TA SERIES
The TA Series of power amplifiers from Tannoy is a compact and versatile line of three professional power amplifiers ranging from 450 to 1050 watts into 2, all using conventional toroid iron transformers. To achieve a compact design of 325mm (13 ”) deep and 2 rack units high, the latest semiconductor technology is utilised, together with a sophisticated copper cooling system.
The sonic performance inherent in all Tannoy professional products, allied to comprehensive features, ensure these amplifiers are ideally suited to all situations from fixed installations to cost-effective live sound systems.
Hum fields from conventional toroidal and C-core types of iron transformers have always been a cause of problems in power amplifier racks. They tend to interfere with more sensitive circuits in, for example, equalizers and active crossovers. Pioneering work on Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) has lead to an advanced chassis design, within the Tannoy TA series. Incorporating a sandwich construction of different iron materials minimises the magnetic hum field.

FEATURES
1 INCREASED CURRENT CAPACITY
A sophisticated copper cooler system has been developed to decrease the chip temperature and maintain an even temperature between output devices. This design, together with the latest semiconductor technology, has allowed us to create very compact and powerful output units.
2 MULTIPLE POSITION GAIN SWITCH
To meet the demands for a flexible gain structure in the system TA Series amplifiers offer a multiple position gain switch. The maximum amplifier gain can be selected from among all industry standard settings provided - 20, 23, 26, 29, 32, 35, 38 and 41dB.
3 VERSATILE INPUT CONNECTIONS
With the Neutrik Combo-jack the TA Series amplifiers facilitate use of both the professional XLR-type standard and the semi-pro 1 ” TRS phono-jacks. For fixed installation, provision of the three pin Phoenix terminal block allows for a high quality, simple and cost effective connection.
4 DUST FILTER ON THE FRONT PANEL
The most effective temperature reduction in an amplifier is achieved by front to back cooling. To avoid simply stuffing the amplifier and rack with dust, a removable dust filter clip has been placed on the front panel for easy cleaning.
5 EASY TO READ LED-INDICATORS
To make trouble shooting the cabling and system easier, the LEDs located on the front panel indicate short circuit, high temperature or high frequency overload protection circuit activation, while the clip indicator denotes the presence of severe clipping. The signal present lamp illuminates at -40dB below full output level.
6 SOFT START
Toroidal transformers require a huge amount of start up current to build a magnetic flux when the amplifier is switched on so, to minimise the risk of blowing the mains supply fuse, a soft start circuit has been incorporated.
