2.1.1SupplyandExtractairFans
ThefanshaveexternalrotormotorsofECtypewhichcanbesteplesslycontrolledindividually0–100%.It
ispossibletoprogramthespeedin2steps(normal/reduced)dependingontheprogrammingoftheweek
schedule.Themotorbearingsarelifetimelubricatedandmaintenancefree.Itispossibletoremovethe
fansforcleaning(chapter5).
2.1.1.1PressuretransmitterFans
2pressuretransmittersmaintaintheairowataconstantlevelbymeasuringthedifferentialpressureover
theinletconeofthefanimpellers(pos.11gure1andgure2)).Thepressuretransmittersareinstalled
fromfactoryinallCAVunits.V AVcontrolofthefansisavailableasanaccessory .TheVAVaccessory
kitincludestwopressuretransmitters,tubes,electricalcablesandinstructiononhowtoconnecttothe
airhandlingunitandset-upthecontroller.See“Installationinstructions”formoreinformationconcerning
VAVinstallations.
2.1.2SupplyandExtractairFilters
TheltersareofbagltertypewithlterqualityF7forthesupplyairlterandM5fortheextractairlter.
Theltersneedtobereplacedwhenpolluted.Newlterscanbeacquiredfromyourinstallerorwholesaler.
2.1.2.1Pressureguardforlters
Apressureguardmeasuresthedifferentialpressureoverthesupplyandextractairlters(pos.10gure1
andgure2).Whenthepressuredropreachesapresetvalueanalarmistriggeredinthemainregulator.
Thealarmvalueissetaccordingtorecommendationsforthefactorymountedlters.Itispossibletoadapt
settingstospecicinstallationsandltertypes,seeAlarmsettingsinchapter4.3.

2.1.3HeatExchanger
TopvexFRmodelsareequippedwithahighlyefcient,beltdriven,rotatingheatexchanger.Required
supplyairtemperatureisthereforenormallymaintainedwithoutaddingadditionalheat.Theoperationof
theheatexchangerisautomaticanddependsonthesettemperature.
Theheatexchangerisremovableforcleaningandmaintenance(chapter5).
2.1.3.1Rotormotor
Therotormotordrivestheexchangerrotorwithaninnitelyrpmaslongasthereisaheatdemand.The
motoriscontrolledbyananalogue0-10Vcontrolsignal(pos.6gure1andgure2).
2.1.3.2Rotationguard
Asensorregisterstherotationoftheheatexchangerrotor.It’sconnectedtothemainregulatorwhich
givesanalarmiftherotorstopswhilethereisaheatdemand(pos.12gure1andgure2).
2.1.4Temperaturesensors
4temperaturesensors(PT1000)areincludedintheunitfromfactory.Thesensorsareasfollows:
•Supplyairsensor
•Extractairsensor
•Outdoorairsensor
•Efciencytemperaturesensor
InT opvexFR03–11alltemperaturesensorsaremountedandwiredinsidetheunitexceptforthesupplyair
sensor,whichislooselydeliveredwiththeunitandneedstobeinstalledinthesupplyairductexternally
fromtheunit.SeeInstallationinstructionsformoreinformation.
2.1.5Waterheatingbattery
Inunitswithbuiltinwaterheatingbatterythehotwatercoilislocatednexttothesupplyairconnection.
ThehotwatercoilcanbeeitherHWL(hotwatercoil,lowpower)orHWH(hotwatercoil,highpower).
Thecoilmaterialiscopperpipingwithaframeofgalvanizedsheetsteelandaluminiumns.Thecoilis
equippedwithventingandimmersionsensorforfrostprotection.
2.1.6ElectricalHeater
Inunitswithbuiltinelectricalheatertheheatingrodsarelocatedafterthesupplyairfanintheairow
direction.Thematerialisstainlesssteel.Theelectricalheatingbatteryhasbothautomaticandmanual
overheatingprotection.Themanualoverheatprotectionisresetbypushingtheredbuttonontopofthe
electricalheaterframe(pos.9gure1).Thepowerdemandoftheelectricheatingcoiliscontrolledby
themainregulator,whichcontrolstheheatsteplesslybyaTTCtriaccontrolaccordingtothedesired
supply/extractorroomairtemperaturethatissetinthecontrolpanel.

4Commissioning
4.1BeforeStartingtheSystem
Whentheinstallationiscompleted,checkthat:
•Theunitisinstalledinaccordancewiththeinstallationinstructions.
•Theunitiscorrectlywired.
•Soundattenuatorsareinstalledandthattheductsystemiscorrectlyconnectedtotheunit.
•Outdoorairintakeispositionedwithsufcientdistancetopollutionsources(kitchenventilatorexhaust,
centralvacuumsystemexhaustorsimilar).
•Allexternalequipmentareconnected.
•Thefollowingdataisavailable:
•Intendedconguration,forexampletemperaturecontrolfunctions,fancontrol,externalcontrol
functionsetc.
•Howtheunitissupposedtooperateaccordingtoaweeklyschedule(normalandreducedspeed).
4.2Initialsetupoftheunit
Ontherststart-up,thecontrollerwillstartaspecialprogramforsettinglanguage,supplyairtemp
setpoint,Time&dateandweekschedulefornormalspeed.Usethe“OK”buttontomovebetween

Thefanscanbedismountedbylooseningthe4screwsonthefancasing(gure5).TopvexFR06–1 1have
afansupportbracketthatneedstoberemovedbyloosening4screws.Thefansmaybecleanedwith
aclothorasoftbrush.Donotusewater.Whitespiritcanbeusedtoremoveaccumulationswhichare
otherwisedifculttoremove.Allowdryingproperlybeforeremounting.

Leavesandpollutioncouldpluguptheairintakegrilleandreducetheunit’scapacity.Checktheairintake
grilleatleasttwiceayearandcleanifnecessary .
5.3.6Checkingtheductsystem
Dustandgreasesettlementsmaybuildupintheductsystemevenifltersarechangedregularly.This
willreducetheefciencyoftheinstallation.Theductsshouldthereforebecleaned/changedwhen
necessary.Steelductscanbecleanedbypullingabrush,soakedinhotsoapywaterthroughtheductvia
diffuser/louvreopeningsorspecialinspectionhatchesintheductsystem(iftted).
5.3.7ChangingtheInternalBattery
Note:
ThisprocedurerequiresknowledgeofproperESDprotection;i.e.anearthedwristbandmustbeused!
Whenthealarm”InternalBattery”isactivatedandthebatteryLEDlightsupred,thebatteryforbackupof
programmemoryandreal-timeclockhasbecometooweak.Thebatteryisreplacedasdescribedbelow.
Abackupcapacitorsavesthememoryandkeepstheclockrunningforatleast10minutesafterthepower
supplyisremoved.Therefore,ifthebatteryreplacementtakeslessthan10minutes,therewillbenoneed
toreloadtheprogram,andtheclockwillcontinuetorunnormally .
ThereplacementbatterymustbeofthetypeCR2032.
