4” Utility Box
The 4" Utility Box is used in conjunction with the Utility Box Xtender
Handle to apply the finish coat over corner bead sides.
Mud Consistency: Should be about the same as compound used in a Flat
Box Finisher.

4” Utility Box
Operation
Connect the 4" Utility Box to the Utility Box Xtender Handle by sliding the
Utility Box onto the handle and tightening the two wing nuts.
Load the Utility Box through the opening under the blade, using the box
adapter on the pump with the slot adapter inserted in the opening.
To apply the compound, draw the Utility Box along one side of the corner bead while applying pressure with the handle.
This dispenses compound through the opening at a steady rate. The tool is always operated with the wheels leading and
the blade trailing. The handle should lead the Utility Box, except at the end of the corner bead.
The pre-crowned blade trowels the compound with the precise crown needed.
Before starting to run any joint, lock the Xtender Handle at a slight angle by squeezing the handle grip with one hand.
Your other hand should grip the handle near the Utility Box.
Place the Utility Box at one end of the corner bead and apply pressure with the handle to start the compound flowing.
Release the handgrip to unlock the handle and allow it to find its own natural position on the corner bead. Draw the tool
along the corner bead, leading with the handle and applying pressure to distribute the joint compound onto the wallboard
and corner bead surface.
Near the middle of the joint, lock the handle and by gradually decreasing pressure, remove the Utility Box from the corner
bead surface with a sweeping motion.
Reverse positions and begin again at the other end of the corner bead. Again draw the Utility Box along until you reach
the previous stopping point. Lock the Xtender Handle and remove the Utility Box from the surface with a sweeping
motion neatly joining the two finished sections.
Maintenance
Clean thoroughly with brush and water (or water hose) to remove all joint compound from the tool. Then, after the tool is
clean, lightly oil with Ames Bazooka
Oil.

la Caja de Terminado.

Operación
Conectar la Caja de Utilidad 4” al Mango Xtender de la Caja de Utilidad 4”
deslizando la Caja de Utilidad 4” hacia el mango y ajustando las dos
tuercas.
Llene la Caja de Utilidad 4” a través de la abertura ubicada debajo de la
cuchilla, usando el adaptador de la caja en la bomba con el adaptador que
se encuentra insertado en la abertura.
Para aplicar la mezcla, mueva la Caja de Utilidad 4” hacia un lado de la esquina de la moldura mientras aplica presión
con el mango. Esto dispensa la mezcla a través de la abertura en forma constante. La operación de la herramienta se
realiza guiando las ruedas y arrastrando la cuchilla. El mango deberá guiar la Caja de Utilidad 4” a excepción del final de
la esquina de la moldura.
La cuchilla argueada deja la mezcla precisa y necesaria en la moldadura.
Antes de empezar a aplicar la mezcla, asegure el Mango Xtender en un ángulo leve, apretando la empuñadura del
mango con una sola mano. La otra mano deberá agarrar el mango cerca de la Caja de Utilidad 4”.
Colocar la Caja de Utilidad 4” al final de la esquina de la moldadura y aplicar presión con el mango para que la mezcla
empiece a fluir. Suelte la empuñadura para aflojar el mango y permitir que éste encuentre su propia posición en la
esquina de la moldadura. Mueva la herramienta a lo largo de la esquina guiando con el mango y aplicando presión para
distribuir la mezcla en la pared y en la superficie de la moldadura.
Asegure el mango cerca del centro de la unión; luego reduzca la presión gradualmente y remueva la Caja de Utilidad 4”
de la esquina de la superficie de la moldadura con un amplio movimiento del brazo.
Empiece de nuevo al otro lado de la esquina de la moldadura. Una vez más mueva la Caja de Utilidad 4” hasta llegar al
punto en el que finalizó el trabajo anterior. Asegure el mango de Xtender y remueva la Caja de Utilidad 4” de la
superficie con un movimiento amplio del brazo uniendo las dos secciones terminadas.
Mantenimiento
Limpiar meticulosamente con una cepillo y agua (o una manguera de agua) para remover toda la mezcla de la
herramienta. Luego de haber limpiado la herramienta, lubríquela ligeramente con aceite Ames
Bazooka
®
®.
