Intended use
The product can be used to control a window blind motor wirelessly
by radio. The transmitter can be any transmitter in the RSL wireless
switching system.
The blind actuator may only be used on mains voltage (230 V/AC,
50 Hz). For information on the power input required, see the section
“Technical Data”.
It is intended for indoor use only. Do not use it outdoors. Contact with
moisture, e.g. in bathrooms, must be avoided under all circumstances.
For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. If you use the product for purposes other than those
described above, the product may be damaged. In addition, improper
use can cause hazards such as short circuiting, re, electric shock
etc. Read the instructions carefully and keep them. Make this product
available to third parties only together with its operating instructions.

Safety instructions
Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the safety information. If you do not follow the safety instructions and information on proper
handling in this manual, we assume no liability for any
resulting personal injury or damage to property. Such
cases will invalidate the warranty/guarantee.
• The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. This may
become dangerous playing material for children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight,
strong jolts, high humidity, moisture, ammable gases, vapours and
solvents.
• Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of
operation and protect it from any accidental use. Safe operation can
no longer be guaranteed if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions
or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
• Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even
from a low height can damage the product.
• Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices which are connected to the product.
• This product may only be installed by a qualied technician (e.g., an
electrician) who is familiar with the relevant regulations (e.g., VDE,
German electrical wiring regulations)!
Improper work carried out on the mains voltage endangers not only
your own life but also the life of others! There is a risk of a life-threatening electric shock!
If you do not have the expertise required for the installation, do not
install it yourself but ask a qualied technician.
• Do not use this product in hospitals or medical institutions. Although
RSL System transmitters only emit relatively weak radio signals,
these may lead to the malfunctioning of life-support systems. The
same may also be the case in other areas.
• The product may only be operated on mains voltage (see sections
“Installation and Connection” and “Technical Data”). Never try to
operate the product at another voltage as this will cause its destruction.
• Perform installation only when all mains supply cables are dis-
connected from the mains voltage. Otherwise, there is a risk of a
life-threatening electric shock!
• The product may be installed and used only in dry indoor spaces; it
must not get damp or wet. Never touch the product with wet or damp
hands! There is a risk of a life-threatening electric shock!
• An all-pole disconnection from the mains voltage (such as a surge
protector) must be provided as part of the wiring set-up.
• Only use the product when it is securely installed and steady. Place
the product e.g. into an appropriate ush-mounted socket.
• If you have reason to assume that safe operation is no longer possible, disconnect the product immediately and secure it against inadvertent operation. Do not touch the blind actuator or any device
connected to it.
Disconnect the blind actuator from the mains by switching off at the
appropriate circuit breaker or by pulling out the fuse. Furthermore,
turn off the earth leakage circuit breaker to disconnect all the poles
of the mains supply. After this, arrange for an expert to check the
product.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of
the Employer’s Liability Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Facilities are to be observed!
• Consult an expert when in doubt about operation, safety or connection of the device.
• Maintenance, modications and repairs are to be performed exclu-
sively by an expert or at a qualied shop.
• If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating
instructions, contact our technical support service or other technical
personnel.
Preparations for installation
Please refer to the section “Safety instructions”!
• Only one motor may be connected to the blind actuator.
• The blind actuator cannot detect the end position of the blind. Connect only a motor that can switch itself off when the end positions at
the top and bottom of the blind are reached.
• The blind actuator may be mounted and operated only in a suitable
ush-mounted socket. It may only be operated when it is securely
mounted.
• The blind actuator must only be installed when the mains voltage
is switched off. Turn off the mains supply by switching off the ap-
propriate circuit breaker or by pulling out the fuse. Secure it against
unauthorised reconnection, e.g., with a danger sign.
Furthermore, turn off the earth leakage circuit breaker to disconnect
all the poles from the mains voltage.
• Check the mains connection for absence of voltage using a suitable
tester.
Installation and connection
Please refer to the section “Preparations for Installa-
tion”.

The blind actuator can be used as a complementary component providing an additional wireless operation function for an existing blind
button. This means that the existing button for “Raise/lower blind”
remains intact; however, the motor that was previously operated by
it can now also be controlled with a wireless remote operation of the
RSL system.
For this purpose, the ush-mounted box needs sufcient space for
installing the blind actuator behind the blind button. Alternatively, the
blind actuator can be inserted in an additional ush-mounted box near
the blind button.
However, you can also completely replace the blind button with the
blind actuator, so that the blind motor can still be operated only by

