Tannoy’s crowning achievement in the Prestige range,
the Westminster Royal HE, is a compound hornloaded loudspeaker that pushes back the limits of
innovative technical design whilst retaining the
appearance of a true Tannoy classic.
At its heart is a new HE version of the famous 380mm
(15") Tannoy Dual ConcentricTM driver. This unit
incorporates the latest Alnico magnet system for
exceptional transient response and increased sensitivity.
HE, or Hard Edge, refers to the material used in the
construction of the driver surround. This, when
combined with the unique drive unit chassis earthing
facility, results in a tight, fast and controlled bass with
fluid, transparent midrange and a high frequency
performance of great purity. Once again Tannoy
sets the standard for low frequency performance,
dynamics and ‘presence’.
A hard-wired time compensated crossover network,
constructed using only premium quality components,
handles the signal processing. Silver-plated copper
Van den Hul wiring is used throughout to ensure that
signal integrity is maintained. Gold plated Bi-wire
speaker terminals are provided for signal input, while
high current switches that allow control of high
frequency energy and roll off are located on a front
mounted brass plate.
The magnificent 530 litre cabinet, with its complex
horn loading system, gives greatly increased efficiency
allied to a wave front area approaching that from
real instruments. Effortlessly capable of resolving
truly low frequencies and the reproduction of the
dramatic dynamic range of musical instruments, all
with stunning realism. Assembled using carefully
selected, hand-finished veneers and solid walnut trim
details, the extensive internal bracing and damping
of the rigid 25mm (1") birch ply constructed cabinet
confirms the attention to detail inherent in this
loudspeaker.
Features: 380mm (15") Dual Concentric point source symmetrical
dispersion driver • HE hard edge twin roll fabric driver surround
and driver chassis earthing providing fluid open midrange and
clean, detailed high frequencies • Alnico magnet assembly gives
exceptional transient response and increased sensitivity • 25mm
(1") birch ply construction of the 530 litre cabinet provides
exceptional strength and rigidity, speeding up the aural response
of the speaker • Extensive internal bracing and damping reduces
colouration, enhancing the midrange detail, speed and clarity of
the bass • Complex compound horn loading system greatly
increases efficiency while providing a wave front approaching
that from real instruments • Bi-wired, hard wired adjustable
crossover utilising premium quality components
