2.1DescriptionofInternalcomponents

2.1.1SupplyandExtractairFans

ThefanshaveexternalrotormotorsofECtypewhichcanbesteplesslycontrolledindividually0–100%.It ispossibletoprogramthespeedin2steps(normal/reduced)dependingontheprogrammingoftheweek schedule.Themotorbearingsarelifetimelubricatedandmaintenancefree.Itispossibletoremovethe fansforcleaning(chapter5).
2.1.1.1PressuretransmitterFans
2pressuretransmittersmaintaintheairowataconstantlevelbymeasuringthedifferentialpressureover theinletconeofthefanimpellers(pos.11gure1andgure2)).Thepressuretransmittersareinstalled fromfactoryinallCAVunits.V AVcontrolofthefansisavailableasanaccessory .TheVAVaccessory kitincludestwopressuretransmitters,tubes,electricalcablesandinstructiononhowtoconnecttothe airhandlingunitandset-upthecontroller.See“Installationinstructions”formoreinformationconcerning VAVinstallations.

2.1.2SupplyandExtractairFilters

TheltersareofbagltertypewithlterqualityF7forthesupplyairlterandM5fortheextractairlter. Theltersneedtobereplacedwhenpolluted.Newlterscanbeacquiredfromyourinstallerorwholesaler.
2.1.2.1Pressureguardforlters
Apressureguardmeasuresthedifferentialpressureoverthesupplyandextractairlters(pos.10gure1 andgure2).Whenthepressuredropreachesapresetvalueanalarmistriggeredinthemainregulator. Thealarmvalueissetaccordingtorecommendationsforthefactorymountedlters.Itispossibletoadapt settingstospecicinstallationsandltertypes,seeAlarmsettingsinchapter4.3.

2.1.3HeatExchanger

TopvexFRmodelsareequippedwithahighlyefcient,beltdriven,rotatingheatexchanger.Required supplyairtemperatureisthereforenormallymaintainedwithoutaddingadditionalheat.Theoperationof theheatexchangerisautomaticanddependsonthesettemperature.
Theheatexchangerisremovableforcleaningandmaintenance(chapter5).
2.1.3.1Rotormotor
Therotormotordrivestheexchangerrotorwithaninnitelyrpmaslongasthereisaheatdemand.The motoriscontrolledbyananalogue0-10Vcontrolsignal(pos.6gure1andgure2).
2.1.3.2Rotationguard
Asensorregisterstherotationoftheheatexchangerrotor.It’sconnectedtothemainregulatorwhich givesanalarmiftherotorstopswhilethereisaheatdemand(pos.12gure1andgure2).

2.1.4Temperaturesensors

4temperaturesensors(PT1000)areincludedintheunitfromfactory.Thesensorsareasfollows:
•Supplyairsensor
•Extractairsensor
•Outdoorairsensor
•Efciencytemperaturesensor
InT opvexFR03–11alltemperaturesensorsaremountedandwiredinsidetheunitexceptforthesupplyair sensor,whichislooselydeliveredwiththeunitandneedstobeinstalledinthesupplyairductexternally fromtheunit.SeeInstallationinstructionsformoreinformation.

2.1.5Waterheatingbattery

Inunitswithbuiltinwaterheatingbatterythehotwatercoilislocatednexttothesupplyairconnection. ThehotwatercoilcanbeeitherHWL(hotwatercoil,lowpower)orHWH(hotwatercoil,highpower). Thecoilmaterialiscopperpipingwithaframeofgalvanizedsheetsteelandaluminiumns.Thecoilis equippedwithventingandimmersionsensorforfrostprotection.

2.1.6ElectricalHeater

Inunitswithbuiltinelectricalheatertheheatingrodsarelocatedafterthesupplyairfanintheairow direction.Thematerialisstainlesssteel.Theelectricalheatingbatteryhasbothautomaticandmanual overheatingprotection.Themanualoverheatprotectionisresetbypushingtheredbuttonontopofthe electricalheaterframe(pos.9gure1).Thepowerdemandoftheelectricheatingcoiliscontrolledby themainregulator,whichcontrolstheheatsteplesslybyaTTCtriaccontrolaccordingtothedesired supply/extractorroomairtemperaturethatissetinthecontrolpanel.

4Commissioning

4.1BeforeStartingtheSystem

Whentheinstallationiscompleted,checkthat:
•Theunitisinstalledinaccordancewiththeinstallationinstructions.
•Theunitiscorrectlywired.
•Soundattenuatorsareinstalledandthattheductsystemiscorrectlyconnectedtotheunit.
•Outdoorairintakeispositionedwithsufcientdistancetopollutionsources(kitchenventilatorexhaust, centralvacuumsystemexhaustorsimilar).
•Allexternalequipmentareconnected.
•Thefollowingdataisavailable:
•Intendedconguration,forexampletemperaturecontrolfunctions,fancontrol,externalcontrol
functionsetc.
•Howtheunitissupposedtooperateaccordingtoaweeklyschedule(normalandreducedspeed).

