Delivery content
• RSL wireless mini remote control
• Operating instructions
Intended use
With a wireless remote control an appropriate wireless remote-control switch of the RSL system (or a load attached to it) can be switched on or off wirelessly. The wireless remote control uses a Type CR2032 battery.
It is intended for indoor use only. Do not use it outdoors. Contact with moisture, e.g. in bathrooms, must be avoided under all circumstances.
For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. If you use the product for purposes other than those described above, the product may be damaged. In addition, improper
use can cause hazards such as short circuiting, re etc. Read the
instructions carefully and keep them. Make this product available to third parties only together with its operating instructions.
This product complies with the statutory national and European requirements. All company names and product names are trademarks of their respective owners. All rights reserved.
Safety instructions
Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the safety information. If you do not follow the safety instructions and information on proper handling in this manual, we assume no liability for any resulting personal injury or damage to property. Such cases will invalidate the warranty/guarantee.
a) General
• The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. This may become dangerous playing material for children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight,
strong jolts, high humidity, moisture, ammable gases, vapours and
solvents.
• Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and protect it from any accidental use. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
• Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height can damage the product.
• Do not use this product in hospitals or medical institutions. Although the wireless remote control transmitter emits only relatively weak radio signals, these may lead to malfunction of life-support systems. The same may be the case in other areas.
• Consult an expert when in doubt about operation, safety or connection of the device.
Maintenance, modications and repairs are to be performed exclu-
sively by an expert or at a qualied shop.
• If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions, contact our technical support service or other technical personnel.
b) Batteries
• Correct polarity must be observed while inserting the battery.
• The battery should be removed from the device if it is not used for a long period of time to avoid damage through leaking. Leaking or damaged batteries might cause acid burns when in contact with skin, therefore use suitable protective gloves to handle corrupted batteries.
• Batteries must be kept out of reach of children. Do not leave batteries lying around, as there is risk, that children or pets swallow them.
• Batteries must not be dismantled, short-circuited or thrown into
re. Never recharge non-rechargeable batteries. There is a risk of
explosion!
Operating elements
1 LED (lights up when a
button is pressed)
2 “ON” key
3 “OFF” key, Switch off
4 1 battery of type CR2032
Inserting/Replacing the Batteries
Delivery includes a CR2032 type battery. This is possibly
already inserted in the battery compartment.
• Open the battery compartment of the radio mini-remote, simply pry
the two halves apart carefully (e.g. with a nger nail).
The two halves are just clipped together. Do not use any force during the disassembly.
Then place a type CR2032 battery inside, observing the correct polarity. The plus pole of the button cells points from you outward.
• Place the housing cover and press the two halves together carefully so that the retaining clips snap into place. Do not exert any force.
• The batteries need to be replaced if the range of the hand-held radio transmitter is signicantly reduced or the control LED (1) no longer lights when the buttons are used.
Operation
a) Programming a radio receiver to the wireless remote control
Up to 10 different remote controls can be assigned to each radio receiver of the RSL-system.
• Shift the radio receiver (e.g. a wireless incorporated switch, a radio-controlled socket or the like) to programming mode. Please refer to the operating manual of the radio receiver (usually press the button on the wireless receiver for more than 3 seconds, until the LED
begins to ash on the radio receiver).
• Press the button in the battery compartment of the radio-opening
detector (at least 3 seconds), until the light stops ashing on the
radio receiver and remains lit instead. The load connected to the radio receiver is switched on. Let go of the button and the association process will be complete. You can now turn off the radio receiver from the radio mini-remote on / off button.
b) Deletion of a previously saved receiver from the Mini Remote
Control
• Shift the radio receiver (e.g. a wireless incorporated switch, a radio-controlled socket, etc.) to the programming mode. Please refer to the operating manual of the radio receiver (usually press the button on the wireless receiver for more than 3 seconds, until the LED be-
gins to ash on the radio receiver).
In order for the (already assigned) radio receiver to be
deleted, switch to the learning mode by clicking the “ON” and “OFF” buttons on the radio mini-remote control simul-
taneously for 3 seconds.
This can be uses for example, if a wireless switch for
panel mounting is inaccessible and you can not press its buttons.
• Press the button in the battery compartment of the wireless remote
control (for at least 3 seconds), until the light stops ashing on the
radio receiver and goes out instead. When the load connected to
the radio receiver is turned off, the assigning mode is nished. The
wireless receiver will not respond to the radio controlled mini-remote control.
c) Turning on/ off the radio receiver
If it has not been done, you must rst programme a radio receiver (e.g. a wireless incorporated switch or a radio-controlled socket) in the RSL system of the wireless remote control. Make sure that the radio receiver is ready-to-operate.
Briey press the “ON” button to turn on the radio receiver and the connected user.
Briey press the “OFF” button to turn off the radio receiver and the connected user.
• If the radio receivers have a dimming function, read carefully its operating instructions.
Range
• The wireless remote control has a range of up to 30 m.
However, this range is the so-called “free-eld range”
(range with line of sight between the transmitter and receiver and without interference).
In practical operation, however, there are walls, the ceil-
ings of rooms etc. between the transmitter and the receiver which reduce the range correspondingly.
Due to the different inuences on the radio transmission, no specic range can be guaranteed. However, trouble-free
operation is usually possible in a detached house.
The range can sometimes be limited considerably by:
- walls, reinforced concrete ceilings
- Coated / metal vapour deposition coated insulating glass
- Proximity to metal & conducting objects (e.g. radiators)
- Proximity to human bodies
- Broadband interferences, e.g. in residential areas (DECT telephones, mobile phones, radio-controlled headphones, radio-controlled speakers, radio-controlled weather stations, baby monitors etc.)
- Proximity to electric motors, transformers, power-supply units, computers
- proximity to badly shielded or uncovered computers in use or other electrical appliances
Care and cleaning
• Apart from the occasional battery change the product is maintenance-free for you.
• Clean the product with a soft, clean, dry cloth.
Never use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions since these might damage the surface of the casing or impair the operation.
