How to measure
The user is sitting down. Measure the length of the thigh (from lumbar to the front of the knee). Measure the length of the shank, from the shoe soles to the top of the kneecap. Make sure that the user is comfortable in the chair or sits against a straight wall on a bench.
Seat depth adjustment
Adjust the footrest to fit the shank length. Adjust the footrest so that the thigh is
placed in parallel with the seat cushion. It is more comfortable if the front of the
thigh is placed a bit higher than the back. It must not be too high as this can cause preassure on the gluteal muscles.
Armrest
The backrest pipes has mounting brackets for the height adjusting rail which makes the armrest height adjustment stepless. This should be adjusted when testing the chair. Contact your responsible tester if you need to make any changes.
IMPORTANT: The armrests should be at the same height on both sides of the backrest.
How to adjust the seat depth
Remove the seat cushion. Rise the chair to almost full standing position. Remove the seat mat half way starting at the back. A screw in the seat pipes is holding an inner pipe, that can be adjusted backwards and forwards. Loosen the screws on both sides and adjust the inner pipe, to achieve desired seat depth. Then loosen the screw (se picture) on the strut under (behind in standing position) the seat and adjust to the same hole number as in the seat pipes. Make sure to tighten the screws well. When you have reached the desired position, assemble the seat mat and add back the cushion.

Center of gravity adjustment
Adjustment of seat depth changes the center of gravity. When the seat depth increased the CG need to be moved back by moving the back wheels back. The CG must be adjusted by authorized personal.
WARNING:
When the seat depth is adjusted, the backwheel need to
be adjusted proportionately.
Adjustment of backrest
Precision adjustment on the backrest is done by choosing the most comfortable angle, based on default adjustments. It is possible to change even more, but it is not recommended since it can be uncomfortable in a standing position due to the back bending to much. To achieve desired angle, the two screws below the back must be adjusted at the same time. The backrest have 4 modes of adjustment (+2,0,-2,-4)
Check adjustments
When the wheelchair is properly adjusted, the user should be able to rise to a standing position with her/his knees fully stretched.
The chair is properly adjusted if the imaginary line from hip to ankle, straigth thru the knees, is completely straight. If it´s not, place the user in a sitting position again and make a new precision adjustment. Primarily adjust the seat and the back and thereafter the shank support.

Standing position with a manual raising
Preparations before standing position
Never stand alone the first time you test your wheelchair. Raising may affect your bloodpreasure and cause fainting etc.
The chair must be in the brake mode before raising.
At the uprising with the Superior, all four wheels must remain on solid level ground at a safe distance from slopes, ravines, stairs, etc. Make sure that the front support
legs end up on the flat surface when standing up.
Assemble the shank support on the extendable arms that are places on the right and left side in front of the brake levers. Make sure that the support is properly assembled before raising.
A belt must be used at all raising. If the belt is equipped with a ”snap”—locking buckle, press it together until you here a clicking sound. Pull the belt just tight enough for the users chestsize. To open, push the buttom in the middle of the buckle and pull apart. What position and what type of belt to use shall be decided at the testing, depending on the users need, in cooperation with authorized staff. If the wheelchair is equipped with ”banana” armrests, they must be folded up in front of the user.
REMINDER Never place the chair in a standing position without a person in the chair, due to the problem it may cause to lower the chair without a persons weight in the chair. If this should happen we recommend to place a fully mobile person in the chair and thereafter lower it down to a sitting position.

WARNING:
Make sure that the belt does not get stuck in the
spokes of the backwheels. The belt must NEVER be
used as a safety belt during a car transportation. .
IMPORTANT:
After having gone through the above described steps,
you may now rais.
The chair must be in a brake mode before raising.
Grab right and left raising handles at the same time, by first placing the palm and then the thumbs along the handles. Fold the rest of the fingers around the handles. Press together both of the handles that are placed on your right or left side (depending on what you have ordered), and then pull the handles straight up. To stop raising, just let go of the small handle, and the chair stops in desired position. It facilitates if you lean forwards, away from the backrest, in the moment of raising.
To sit down you just grab right and left handles at the same time. Press together both of the handles, and then press the handles down towards the seat. It facilitates if you lean backwards, towards the backrest. The chair is in a fully lowered position when the handles are parallel with the seat pipes.

