1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Precautions, Care & Maintenance
WARNING: Read and save these instructions!
Safety may be jeopardized if the equipment is used in a manner not speci­fied by the manufacturer. Carefully read and keep the following instruc­tions for future reference.
• Although fuses at the input and outputs of the controller protect its circuits in case of an overload or overvoltage, we recommend installing an additional protection device on the controller's supply circuit.
• The room temperature where the controller is located must always remain between 32 °F and 104 °F (0 °C to 40 °C). For Indoor use only !
• To avoid exposing the controller to harmful gases or excessive humidity, it is preferable to install it in a corridor.
• Do not spray water on the controller! In order to clean the control, wipe it with a damp cloth.
Before servicing or cleaning unit, switch power off at service panel and lock the switch disconnecting means to prevent power from being switched accidentally. When the service disconnect­ing means cannot be locked, securely fasten a prominent warning device, such as a tag, to the service panel.
• The controller should be opened and inspected once a year for mois­ture. Proper care will extend the life of the control.

1.3 Controller's Overview
1.3.1 Controller's Description
The controller monitors the production of eggs using multiple and flexible functions: the user can quickly see the number of eggs counted by each sensor and can easily compare the production of eggs between different hen groups. Moreover, the controller can monitor the water consumption in different sections of the house.
Controller Inputs
The controller can communicate with up to 16 DCM-8 counter modules. Each DCM-8 module can monitor 8 inputs (egg sensor and/or water pulse inputs). In all, the controller can monitor up to 100 sensors (egg counter and water meters combined).

1.3.2 Fonctionnement général du contrôleur
Détecteurs
Le contrôleur peut surveiller la lecture de 100 détecteurs (compteurs d'oeufs
ES-1 ou compteurs d'impulsions d'eau). Se référer à la section 4.4 afin
d'attribuer la fonction désirée à chaque détecteur.
Totaux
Le terme "total" désigne la lecture de plusieurs détecteurs combinés. Deux
types de totaux peuvent être définis par l'utilisateur: des totaux de produc-
tion d'oeufs ou des totaux de consommation d'eau. Ces totaux permettent
de superviser la production d'oeufs ou la consommation d'eau d'endroits
spécifiques du bâtiment.
Se référer à la section 4.4 pour activer les totaux et à la section 4.5 pour
choisir les détecteurs qui les composent.

1.3.2 Controller's Basic Principle of Operation
Sensors
The controller can monitor the reading of 100 sensors (ES-1 egg sensors or water meters). Refer to section 4.4 to assign the proper function to each sensor input.
Sensor Totals
A total is the combination of sensor readings. Two types of totals can be defined by the user: egg totals and water totals. These totals allow moni­toring the production of eggs or the water consumption in specific loca­tions of the house.
Refer to section 4.4 to enable sensor totals and refer to section 4.5 to assign sensor to these totals.

Overview of Monitoring Functions
Egg Production
The controller can monitor up to 100 ES-1 egg sensors and 32 egg totals (combination of sen­sors). It can then provide the following pieces of information regarding the egg production:
- Real-time count of each egg sensor;
- Real-time count of each egg total;
- Daily count of each egg sensor (20 days);
- Daily count of each egg total count (30 days);
- Total number of eggs since the beginning of the batch.
Water Consumption
The controller can monitor the number of pulses produced by water pumps that are connected to DCM-8 modules. Water totals can also be defined to monitor the water consumption in specific parts of the house. The controller displays the water consumption as follows:

- Real-time pulse count of each water total;
- Daily count of each mater meter (20 days);
- Daily count of each water total (30 days).
Animal Inventory
The controller can monitor the age and number of birds in the house. In order to keep the animal inventory up to date, the user must to post up the initial number of birds and must post every change in the number of birds (mortalities, culled, re­moved, or added animals).

