Punch Approaches Material
To understand the mechanical principle which
gives the SUPER SPEED PRESS its high speeds and
tremendous power beyond its apparent capacity, all
preconceived ideas concerning machines now in use
in the press and stamping field should be discarded.
The die bed of the SUPER SPEED PRESS recipro
cates in a horizontal plane, the amount of travel ap
proximating the
member takes its motion directly from ihe crank shaft,
the amount of stroke being adjustable. This rotary
motion of the punch face coincides at its lower arc
with the reciprocating die on its forward stroke.
Gripped by the stripper, the material is held between
the punch and die, the whole traveling forward hori
zontally as the punch penetrates the work, passes the
center point and
clearing the punch.
The material is fed forward by feed rolls con
trolled
directly from the crank shaft through a variable
speed drive, the adjustment of which may be made
while the machine is running to synchronize the speed
of. the material to produce the least possible amount
of scrap. A cam-operated feed roll lifter is provided
amount of feed per piece. The punch
withdraws Irom the work, the stripper

machine and is best led by strip stock taken directly
from the coil. Strip stock in 10 foot lengths or longer
can be fed by one operator at 1,000 S.P.M. It is equally
adapted to contract, short order work, or very long

Notable points to consider wiih the SUPER SPEED
1. It takes standard die sets.
2. Die clearances are more liberal.
3. Grindings are less frequent.
4. Adjustments are easily and quickly made.
5. Quality work is produced in quantity.

Speed
and Accuracy
Cuts Production Costs
The Super Speed marks the greatest advance in production
economy since the inception of the punch press. It makes other
o
o
types of presses obsolete in performance. It will blank any kind
of material that can be blanked and which is within its range.
Consider these operating advantages:
• The Super Speed Press is adapted to long or short runs as the
time required to change dies is no longer than with con
ventional presses.
• The action of the Super Speed reduces the expense of regrind-
ing fully 60 to 80% and die life is increased in the same
ratio. This is due to the Super Speed principle of com
bining impact with pressure.
• Your present dies, compound or progressive, are adaptable
to the Super Speed, with possibly only minor changes.
• Accuracy in spacing is continuously maintained. The appli
cation of the continuous feed principle never allows the
stock to stop. The feed rolls can be adjusted so that no
feeding action takes
spring stripper although forward motion is maintained by
movement of the die bed, and a drawing operation may
be accomplished while the stock is in motion but held by
the spring stripper.
• An internal expanding brake in each flywheel stops the Press
instantly without shock or strain to any of the working
parts.
• Avoidable waste of coil or strip stock is reduced to a minimum
by adjusting feed while the press is in motion.
• Stacking chutes can be used to stack the blanks, when re
quired.

Investment
Investments in safe securities today earn no more than 3 to
5%. Investments in new equipment for your plant earn many times
these rates. The Super Speed will earn from 50 to 200% yearly. It
will increase your plant capacity and place you in a stronger posi
tion to meet future competition. This statement is based on results
the Super Speed has obtained in many of the country's leading
plants. In many cases this investment has been amortized in six
months or less, through the saving in labor costs, regrinding of dies,
longer die life and overhead.