radio. It is not necessary to connect a blind button to the connections
“S1,” “S2” and “S-C”!
• Remove the cover of your existing blind button and remove the but-
ton from the wall socket.
• Carry out the electrical connection via the screw clamps (C); see
the above diagram.
Connect the screw clamps “S1,” “S2” and “S-C” as shown in the
gure above with a blind button, if present.
The “S-C” screw clamp is the common connection of both buttons;
the connection “S1” serves for the button function “ ” (downwards),
the connection “S2” for the button function “ ” (upwards).
If the electrical wires for the motor’s direction control
are accidentally reversed at this point, then the rotation
direction can later be changed during the programming
process.
• Place the blind actuator in the ush-mounted socket in such a way
that the control key and the LED point outward toward you. Ensure
that the cables are not pinched or otherwise damaged.
If the blind button still needs to be mounted in the same socket,
wait until the programming of the blind actuator has been carried
out; see next chapter.
Assigning a transmitter
a) Assignment using the blind actuator
• Press the control key (B) on the blind actuator for longer than 2
seconds, until the control LED (A) ashes.
• Within 15 seconds, press the “On” button of a switch channel on
a wireless wall transmitter or a remote control device (e.g. marked
“ON” or “l”) for at least 3 seconds, until the motor connected to the
blind actuator briey runs in both directions and stops again. This
indicates that the programming is correct.
Then the motor can be controlled with the “ON” and “OFF” buttons
of the already programmed switch channel; see chapter “Moving
the blind.” Briey pressing the respective other button stops the
blind motor.
• The programming/assigning mode will end automatically. If you
wish to assign further wall transmitters or remote controls (a maximum of 10 are possible), then proceed again as described above.
You can also assign several switching channels to the
same transmitter. With a 4-channel remote control, for
example, Channel 1 can control the blind in the kitchen,
Channel 2 the blind in the living room and Channel 3 can
operate both blinds at the same time.
b) Assignment using an already assigned transmitter
• Press both buttons of an already assigned switch channel on a
transmitter at the same time and hold for at least 3 seconds.
Make sure the two push buttons are for the same switch-
ing channel.
• The control LED (A) ashes (possibly not visible, since the blind
actuator is installed in the ush-mounted socket).
• Now pick up the wall transmitter or the remote control that you want
to reassign. Within 15 seconds, press and hold the “On” button of
the switching channel there (e.g. labelled “ON” or “I”) for at least
3 seconds.
If you wait too long to report a new transmitter (longer
than 15 seconds), the blind actuator leaves the learning
mode automatically. In this case, start the learning mode
again as described above.
The blind motor will move briey in both directions and then stop.
This indicates that the programming is correct.
• The programming/assigning mode will end automatically. If you
wish to assign further wall transmitters or remote controls (a maximum of 10 are possible), then proceed again as described above.
You can also assign several switching channels to the
same transmitter. With a 4-channel remote control, for
example, Channel 1 can control the blind in the kitchen,
Channel 2 the blind in the living room and Channel 3 can
operate both blinds at the same time.
Deleting a single switch channel/transmitter
If the blind actuator is no longer appropriate for a switch channel /
transmitter (e.g. if you want to use the switch channel for a different
wireless receiver in the RSL system), the switch channel can be deleted from the blind actuator’s registry.
a) Deletion using the blind actuator
• Press the control key (B) and hold for longer than 2 seconds, until
the control LED (A) ashes.
• Press the “ON” or “OFF” button of an already assigned switch channel on a wireless wall transmitter or a remote control device that you
wish to delete until the control LED (A) light goes out.
The blind motor will move briey in both directions and then stop.
This indicates that the deletion has been carried out successfully.
b) Deletion using a transmitter
• Press both buttons of the already assigned switch channel of the
transmitter that you wish to delete and hold for at least 3 seconds.
Make sure the two push buttons are for the same switch-
ing channel.
• The control LED (A) ashes (possibly not visible, since the blind
actuator is installed in the ush-mounted socket).
• Press the “ON” or “OFF” button of an already assigned switch channel on a wireless wall transmitter or a remote control device that you
wish to delete until the control LED (A) light goes out.
The blind motor will move briey in both directions and then stop.
This indicates that the deletion has been carried out successfully.
Deleting all assigned switch channels/transmitters
• Press the control key (B) and hold for longer than 2 seconds, until
the control LED (A) ashes. Then release the button.
• Press the control key (B) and hold for longer than 2 seconds, until
the control LED (A) goes out.
The blind motor will move briey in both directions and then stop.
This indicates that the deletion has been carried out successfully.
Then all assigned switch channels/wireless transmitters are deleted; the blind actuator does not react to any existing transmitter of
the RSL system and must be reprogrammed.
Reversing the rotation direction
• Press the control key (B) briefly. The blind motor runs a short way
in both directions and then stops.
• Now shortly press the “ON” or “OFF” button on an assigned switch
channel/transmitter.
• The direction of rotation is now reversed (this applies for all assigned switch channels at once, as well as for a possibly connected
blind button).
Moving the blind
To move the blind up: Press the “ ” (up) button on a connected blind
button or the “ON” or “I” button of the assigned switch channel of a
transmitter briey.
To move the blind down: Press the “ ” (down) button on a connected
blind button or the “OFF” or “O” button of the assigned switch channel
of a transmitter briey.
To stop the blind: Briey press whichever button indicates the opposite
direction of the one the blind is moving in.
The maximum motor run time is approx. 90 seconds; after
this, the blind actuator switches off automatically.
The blind actuator cannot detect the end position of the
blind. This must be either contained in the motor or in a
corresponding control.
The rotation direction can be reversed; see the section
“Reversing the rotation direction”.
Range
• Dependent on the type of wireless transmitter you use, the range
is up to 70 m.
This value, however, is the so-called “open space range”
(the range when the transmitter and receiver are visible
to each other, without disturbing inuences).
In practice, however, there may be walls, room ceilings
etc. between the transmitter and the receiver which reduce the range accordingly.
Due to the different inuences on the wireless transmis-
sion, no specic range can be guaranteed. However,
trouble-free operation is usually possible in a single family
house.
The range can sometimes be limited considerably by:
- Walls, reinforced concrete ceilings
- Coated / metallised insulating glass
- Proximity to metal & conducting objects (e.g., radiators)
- Proximity to human bodies
- Broadband interferences, e.g. in residential areas (DECT telephones, mobile phones, radio-controlled headphones, radio-con-
trolled speakers, radio-controlled weather stations, baby phones
etc.)
- Proximity to electric motors, transformers, power-supply units,
computers
- Proximity to badly shielded or uncovered computers in use or
other electrical appliances
Care and cleaning
The product does not require any maintenance and should never be
opened or disassembled for any reason. Repair or maintenance work
must be carried out by a specialist.