2. INSTALLATION
2.1 Mise en place
Glisser le loquet et ouvrir le couvercle. Enlever les bouchons noirs sur les
trous de fixation. Fixer le boîtier au mur à l’aide de quatre vis. S’assurer
que les entrées de câbles sont placées au bas du boîtier afin de réduire le
risque d’infiltration de l’eau. Insérer les vis dans les trous de fixation prévus
et bien serrer. Placer les bouchons d’étanchéité fournis avec le contrôleur
sur les trous de fixation. L’emplacement doit permettre l’ouverture complète
du boîtier de façon à ce que le couvercle touche le mur où le boîtier est
fixé.
2.2 Branchement
Pour brancher le contrôleur, se référer au diagramme de branchement joint
à ce manuel d’utilisation. Utiliser les entrées de câbles fournies au bas du
boîtier. Ne pas faire de trous additionnels dans le boîtier, en particulier sur
le coté du boîtier lorsqu’un module de communication par ordinateur est
utilisé.
Le branchement doit être effectué par un électricien reconnu et être
conforme aux normes, lois et règlements en vigueur. Couper le
courant à la source avant d'effectuer le branchement afin de
prévenir les chocs électriques et des dommages aux équipements.
Ne pas insérer de tube protecteur rigide dans les entrées perforables
du boîtier. Seuls les connecteurs de nylon étanches sont autorisés
pour le branchement des fils.
Un interrupteur ou disjoncteur doit être situé près de l'appareil.
L'interrupteur ou disjoncteur de l'appareil doit être correctement
identifié et doit être facile d'accès pour l'opérateur.
2. MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
2.1 Installing the Controller on the Wall
Open the latch and lift the cover. Remove the black caps located on each of the four mounting holes. Mount the enclosure on the wall using four screws. Be sure the electrical knockouts are at the bottom of the enclo­sure in order to prevent water from entering the controller. Insert the screws in the mounting holes and tighten. Fasten the four black caps provided with the controller onto the four mounting holes. The enclosure must be mounted in a location that will allow the cover to be completely opened right up against the wall.
2.2 Connections
To connect the controller, refer to the wiring diagram enclosed with this user's manual. Use the electrical knockouts provided at the bottom of the enclosure. Do not make additional holes in the enclosure, particularly on the side of the enclosure when using a computer communications module.

All wiring must be done by an authorized electrician and must comply with applicable codes, laws and regulations. Be sure power is off before doing any wiring to avoid electrical shocks and equipment damage.
Do not install rigid conduit into electrical knockouts. Only nylon cable glands are permitted for cable or wire fastening.
The controller has no power-on switch. An external switch or circuit breaker shall be included in the building installation to interrupt power to L and N electric power lines. It shall be in close proximity to the equipment and within easy reach of the operator. It shall be marked as the disconnecting device for the equipment.

3. USER INTERFACE
3.1 Location of the Controls
LARGE LCD DISPLAY
The large LCD display shows the vari­ous readings and parameters. The contrast of the screen can be modi­fied using the potentiometer located behind the top cover: open the controller’s top cover to access the potentiometer then use a screw­driver to adjust the contrast.
The Current Egg Totals' menu is au­tomatically selected after 4 minutes of inactivity.

