Installing the camera
Attaching the mounting arm/bracket
The camera comes with a wall-mount arm and a ceiling-mount bracket. For mounting to a wall, post or similar vertical surface, use the wall-mount arm. For mounting to the underside of a ceiling or overhang, use the ceiling-mount bracket.
The camera in your kit is pre-assembled with the wall-mount arm for your convenience. If you need to replace it with the ceiling mount, follow these steps:
1. Unscrew the wall-mount arm from the top of the dome and then remove the mount by slipping the cable carefully, one connector at a time, out of the wall-mount arm.
2. Run the cable through the ceiling-mount bracket.
3. Attach the mount onto the dome and secure them with the supplied screws.
Be careful not to damage the connectors on the end of the cable as the connectors are fragile!
Mounting the camera
The camera can be mounted onto a flat surface using the supplied mounting hardware. The sur face must have sufficient strength to support the weight of the camera. Materials such as hardwood, brick or masonry are good options.
To mount the camera:
Position the camera in the location you want to mount it, and mark the screw holes on the surface to position the screws. Then, using appropriate screws for the surface you’re fixing the camera to, screw the camera into place.
If you’re mounting to a wooden surface, then screw the camera directly to the surface.
If you’re mounting to a masonr y surface (bricks, concrete or similar) then you will need to use wall plugs.
Operating the camera
From the PTZ Control Inter face on your DVR, you can easily per form simple pan, tilt and zoom movements on your camera.
To access the PTZ Control Inter face, click the channel viewing window of the camera, and
then click the icon on the pop-up camera toolbar. The following functions are available:
• Arrows: Move the camera in the direction selected.
• Speed: Adjust the camera’s movement speed.
• Zoom: Zoom the camera in or out.
• Focus: Adjust focus manually if the camera
image is soft or blurry.
5
• Preset: Program movements for your
camera system to repeat over time, or to remember a specific viewpoint for easy access later.
• Patrol: Using a series of presets, you can run patrol mode where the camera will move from one point to another. The camera stays at a single point for a set duration before moving on to the next point.
Note: Consult your DVR documentation for more information on setting up presets and patrols on your camera.
(Optional) Advanced Feature: On-Screen Display
The camera has an OSD (on-screen display)
menu that is accessable by clicking the on the PTZ Control Interface. (To navigate through the options, use the up/down/left/right arrows.)
The OSD allows you to customize the various camera system and image settings. It is optional and recommended only for advanced users. For the majority of situations, it’s easier and often more useful to let the camera automatically adjust its settings.

For best results, carefully consider where you want to mount the camera. Whilst the optimal placement solution will vary from application to application depending on intent of installation, the environment of use and the lighting conditions encountered, here are a few guidelines to help you get started.
General guidelines for camera placement
• The camera can pan a full 360º. This means that installing it in a tight corner is probably not an ideal utilization of its potential.
• Ensure that the camera is located close enough to what you want to monitor to capture the required details. For example, if you wish to capture the details of a face or registration plate, the camera may need to be located within fifty feet (about 25m) of the subject (assuming the lens is fully zoomed in).
• Place the camera in a position that a potential security threat will find it difficult to avoid. An effective strategy is to monitor entrances and exits - after all, a security threat has to get in somewhere.
1 2 4
• Choose a prominent place as high up as possible
to mount the camera, so it is out of easy reach of any potential vandal.
• Ensure you have enough cable coming through the mounting arm/bracket to connect it to your system. We strongly advise against the modification (i.e. cutting and/or joining) of video cables. Each cut/join will noticeably reduce video quality, and increase the chances of the system failing over time.
• Don’t put your cable near live electrical wiring. AC electricity generates radio “noise” which can interfere with the signal from your camera.
• Even though the camera housing is weather and water-resistant, prolonged exposure to adverse weather conditions (direct sunlight or excessive moisture) may eventually damage the internal components of the camera and adversely affect its performance.
• If mounting the camera outside, be sure to properly seal all joints in the mounting arm/ bracket using a silicone sealant. If this is not fully sealed, water can enter the dome causing malfunction or failure.

Connection Guide
Connect the camera’s PTZ, Video and Power connectors to the Video & Power cable. Make
1
sure to twist and lock video connectors for a secure connection.
Remove the green RS485 terminal block from the PTZ port on the DVR, and then using a
2
flat-head screwdriver, attach the pair of PTZ wires on the other end of the Video & Power cable (RED to + / A socket, BLACK to - / B socket) to the RS485 terminal block. When wiring connections are complete, plug the RS485 terminal block back into the PTZ port on the DVR.
Connect the camera to a video input on the DVR. For sake of ease, we suggest connecting it
3
to channel 1.
Connect the camera to the power adapter. When the camera is turned on, it performs a
4
self-test and then briefly displays camera specific information such as the PTZ protocol type, Dome ID (address) and Baudrate before showing live video on the screen.
Configuring PTZ settings
The DVR’s default PTZ settings should allow you to use the
