High Temperature Audio Visual Alarm System, HTA-100
Installation and Service Instructions
General Information
■ Alarm System - TempControl High Temperature Audio
Visual Alarm System will monitor, alert and alarm when
water temperature exceeds preset limit. It best ts
applications where there is a critical need to accurately
monitor and control warm or hot water temperature.
■ Solenoid Valve (optional) - When alarmed, the valve is
de-energized and closes to provide complete shutdown of
the water ow.
■ Relay (customer supplied option) - Installed relay enables
remote monitoring of alarm control module.
■ Caution Set Point - is the lower of the two set point
temperatures that alerts when the output water is
approaching an undesirable temperature limit.
■ Alarm Set Point - Once the output temperature reaches the
alarm set point, the system goes into full alarm mode.
Installation
Important: All piping should be thoroughly
ushed prior to installation to prevent debris from
interfering with the solenoid operation. Do not run
solenoid power and temperature probe through
same conduit.
■ Connect 120 VAC line voltage to the primary side of the
transformer as displayed in Figure 1.
Figure 1
■ Connect the 12 VAC secondary side of the transformer to
the 12 VAC power input terminals on the back of the alarm
control module as identied in Figure 2 below. Note that
there is no polarity required for the input terminals.
Piping
■ Tee Fitting - Required; appropriate size tting for
application purchased seperately (see options).
■ Temperature Probe - Locate probe as far downstream from
mixing valve as is reasonably possible.
a. Slide connector nut and ferrule piece over the probe.
b. Slide probe 1/2” to 2/3” into the tee tting.
c. Slide the ferrule and connector nut down the probe sha
and tighten in place.
■ Solenoid Valve(optional, 12 VDC, 10 Watts, normally
closed) - Install valve directly before the temperature probe in
any orientation. Make note of the correct direction of the water
ow as marked on the valve.
Electrical
■ Mount the 4" x 4" supplied mounting box in a dry location
within wiring reach of the temperature probe and solenoid
valve if used.
■ Mount supplied transformer.
(120 VAC – 12 VAC/15 VA UL listed, CSA certified class 2)
For California Residents
WARNING: is product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.
Figure 2
■ Temperature Probe - Plug probe into the connector on
the backside of the control module as identied in Figure2
above. Note that the connectors are keyed and will only mate
in one direction. (optional cable lengths are available)
■ Solenoid Valve (optional) -
Connect coil wires between the
solenoid valve and the valve power output terminals on the
back of the control module as identied in Figure 2 above.
Note that there is no polarity required between connections.
Page 2
■ Relay (customer supplied option) -
Connect relay coil wires
between the relay and the valve power output terminals on
the back of the control module as identied in Figure 2. Note
that there is no polarity required between connections.
Fahrenheit / Celsius Temperature Display Setting
■ Select either Fahrenheit or Celsius
display units by setting Dip Switch
on control module circuit board.
Fahrenheit
DIP Switch 1 = OFF
Celsius
DIP Switch 1 = ON

Electrical Enclosure Box
■ Secure control module in electrical box using the two (2)
screws provided with box. Screws should be inserted into the
upper right and lower le corners of the control module.
■ Do not remove upper le and lower right screws securing the
control module together.
It may be necessary to move the opposite set point to
achieve the desired setting. Once the desired temperatures
are selected, return the key to the RUN position.
Alarm Lockout
e alarm control module can be locked to prevent changes to
the set points, even with the access key.
■ Once caution set point and alarm set point has been set,
remove the screws from upper right and lower le corners of
front plate. Remove the control module from the 4" x 4" box.
■ Enable set point lockout
Enable
- DIP Switch 2 = ON
Disable - DIP Switch 2 = OFF
■ Reinstall the control module into
the 4" x 4" box.
■ When the key is placed in the SET
position, the display will alternate
between a set point temperature
and the characters LOC.
■ Set point temperatures can be viewed but unable to change.

Temperature Set Point Adjustments
NOTE: The following settings were set at the factory:
Caution Alert Temperature = 114˚F (45.6˚C)
High Limit Alarm Temperature = 120˚F (48.9˚C)
■ Reset temperature
settings
factory temperature
settings as required by
the application to prevent
erratic temperature
readings that can
prematurely activate the
alarm.
■ SET key position - Turn
key from the RUN position
to the SET position.
■ Identify caution set
point temperature (A)
Press SELECT keypad
button until A appears in the rst eld of the LED display.
e three (3) digits immediately following the A identies the
current caution set point temperature.
■ Set caution set point temperature - Pressup down
keypad arrow buttons located below the display to increase
or decrease temperature setting.
■ Identify alarm set point temperature (H) - Press SELECT
keypad button until H appears in the rst eld of the LED
display. e three (3) digits immediately following the H
identies the current alarm set point temperature.
■ Set alarm set point temperature - Press up down
keypad arrow buttons located below the display to increase
or decrease temperature setting.
NOTE: Caution set point temperature cannot be set higher
than alarm set point temperature and alarm set point
cannot be set lower than caution set point temperature.
- Reset the above

Alarm Operation
Normal Mode:
■ Green Valve (normal) LED LED is lit to indicate
normal operation; that water temperature is below set
point temperature
is installed, it is in the open position.
■ Flashing Red Dot A ashing red dot (Heart Beat)
in the lower right corner of the display indicates that the
systems processor is running.
Caution Mode:
■ Amber Caution LED LED will blink and the audible
signal will sound briey every 60 seconds when the
temperature reaches the caution set point indicating
attention should be paid to the system.
■ Green Valve (normal) LED LED will remain lit
indicating normal operation.
Alarm Mode:
■ Red Alarm LED
Caution LED
reaches the alarm set point. A continuous pulsing audible
signal will also be heard.
■ Green Valve (normal) LED LED will go out indicating
no water can ow. (If solenoid is installed, valve will close)
Signals mean immediate attention should be given to the system.
Alarm Hysteresis:
■ Amber Caution LED LED will light if the temperature
decreases below the alarm set point indicating that the
temperature is lower than the alarm set point but still
greater than the caution set point.
Alarm condition/mode will still be in eect. e system
will only reset when the temperature decreases below the
caution set point.
and can ow. If optional solenoid valve
LED will blink and the Amber
will go out if the output temperature

NOTES:
3-The above system design only provides for a “binary or on/off” signal to the building monitoring system
1-All current values are maximums not to exceed
2-The above system design does not transmit “analog or digital” data to the building monitoring system
4-Building monitoring system connections and/or signals are defined per the customer application

Override Key
Alarm Set Point - once alarm set point temperature has been
reached, only personnel with the override key can initiate water
flowing in the system.
■ Override Position - Insert the key into the control module
front panel and turn the key switch to the override position.
e solenoid valve is held open allowing water to ow.
All users should be clear of the water ow due to
excessive temperature owing until the system is
corrected.
■ SILENCE Keypad Button - e audible signal may be
silenced by depressing the SILENCE keypad button located
on the panel. e audible signal will only be silenced for 60
seconds and will resume at the completion of the cycle.
■ Key Removal - e key cannot be removed in the override
position
preventing the solenoid from being held open and
le unattended.
■ Alarm Hysteresis - As the system output temperature is
corrected, the above Alarm Hysteresis conditions will occur.
■ Green Valve (normal) LED LED will blink and an
audible signal will be heard regardless of the current mode
when the key switch is in the override position and the
silence period has expired.