TÉMOIN LUMINEUX DE L'ALARME
Le témoin lumineux de l'alarme s'allume lorsqu'une situation d'alarme est
active.
BOUTONS DE NAVIGATION
Les boutons de navigation sont utilisés pour se déplacer dans les menus du
contrôleur. Les flèches vers le haut et vers le bas sont aussi utilisées pour
l'ajustement des paramètres lorsque ces-derniers clignotent à l'affichage.
BOUTON ENTRER / MODIFIER
- Pour accéder à un menu :
Ce bouton permet d'accéder au menu sélectionné à l'écran.
- Pour modifier un paramètre :
Appuyer sur ce bouton afin d'entrer en mode d'édition des paramè-
tres: le paramètre sélectionné clignote à l'écran lorsqu'il est en mode
d'édition; utiliser les flèches vers le haut et vers le bas pour l'ajuster.
Se référer à la section 3.2 pour obtenir des informations plus dé-
taillées sur l'ajustement des paramètres.
BOUTON RETOUR
Ce bouton permet de retourner au menu précédent.
ALARM STATUS LED
The alarm status pilot light turns on when an alarm condition is active.
ARROW KEYS
The arrow keys are used to navigate within the controller’s menus. The up and down-arrow keys are also used to adjust a parameter value when the value flashes on screen.
ENTER / MODIFY BUTTON
- To enter in a menu
Press this to access the selected menu.
- To modify a parameter
Press this key when a parameter is selected to enter into editing mode, the parameter will flash on screen, meaning it can now be modified with the up- and down-arrow keys. Refer to section 3.2 for more details.
BACK BUTTON
This key is used to return to the previous menu.

3.2 How to Select & Modify the Parameters
These arrows indicate which menu is cur­rently selected.
These arrows indicate the presence of addi­tional menus beyond displayed menus. Use the arrow keys to scroll the display.
Use the arrow keys to select the desired item on screen.
Press “BACK” to return to the previous menu.
Press “ENTER / MODIFY” to access the selected menu.
Press the “MODIFY/ENTER” button to edit a parameter (see below).
PARAMETER ADJUSTMENT:
• Use the arrow keys to select the desired parameter. When a parameter is selected, the message “Change : Press Modify” is shown at the bot­tom of the display. This means the selected parameter can be edited.
• Press the "Enter / Modify" button to access the editing mode. The parameter will flash on screen, meaning it can now be changed.
• Use the up and down-arrow keys to set the parameter to the desired value.
• Press the "Enter / Modify" button once again to validate the new value and to exit the editing mode. The parameter stops flashing.

4.1.1 Adjusting Improper System Time
When the notification message that follows is displayed onscreen you must set the correct time and date.

CAUTION: To ensure accurate feed data, history logs, and other important system information, you must set the correct

time and date whenever prompted.
To adjust the time and date when the “Improper System Time” notification appears, follow the steps outlined in section 4.1.
Once the time and date has been adjusted, the notification message disappears, the system clock is set, and accurate data is ensured.
Note: The notification message repeatedly disappears and reappears until the time and date are set.

4.2 Password
This function allows to identify 2 different user types. It is used to restrict the access of certain functions of the controller. The password is made up of 4 digits. When a correct password is entered, the current user is identified.
Installer Password:
The installer mode gives full access to all the controller functions. The installer password can be modified as explained below. By default, the installer password is set to :
0-6-1-0.

The user mode gives access to the basic functions of the controller.

The controller automatically returns to the user mode after 15 minutes of inactivity. The user passwords cannot be modified.

MODIFIER LE MOT DE PASSE DE L'INSTALLATEUR :
Le mot de passe courant de l'installateur doit d'abord être entré tel
qu'indiqué ci-dessus avant de pouvoir être modifié. Lorsqu'il est correc-
tement entré, le message "Changer mot de passe" apparaît à l'affi-
chage. Un nouveau mot de passe peut alors être défini. Procéder de la
même façon pour entrer le nouveau mot de passe.
Confirmation du nouveau mot de passe :
Lorsque le nouveau mot de passe est entré, le message "Confirmer mot
de passe" apparaît à l'écran. Entrer le mot de passe à nouveau pour
confirmer. Appuyer ensuite sur le bouton Entrer / Modifier pour valider.
CHANGING THE INSTALLER PASSWORD:
The installer password must first be entered as shown above to be modified. The message “Change Password ” is displayed when the cur­rent user is identified as the Installer. The new installer password can then be entered; proceed in similar fashion to enter the new password.
Confirm the new installer password: Once the new installer password is entered, the message “Confirm Pass-
word” is displayed. Enter the new password once again to confirm the
password. Press the Enter / Modify button at the end to validate.

