This version of the software enables the scanner to verify that the Motorola terminal is ready before attempting a decode.
Defaults
Baud Rate: 2400 Stop Bits: 1 Laser Enable Mode: Disable
Laser Enable Mode
The Laser Enable Mode parameter indicates whether the LS 3020 must establish communication with the Motorola terminal prior to attempting a decode. If this parameter is enabled, the following sequence occurs when the trigger is pulled:
The scanner sends an ENQ (05H) to the terminal.
The decode LED flashes to indicate the scanner is waiting for acknowledgment from the terminal. The LED stops flashing when ACK (06H) or NAK (15H) is received, or the trigger is released.
If an ACK is received, the unit attempts a decode.
If a NAK is received, the unit issues four short low beeps.

Aiming LEDs and Trigger Positions
The LS 3020-I037A does not generate an aiming LED.
An aiming LED is provided for the LS 3020LR-I037 or LS 3020ALR-H037 when the trigger is pulled. These scanners support a two-position trigger to allow the user to aim prior to activating the motor.
When the trigger is pulled in the first position, the aiming LED is generated. If the trigger is not pulled to the second position, the aiming LED turns off after approximately two seconds.
Triggering and Laser Enable Mode
If the Laser Enable Mode is disabled, the scanning motor is activated as soon as the trigger is pulled to the second position.
If Laser Enable Mode is enabled and the trigger is not pulled to the second position, the aiming LED remains on for two seconds, and the unit does not transmit an ENQ. If the trigger is pulled to the second position, the unit transmits the ENQ to the terminal.
If an ACK is received, the unit attempts a decode.
If a NAK is received, the aiming LED is turned off, and the unit issues four short low beeps.
If the unit does not receive an ACK or NAK, the aiming LED remains on for two seconds. The decode LED continues to flash until an ACK or NAK is received.
