FW004 Sweex FireWire PC Card
Introduction
First of all, many thanks for purchasing this Sweex FireWire PC Card. This notebook card is ideal for processing digital video images thanks to its maximum speed of 400 Mbps FireWire (IEEE1394a). Also, thanks to the high transmission speed, it is possible to establish a fast connection with external storage units.
To ensure this product operates correctly, we advise you to carefully read this manual first. If despite this manual you still experience problems during installation or operation of this product, go to www.sweex.com and look under the heading service & support.
Important!
Ensure you connect your FireWire cable correctly. A cable which is connected incorrectly may damage the device.
Connections
The Sweex FireWire PC Card contains the following connections:
• 3 x External IEEE1394a 6-pin connection
• Connection for possible external power supply (12 VDC 3A)
Installation of Windows 98SE
We advise you to ensure the operating system is up-to-date before starting the installation. This is easy to check by starting up Internet Explorer and selecting the option “Windows Update” (Windows Update) in the “Extra” (Extra) menu.
The installation of the FireWire PC Card is very straightforward, once inserted the FireWire PC Card is detected automatically.
The following screen appears:

Here click “Next”.
Select the option “Search for the best driver for your device”.
Tick the option “CD-ROM”. Then click “Next”.

Finally, click “Next” to finalise the installation. Windows installs the driver from the Windows 98SE CD-ROM. Click “Finish” to complete the installation process. If Windows prompts you to restart the PC, select “Yes”. The hardware has been installed successfully!