• Number of Counter Modules Select the number of DCM-8 counter modules in use. These modules are used to connect the different sensors (egg sensors and water meters). Up to 16 DCM-8 counter modules can be enabled.
• Number of Egg Totals
An egg total is a combination of several egg sensor readings. Activate the desired number of egg totals. Note that a maximum of 32 sensor totals can be used (water and egg totals combined) and at least 1 total must be used as an egg total.
• Number of Water Totals
A water total is the a combination of water pulse sensor readings. Acti­vate the desired number of water totals. Note that a maximum of 32 sen­sor totals can be used (water and egg totals combined).
Water totals start being numbered right after the egg totals: if 10 egg totals and 5 water totals are enabled, totals #11-15 are automatically considered as being water totals.

• Nombre de totaux d'eau
Un total d'eau représente la lecture de plusieurs compteurs d'eau com-
binés. Activer le nombre approprié de totaux d'eau; jusqu'à 32 totaux
peuvent être définis (incluant les totaux d'oeufs et les totaux d'eau).
Les totaux d'eau commencent à être numérotés à la suite des
totaux d'oeufs : si 10 totaux d'oeufs et 5 totaux d'eau sont
activés, les totaux 11 à 15 sont automatiquement considérés
comme étant des totaux d'eau.
• Groupes d'alarmes
Les groupes d'alarmes sont utilisés pour signaler une compte d'oeufs
trop bas par certains détecteurs: ceci peut survenir si un blocage sur-
vient dans un convoyeur par exemple.
Un groupe d'alarme est composé de multiples détecteurs d'oeufs choi-
sis par l'usager. Le contrôleur surveille le compte moyen de ces détec-
teurs et sonne l'alarme si le compte d'un détecteur parmi le groupe est
trop bas sous la moyenne.

• Alarm Groups
Alarm groups are used to signal a low egg count of a sensor; this is likely to occur if eggs are jammed into a conveyor for instance.
An alarm group is composed of a user-defined selection of egg sensors. The controller monitor the average count of these sensors and sounds an alarm when the count of an individual sensor belonging to this group gets too far below the average count. Set the number of alarm groups to the desired value (1 to 16 groups); or select "None" to disable them.
Maximum Difference (%)
If alarm groups are enabled above, the user must specify what is the maximum allowable difference between the count of one sensor com­paratively to the average count of the group (in %)
• Cumulative Count:
The cumulative egg count is a total that is not reset every day. It is generally used to calculate the total number of eggs that have been counted since the beginning of the batch (see figure 4). Select which egg total is used for this purpose or select "None" to disable this func­tion.
• Time of Reset:
Set the time at which the current sensor counts and totals are trans­ferred into history menus every day. The animal age also increases by 1 day when the reset time is reached.

4.5 Assign Sensors to Egg and Water Totals
A total consists in a combination of sensor readings (see figure 4). The following section explains how to choose the sensors that are composing each total. Note that a maximum of 32 totals can be defined (eggs & water totals combined).
Water totals start being numbered right after egg totals: if 10 egg totals and 5 water totals are enabled, totals #11­15 are automatically considered as water totals.
A cumulative egg total can be defined. This total is only reset at the end of the batch. Refer to section 4.3 to choose which total is used as a cumulative total.

5.1 Sensor Count
The controller gives a real-time count of each sensor (egg sensor or water meter). Sensor counts start being calculated at the beginning of each day and are transferred into history menus at the end of the day. Refer to section 4.3 to set the time at which the day starts (Time of Reset).

5.3 Animal Inventory
The controller has an inventory menu to keep track of the number of ani­mals, of their age, and of the number of new entries, mortalities or culled animals. In order to maintain this inventory up to date, the user must enter the initial number of animals and the age of the animals at the beginning of the flock; the user must then post any variation in the number of animals as it occurs.
Inventory menus are reset at the beginning of a batch.

