INTRODUCTION
The lightning ash with arrowhead symbol within an equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated "dangerous voltage " within the product's enclosure that may be of sucient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons.
The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature accompanying the product.
please take time to read this installation guide in full before tting.
The Mercury ceiling loudspeakers use a high quality coaxial bass driver and tweeter
conguration. This gives an even spread of sound as you move away from the central axis,
maintaining the uniformity of the frequency response.
Loudspeakers are electromechanical devices that ‘run-in’ through use; performance will therefore improve after an initial period of 24 hrs use. Once they have been further run-in over a longer period, there will be clear enhancement of imaging, mid-band quality and bass
performance characteristics.
We are condent that you will continue to enjoy your new Tannoy Mercury ceiling loudspeakers
for many years to come.
CAUTION
• Ensure there are no supporting joists, electric cables, water or gas pipes that could be cut
during installation.
• Do not attempt to install these loudspeakers unless you are certain of providing a safe
and secure xing.
• Always work from secure steps, and avoid trailing wires that could provide a trip hazard.
• Ensure your amplier is switched off before beginning any wiring or connections.
IF IN ANY DOUBT, CONTACT YOUR LOCAL AUTHORISED TANNOY DEALER.
BEFORE BEGINNING WORK, NOTE THAT THE MINIMUM RECESS DEPTH FROM THE MOUNTING SURFACE IS 68 mm, (2.7”) FOR THE IC5 & 77 mm (3”) FOR THE IC6 MODEL.
THESE LOUDSPEAKERS CAN ONLY BE INSTALLED INTO A PLASTERBOARD (DRY-LINED)
OR SUSPENDED CEILING HAVING A THICKNESS OF UP TO 40 mm (1.5”)
PAINTING
If desired, the grille and bafe may be painted to match the surrounding décor before
installation.
• BAFFLE: Carefully mask off the driver assembly with the paint mask provided. Use several
thin coats of paint to give a better nish than one overly thick coat.
• GRILLE: Likewise, several thin coats of paint should preferably be used.
• Allow the paint to fully harden before proceeding.

MECHANICAL INSTALLATION
1. Apply the adhesive cutout on the ceiling using the template provided.
3. Ensure wiring is securely tted to the
loudspeaker spring terminals, with correct polarity, positive - red, negative - black.
2. Using a keyhole saw, cut out the hole in the ceiling by following the dotted line outlined on the cutout template.
4 Slide the loudspeaker assembly through the hole, and turn the screws to extend the mounting wings. To avoid damage, do not hold the loudspealer by the tweeter assembly.
5. Progressively tighten the screws until a rm
grip is achieved. Do not overtighten, use lowest torque setting if using a cordless screwdriver.
