PPM-8551 DODGE HD ADJUSTABLE LOWER
CONTROL ARM 4X4 DODGE 1500, 2500, 3500
Version 2
GENERAL NOTES:
These instructions are also available on our website; www.synergymfg.com.
Check the website before you begin for any updated instructions and additional
photos for your reference.
The installation of these control arms will allow you to correctly align the front
axle after a suspension lift kit is installed.
These control arms feature a double adjuster sleeve which allows you to adjust the
length of the arm without removing the arm from the vehicle. The working length
on these arms ranges from 18.375” to 20.125”
1. The control arms are the same left and right.
2. Remove the existing lower control arms. If you are just replacing the lower control
arms, they can be replaced one at a time with the vehicle sitting on level ground,
without removing the tires & wheels or any other suspension part.
3. Reuse the factory mounting bolts. We recommend installing the axle end control arm
bolts from the inside so there is minimal rock damage to the exposed thread on the
end of the bolt.
4. The control arms come assembled to the shortest length. Make any adjustments by
only turning the adjuster sleeve so there is equal thread on the flex joint and adjuster
sleeve. Make sure the grease zerk on the flex joint is aligned with the pinch bolt on
the control arm. (Should be pointed up towards the chassis)

5. We recommend presetting the length of the lower control arm. For 3” lift, we
recommend a length of 19” measured from center to center of the bushings. This
length is a good starting point when using the stock length upper control arms. The
final length should be adjusted to get the correct amount of caster. Approximately 3-5
degrees is the factory spec. We suggest shooting on the higher end of the range for
improved straight line tracking and vehicle return to center.
NOTE – The max safe working length of these control arms is
20.125” Any longer and the pinch bolt will not effectively clamp
on the Johnny Joint shank.
6. Once satisfied with caster setting, tighten the ½-20 UNF pinch bolts to 50 ft-lbs.
7. Tighten the factory control arm bolts to the following specs, depending on size.
(Note, do not torque until vehicle is sitting at ride height)
14mm (9/16” bolts) – 125 ft-lbs
16mm (5/8” bolts) – 145 ft-lbs
18mm (3/4” bolts) – 200 ft-lbs
