GEARS
Your Tailwind E-Bike is equipped with multiple spe eds.
The rst gear is for ea sier and uphill pedaling, and the
last gear is for maximum sp eed on level or downhill terrain. Change gear s only while pedaling. The rear wheel contains s even or nine chain sprockets (depending on model). When t he chain is around the largest sprocke t, you are in 1st gear, or the lowest gear. The high gear will have the dera illeur positioned so that the chain is directe d around the smallest gear. Every
position on the gear s elector should cause a gear
change. Adjustment s require ne tuning and should only be made by a qualied technician .
Avoid changing gears ver y rapidly from rst gear to
the last gear or vice ver sa. If you change multiple gears too quickly, you could caus e the chain to come
o the sprocket.

KEYS09
Your Tailwind E-Bike comes with one or two kinds o f key :
• Ignition Key (Granito 1.0 mo del only)
• Key for batter y holder on bike frame
To ride in full electric mo de (no pe daling), set your LED diplay to PAS 0. In this mode, your sp eed can be changed by twisting the t hrottle. (Maximum speed: 20MPH)

It’s import ant to your safety that you instinct ively
know which brake lever control s which brake. On your
Tailwind E-Bike, the right brake lever cont rols the front
brake. The le brake le ver controls the rear brake.
Your Tailwind E-Bike is equipped with disc bra kes for maximum reliabilit y. Ap plying hand pressure to the brake levers will c ause the wheel brake to create friction aga inst the brake disc, slowing the wheel . The more hand pressur e applied to the brake lever, the faster the E-B ike will come to a stop.
The rear brake should always b e applied before and while the front brake is app lied. Applying only the front brake to slow or stop at hig h speeds may result in the rider being ej ected from the saddle and continuing forward over th e handlebars. It is best to apply even pressure to bo th brake levers when slowing or stopping.
Bicycles equipp ed with disc brakes will occasionally make a slight scraping nois e when the wheels are turning without th e brakes being applied. This is normal.
Make sure that the brake lever d oes not contact the handle bar when full han d pressure is applied (Figure 1). If so, then the bra kes m ust be adjusted by increasing the tension o n the cable.
A quick adjustment may be ma de by screwing or unscrewing the threa ded barrel adjuster on the
brake lever until the br akes are ne-tuned for safe
stopping (Figure 2). If the br akes are still not operating correctly, they may re quire further adjustment by an experienced bicycle mechanic.
WARNING
• Disc brake rotors b ecome hot during use. Do not touch or come in contact w ith the disc rotor shortly
aer use.
• Wet weather will require a lo nger distance to stop. Brake earlier and avoid su dden stops when riding in wet conditions.

Tires should not be d eated unless necessar y. To minimize
tire wear and for maximum r iding safety, comfort, and handling, maintain reco mmended tire air pressure. This
can be found on the side wall of all tires. Use a reliable
tire air pressure gauge to che ck for proper ination before
every rid e. At the same time, inspect tires f or excessive wear and cracks . Replace tires if necessary.

TAILWIND E-BIKES
FAQ
14
Q. How long does it take to full y charge the battery? A. It depend s on the state of depletion, but around 3 -6
hours if completely dis charged.
Q. Can I ride up hills and ag ainst strong headwinds on my Tailwind electric bike?
A. Yes. One of the main advantages of cycling on a Tailwind electric bicycle is that it attens hills and increases your
average speed whe n tackling inclines and headwinds. If
you provide a reasonable a mount of eort, you should be
able to tackle anythi ng from a 10% gradient up to a 14% gradient. You will be amazed at t he relative ease with which your new Tailwind electric b ike ca n tackle some of the most arduous j ourneys.
Q. Do I need a drive r’s license, insurance, or registrati on? A. No, you don’t. A ccording to federal law, electric bikes
that are under 750 watt s are classied as bicycles. For all
intents and purp oses, it’s simply a bicycle that requir es very litt le pedaling to travel 20 MPH, saving you time and hassle. The law does r equire the use of a helmet and rider s to be at least 16 years old. Che ck your local state laws for requirements.
Q. Do I need to pedal an e lectric bike? A. No, but it helps to prolong batter y life. The motor on
our bikes is both throt tle and pedal assist controlled, allowing you to decide how much p ower you desire. Have you ever tried to c ycle when speeding downhill on your normal bicycle? It’s jus t like that. The motor is propelling you faster than you’re c ycling, so there is pretty mu ch no resistance. It ’s merely a formality!
Page 31
31
Tailwind E-Bikes User Manual
Q. What happens when I us e the brakes under powered assistance? A. All of our bikes are equipped with b rake levers that
have a built-in safety switch t hat automatically cuts o the
motor power under nor mal braking conditions. This not only ensures a safe unp owered stopping feature, but also protects t he motor under braking conditions so that it is n’t working against th e brakes.
Q. How far will a Tailwind take me? A. This all depen ds on a few factors. Cycling with pedal
assist along a st raight road under normal conditions, t he standard batte ry should last about 25 -37 miles. Cycling up steep hills will obvi ously take more energy out of the battery an d factors such as road surf ace, wind resistance,
weight of the rider, and tire pressure will aect your range.
Q. What happens if I get a at tir e? A. The tires on o ur bikes are the same as conventional
bicycles. Simpl y replace the tube with a tube of the right
size and inate it. No special tire s or par ts will be needed.
Q. How do I know when the bat tery is low? A. The bicycles have easily visible in dicators located on
the right handlebar or L ED screen that show the amount
of juice le. If it is get ting low and you don’t think you will make it to your destination, you can s witch o your motor and keep it just for the di icult bits.
Q. Do I have to wait for the bat tery to empty before I charge it? A. No. The batte ries we use are Lithium-ion batte ries
which do not suer from ‘memor y eect.’ This means
that there is no nee d to discharge a battery completely before you rechar ge it again. You can partially recharge the battery at a ny time without reducing its voltage or life span.
We recommend rechar ging the battery aer ever y use,
regardless of how f ar you rode.

Hand brake cut-o power
When your bike is equipped wit h br ake cut- o power set, the bike will automat ically cut o power
when the brake is use d.
Low voltage protection
When the batter y output voltage reaches its lim it,
the electro nic control system will cut o the power
to automatically protec t the battery. When the battery r eaches its minimum voltage, you can switch to pedal riding . The battery should be recharged before ridin g again.
Power o
When your E-Bike is not in us e, please turn o the
pow er.
Charge indicator
Red indicates chargin g, green indicates that the batte ry is full.
Note: The batter y switch must be turned o using the switch on
the bottom whe n the battery is charging. The bat tery must be
fully charged before the rst use. We recommen d you char ge the batter y for a full 6 hours aer your rst 3 use s. If the bike is
not used for a long time, yo u should fully charge and remove the
battery. While not in use, keep the batter y turned o and recharge
every 2 month s.
Make sure to keep the batte ry and charger away from children during charging.
Do not attempt to dis assemble or modify the batte ry or charger.
Do not use the bat tery or charger for any use other than i ts intended purpos e.
Battery charging
Plug in the connector b etween the charger and the bat tery, then plug the charger into an ele ctrical outlet. The LED indicator o n the charger will show re d, which means charging. When the indicator light turns gr een, the battery is fully char ged. When you
are nished charging , r st unplug the charger from the power
supply, and then unplug the conne ctor between the batte ry and the charger.
During the charging p rocess, the charger and batter y should be placed in a stable an d cool place. The battery opera ting temperature range s hould be between 32 and 110 degrees Fahrenheit. Do not put any cover o n the battery or charger. Make sure that no liquid comes into cont act with the charger.
