RESELLER DEMONSTRATION GUIDE II
INTRODUCTION
The following guide outlines how to use one or two TalkSwitch units to demonstrate the features, functionality, and benefits of the phone system in a closed environment. The TalkSwitch system comes with a built-in demonstration capability, allowing you to run a demonstration without plugging into telephone lines.
The system includes special dialing capabilities allowing you to simulate calls through VoIP or PSTN from another location. These calls will go to phones that are plugged into the same TalkSwitch unit, but the ringtones will imitate calls from another location.
This guide does not cover all of the functions in the TalkSwitch system. Please feel free to improvise and make any configuration changes to demonstrate other features. You should test these features before a demonstration to ensure they function properly.
With a single unit, you can demonstrate all the features of the system except VoIP. With two units, you can demonstrate VoIP calls in a closed environment.
CONNECTING THE DEMONSTRATION SYSTEM
This section shows how to connect the demonstration system, including TalkSwitch units, phones, speakers, Ethernet hub/switch and computer. Note that the computer is only required to configure the TalkSwitch units. It is not required to run demonstrations.
Although the two units will be networked together and some parameters will be shared in the software, they should be treated as two separate systems.
For example, do not program ring groups to ring extensions on both systems. This would be incorrect behavior for the demonstration setup.
TalkSwitch unit 1
TalkSwitch unit 1 simulates the main office.
• E1 — A phone connected to E1 is local extension 111.
• E2 — A phone connected to E2 is local extension 112.
• E5 — A phone connected to E5 will simulate an outside line calling in to the system. This phone is referred to as the dial-in phone.
• E6 — A cordless phone connected to E6 will simulate out-of-office calls to a cellular phone. Try to use a cordless phone that looks like a cellular phone (e.g. Uniden ELT 560).
• E7 — A phone cord connected to L1 will simulate line 1.
• E8 — A phone cord connected to L2 will simulate line 2.
RESELLER DEMONSTRATION GUIDE 1
• Ethernet — An ethernet cable connected to the hub/switch will allow you to configure the TalkSwitch unit, and will allow two TalkSwitch units to communicate through VoIP.
• AC adapter — The AC adapter will provide power.
• PA — An amplified speaker connected to the PA jack will allow overhead paging.
• MUSIC — An optional external audio source connected to the MUSIC jack will provide music on hold. It is not required if an audio file is loaded into the TalkSwitch unit.
TalkSwitch unit 2
TalkSwitch unit 2 optionally simulates an office at a remote location. It is used to demonstrate a TalkSwitch VoIP network.
• E1 — A phone connected to E1 is local extension 121. It will represent an extension at a remote location.
