
Adjust the cutter bar so that the blade has light but firm contact across the full width of the cutter bar.
Caution: Do not overtighten the adjusting screws, as this could damage the cutter bar. Tighten both screws

3. Turn the reel blades backwards until the front edge of the cutter bar blade is polished.
NOTE: Clean any grinding compound or debris from the cutter bar blade, reel blade, pinions, and pawls.

ASSEMBLING THE HANDLE: (Fig.1)
NOTE: Do not completely tighten bolts until assembly is complete.
1. Insert the two center handle pieces (2) into the left and right side of the top handle (1) and secure with two
1-3/8in. bolt
2. Connect the right lower handle (4) with the left lower handle (3) and secure with two 1-3/8in. bolts (6), flat
washer (7) and wing nuts
3. Attach the top handle subassembly previously assembled, to the lower handle subassembly using four
1-3/8in. bolts (6),flat washer (7) and wing nuts (8) provided.
4. Tighten all the wing nuts on the joints of the handle assembly.

1. Align holes (1) at the lower end of each handle arm with short posts (2) extending from

mower base side plates. Slide lower ends of handle arms onto posts.
2. After handle arm holes are on posts, use pliers to snap C-clips (1) onto the slotted (2)
posts on both sides to secure handle.

Assembling and attaching the rear bag: (Fig. 3, 4, 5 and 6)
1. Layout all components in the packaging.
2. Open all hook and loop seams on the grass bag and place the frame into position and fold hook and loop
seams back together. (Fig
3. Remove pre-installed wing nuts (1). Install center bar (2) over top of threading (3) and reinstall the wing nuts (1) securing
the center bar in place. (Fig. 4)
4 . Place hook of rear attachment hook (4) to the frame of the bag corners (Fig. 5).
5. Place locking strap (5) from the rear bar of the bag to the center bar of the middle handle. Adjust strap for
proper height so the bag does not rub the ground while mowing or transporting (Fig.6).

Misalignment can occur, often caused by blades being too loose or too tight. This can cause an uneven cut
or difficulty pushing the mower.
Each end of the cutting bar is adjusted separately.
To move the blades closer to the cutting bar turn the adjustment nuts clockwise. To move the blades away from the
cutting bar turn the adjustment nuts counterclockwise.
In order to perform this adjustment you must first loosen the upper lock nut located between the front and

CHECKING THE ADJUSTMENT
1.
Turn mower upside down.

Insert a piece of paper between the cutter bar and the reel blades, and carefully turn the wheel by hand to slowly spin

If the mower has an intermittent cut, make adjustments to the appropriate side to attain proper cutting action.