6. ALARMES
6.1 Conditions d'alarme
Problème de communication :
Une alarme survient si un problème de communication se produit entre le
contrôleur et les modules DCM-8. Lorsque cette situation survient, le témoin
lumineux de l'alarme s'allume et le module DCM-8 problématique est iden-
tifié dans le registre des alarmes.
Alarme de comptes bas :
Une alarme survient si le nombre d'oeufs comptés par un détecteur d'un
groupe d'alarme est nettement inférieur au nombre moyen d'oeufs comp-
tés par le groupe de détecteurs. Le détecteur problématique est identifié
dans le registre des alarmes.
Lorsque ce type d'alarme survient, l'usager doit s'assurer que les oeufs ne
sont pas bloqués dans le convoyeur puis doit confirmer l'alarme afin que le
contrôleur recommence à surveiller les comptes bas.

6.1 Alarm Conditions
Communication Problem
An alarm is set off whenever a communication trouble occurs between the controller and a DCM-8 module. When this situation happens, the alarm led turns on. The problematic DCM-8 modules are identified in the alarm log menu along with the time and date at which the alarm occurred.
Low Egg Count Alarm
An alarm is set off when the egg count of an individual sensor belonging to an alarm group is too far below the average egg count of the group. When this occurs, the user must acknowledge the alarm so that the controller can continue monitoring low egg count conditions. Note that the problem­atic egg sensor is identified in the alarm log menu.
6.2 Alarm Log
The alarm log keeps in memory the time and date at which each alarm situation occurred. The moment where the controller was powered up is also displayed logged.

The memory card is used to create a backup copy of your controller's configuration. The card is also useful to transfer the configuration of one controller to another controller of the same type.
The switch at the bottom of the card is used to lock or to unlock the card ( = locked, = unlocked).

6. Sélectionnez le type de transfert approprié :

Afin de transférer le contenu de
la carte mémoire dans le contrô-
leur, sélectionnez le menu
"CarteMemoire Ctr" à l'aide
des flèches de navigation. Lors-
que ce menu est sélectionné, ap-
puyer simultanément sur les bou-
tons + et - pour débuter le trans-
fert.
CTRL CARTE MÉMOIRE :
Afin de sauvegarder la configuration du contrôleur sur la carte mé-
moire, sélectionnez le menu "Ctrl Carte Memoire" à l'aide des flè-
ches de navigation. Lorsque ce menu est sélectionné, appuyez simulta-
nément sur les boutons + et - pour débuter le transfert.
7. Lorsque le transfert est complété, appuyez
et maintenez enfoncé les boutons vers le
haut et vers le bas pendant 5 secondes pour
sortir du menu de transfert. Retirez ensuite
la carte mémoire du contrôleur comme suit:
- Coupez l'alimentation du contrôleur;
- Ouvrez le couvercle de l'appareil;
- Retirez la carte mémoire du connecteur;
- Refermez le couvercle et alimentez le
contrôleur à nouveau.
8. Positionnez l'interrupteur en position protégée ( ) à nouveau.

Respectez les règles suivantes pour être certain que le transfert fonc-
tionne correctement.
• L'interrupteur de la carte mémoire doit être en position "non-
protégée" lors du transfert d'une configuration sur la carte.
• Ne pas bouger ni tenir la carte mémoire lors d'un transfert.

7. Once the transfer is over, simultaneously press and hold the up- and down-arrow keys for 5 sec­onds to exit the transfer menu, then remove the memory card from the connector as follows:
- Turn off power to the controller;
- Open the controller's cover;
- Remove the card from the connector;
- Close the cover then reapply power.
8. Lock the card’s switch ( ) if required.
TRANSFER ERROR
Respect the following rules to make sure the transfer works properly:
• Make sure the card switch is at the unlocked position before transferring a configuration on the card.
• Do not move or hold the card while a transfer is ongoing.
IMPORTANT:
REMOVE THE MEMORY CARD FROM THE CONNECTOR WHEN THE TRANSFER IS OVER!
