THE SWAN 260
The Swan 260 Cygnet was first sold in 1969 and was presented as a base, mobile, portable 5 band HF transceiver. With the built-in 120 volt AC and 12 volt DC supply, this 260 watt PEP unit is quite versitile. The radio covers 10 - 15 - 20 - 40 and 80 meters with a built in full band VFO, which is a temperature compensated solid state unit. The first design of the 260 has no "S" meter or current meter, rather it uses a green tuning eye for adjustment of PA and mic. gain. The original model also has a hand microphone which is directly connected to the front panel. There was another version that was produced just before the 270 was introduced, and this model of the 260 has a very small current meter and a 1/4" jack for the microphone connection. The 260 has no AF gain control, but uses only a RF gain control for AF level. A common mod was to add a dual pot and install a AF gain control.
