Requirements

TherearefourrequirementsforachievingtheperformanceoftheUltraATA/133.

1.ThedevicemustsupportUltraATA/133mode.

2.ThemotherboardandsystemBIOSoranadd-onIDEcontrollercardmustsupportUltraATA/133mode.

3.TheoperatingsystemmustsupportDirectMemoryAccess(DMA)suchasMicrosoftWindowsXP,
Windows2000,WindowsNT,WindowsME,Windows98SE/98andWindows95B(OSR2).

4.TheIDEcablemustbeATA/133(80-wires/40-pin)andthelengthofthecableshouldnotexceed18inches
(44.1cm).

TheperformanceoftheUltraATA/133canonlybeachieved,whenalltheaboverequirementsaremet.

InstallingtheUltraATA/133IDERAIDcontrollercardintoyourcomputer

1.Turnoffyourcomputerandallexternaldevicesconnecttoit.

2.Disconnectyourcomputerfromthepowersources.

3.Openthecomputercase.Refertoyourcomputerusermanualformoredetails.

4.FindanavailablePCIslotandremovetheslotbracket.Savethebracketscrewforlateruse.

5.AligntheUltraATA/133IDERAIDcontrollercardhorizontallywithrespecttothePCIslotandinsertit
intotheslotfirmlyandevenly.Takecarenottoforceitintotheslot.Onceyouhaveproperlypositionedthe
UltraATA/133IDERAIDcontrollercardintotheslot,fastenittothecomputercasewiththebracket
screwyouhavesaved.

6.ConnecttheHDDLEDconnectorfromthecomputercasetotheHDDBusyLEDconnector(JP2)onthe
UltraATA/133IDERAIDcontrollercard.

7.ConnectanyUltraATA/133devicetotheconnector(s)oftheUltraATA/133IDERAIDcontrollercard
withtheATA/133(80-wires/40-pin)IDEcable.The BLUE connectoroftheATA/133IDEcablemustbe
connectedtotheIDEconnectorontheUltraATA/133IDERAIDcontrollercard.

8.Closethecomputercase.Makesuretoreconnectalltheexternaldevicestoyourcomputer.

Step1: StartWindows98/98SEorWindowsME.

Step2: The “UpdateDeviceDriverWizard” willappear,informingyouthatithasfounda“PCIRAID

Controller”,clickthe “Next” button.

Step3: (a)Windows98/98SEuser-Select “Specifyalocation”.

(b)WindowsMEuser-Select “Specifythelocationofthedriver(Advanced)” andthenselect

“Specifyalocation”.

Step4: InserttheDriverCDintheCDROMdriveandclickonthe “Browse” button.
Step5: Atthe “Browse” option:

• SelectCDROMdrive.

• Selectfolder “Silicon_Image”.

• Dependingonyourcard,selectfolder “SIL680RAID” or “SIL680”.

• Selectfolder “Win_Drv”.

Step6: The “UpdateDeviceDriverWizard” willappear,informingyouthatithasfoundthe “SiliconImage

SIL0680ATA/133Controller” driver.Clickthe “Next” button.

Step7: Followtheinstructionstofinishupthedriveinstallation.

IfyouareperforminganewWindowsNT4.0,2000orXPinstallationtoaharddriveattachedtotheUltra
ATA/133IDERAIDcontrollercard.

Step1: MakesuretocopytheWindowsdriverfromtheDriverCDontoa1.44MBfloppydiskette.Youwill

needthedriverinthe1.44MBfloppydisketteduringtheinstallation.