4.2Initialsetupoftheunit

Ontherststart-up,thecontrollerwillstartaspecialprogramforsettinglanguage,supplyairtemp setpoint,Time&dateandweekschedulefornormalspeed.Usethe“OK”buttontomovebetween changeableparametersandtheUP/DOWNarrowstoseethedisplayedalternatives.Conrmbypressing “OK”oncemore.MoveondowninthemenustructurebyuseoftheUP/DOWNarrows.

5.3.3.1Checkingthefans
Eveniftherequiredmaintenance,suchaschangeoflters,iscarriedoutdustandgreasemayslowly buildupinsidethefans(pos.1and2,gure1).Thiswillreducetheefciency.
Thefanscanbedismountedbylooseningthe4screwsonthefancasing(gure5).TopvexFR06–1 1have afansupportbracketthatneedstoberemovedbyloosening4screws.Thefansmaybecleanedwith aclothorasoftbrush.Donotusewater.Whitespiritcanbeusedtoremoveaccumulationswhichare otherwisedifculttoremove.Allowdryingproperlybeforeremounting.

Thesystemsuppliestreatedoutdoorairtothebuildingandextractstheusedindoorairviatheductsystem anddiffusers/louvres.Diffusersandlouvresaremountedinceilings/wallsinbedroom,livingroom,wet rooms,WCetc.Removediffusersandlouvresandwashinhotsoapywaterifrequired.Diffusers/louvres mustbeputbackwiththeiroriginalsettingsandpositionsinordernottounbalancethesystem.

5.3.5Checkingtheoutdoorairintake

Leavesandpollutioncouldpluguptheairintakegrilleandreducetheunit’scapacity.Checktheairintake grilleatleasttwiceayearandcleanifnecessary .

5.3.6Checkingtheductsystem

Dustandgreasesettlementsmaybuildupintheductsystemevenifltersarechangedregularly.This willreducetheefciencyoftheinstallation.Theductsshouldthereforebecleaned/changedwhen necessary.Steelductscanbecleanedbypullingabrush,soakedinhotsoapywaterthroughtheductvia diffuser/louvreopeningsorspecialinspectionhatchesintheductsystem(iftted).

5.3.7ChangingtheInternalBattery

Note:
ThisprocedurerequiresknowledgeofproperESDprotection;i.e.anearthedwristbandmustbeused!
Whenthealarm”InternalBattery”isactivatedandthebatteryLEDlightsupred,thebatteryforbackupof programmemoryandreal-timeclockhasbecometooweak.Thebatteryisreplacedasdescribedbelow. Abackupcapacitorsavesthememoryandkeepstheclockrunningforatleast10minutesafterthepower supplyisremoved.Therefore,ifthebatteryreplacementtakeslessthan10minutes,therewillbenoneed toreloadtheprogram,andtheclockwillcontinuetorunnormally .
ThereplacementbatterymustbeofthetypeCR2032.

Removethecoverbypressingdownthelocking torquesattheedgeofthecoverusingasmall screwdriver,andatthesametimepullingthe edgesoutwards.

Gripthebatteryrmlywithyourngersandliftit upwardsuntilitrisesfromitsholder.
Pressthenewbatteryrmlydownintoplace.Note thattopreservecorrectpolarity ,thebatterycan onlybeinsertedthe“rightwayround”.

5.4Troubleshooting

Shouldproblemsoccur,pleasecheckorcorrectthefollowingbeforecontactingyourservicerepresentative. Alwayscheckifthereareanyalarmsactiveinthecontrolpanel.
1.Fan(s)donotstart
•Checkifthereareanyalarmmessages.
•Checkthatthefusesarenotdefect(pos.8gure3).
•Checkthesettingsinthecontrolpanel(times,weekschedule,auto/manualoperationetc.).
2.Reducedairow
•Checkthesettingsformediumandlowfanspeed.
•Checkthattheoutdoor/exhaustairdamper(ifused)opens.
•Checkifltersneedchanging.
•Checkifdiffusersandlouvresneedcleaning.
•Checkdiffuser/louvreopenings.
•Checkiffansandexchangerblockneedcleaning.
•Checkiftheroofunitorairintakeisclogged.
•Checkductsforvisibledamageand/orbuildupofdust/pollution.
3.Coldsupplyair
•Checkthecontroltemperatureonthecontrolpanel.
•Checkiftheemergencythermostathastripped.Ifnecessarypresstheredbutton,ontheelectrical
heater(pos.9,gure1)withapointedtool.
•Checkiftheextractltermustbechanged.
•Checkifthefanshavestoppedduetooverheating.Ifsothethermalcontactmighthavetripped
(showsasFanalarminthecontrolpanel).
4.Noise/vibrations
•Checkthattheunitiscompletelyleveled.
•Cleanthefanimpellers.
•Checkthatthescrewsholdingthefansaretightenedproperly.