När alla säkerhets anordningar är fastsatta så sköts uppresningen genom en knapptryckning på manöverdosan. Manöverdosan är märkt med upp och ned pilar för val av upp och nedfärd.
Emergency lowering
If the wheelchair should get stuck in a standing position, the chair needs to be emergency lowered. This can be done in two ways;
1) If the wheelchair should get stuck in a standing position due to a low battery,
just connect the battery charger to the control box and in the nearest socket. The chair is low lowered by direct elictricity. The chair shall be left on charge at least 12 hours if the battery was empty.

2) If the wheelchair should get stuck in a standing position due to a broken cable
or something else, the wheelchair must be lowered manually (for this maneuver it takes tools and assistants). The bolt that holds the engine in the upper engine mount must be unscrewed and the engine shall be folded dawn and backwards. Beware that the weight of the person sitting in the chair will make the seat fall down into a sitting position. It is very important that the assisting persons follow the chair to a sitting position, to make the descent as smooth as possible. The chair must now not be used until an authorized workshop has looked at the chair and rectified errors.
Control adjustments
When all the adjustments are done:
In a seated position: The user must feel comfortable sitting down. To achieve the best stability in the chair, the driveshaft of the backwheel should be placed in the center of the pelvis. The driveability must feel comfortable and right.
In a standing position:
When the wheelchair is properly adjusted, the user should be able to rise to a standing position with her/his knees fully stretched. The chair is properly adjusted if the imaginary line from hip to ankle, straigth thru the knees, is completely straight. It has to be easy to reach the raising handles. It has got to be possible for the user to, within the standing wheelchairs asjustment abilities, reach the handles without being forced to lean forward, as she/he must sit down again.
If any of the foregoing descriptions are not complied, place the user in a sitting position again and make a new precision adjustment. Primarily adjust the seat and the back and thereafter the shank support.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Warning and safety instruction
Transfer to and from the standing wheelchair
It is important to always lock the brakes. If your wheelchair has pneumatic tires, the air pressure affects the brakes and its afficiency. Always make sure to keep the right air pressure. The easiest way to perform the transfer depends on your type of disability. Discuss with authorized persons. If possible, avoid pressure on the raising handles and footplate.
To handle obstacles and steps:
No matter what type of obstacles you are facing you should approach it carefully, and preferably with the help of another person.
Driving in a slope:
Driving upwards:
Many experienced users can make it up a slope by them self. To not loose the stearing grip and to avoid tipping backwards, you should always lean forward while you make it up the slope. Drive forward with short and quick strokes of the handrims to maintain the speed an maneuverability. At a steep slope you generally need assistance. If you need to stop in the middle of a slope, make sure you do not make a sudden move backwards when you start driving forward again. Since the wheelchair already are leaning backwards, this kind of movement could result in the wheelchair tipping backwards. Make sure to use anti tippers.
Driving downwards: We recommend that you use assistance in steep and wet slopes. Start with
checking the gradient and see if there is any particular risks; pits, holes, slippery parts etc. Always lean your upper body backwards. Never use the block brake to slow down the speed. If you use the brakes downhill, the wheels lock and the wheelchair can turn to another direction, tip sidewards or come to a dead stop and throw you out of the chair. Always control the speed with the handrims. The handrims can get warm due to friction and may injure you hands. Try to drive as straight as you can downhill. Never change direction during the drive downhill.

Never drive up or down a slope diagonal. It is very important to always control the speed and driving directions using the handrims.
You can lower the risk of falling by not driving in slopes that are too steep or too long.
Transportation & lifting points
Simplified transportation
To simplify transportation of the wheelchair in a car, it can easily be folded.
- Remove antitippers.
- Remove backwheels with the help of Quick release.
- Fold the backrest by pulling the string on the backside of the backrest. This releases the two locks on the right and left side.
- Assemble the wheelchair in reverse order. When you assemble the wheelchair, make sure that all the parts (backrest, backwheel and antitippers) are locked in their position before usage.
WARNING: Your wheelchair is not designed or tested to be used as a seat in a
car tranportation. Therefor do not sit in the car during transportation. For this occasion you must use an approved seat.

cleaning with high pressure hose or the like.
- Painted parts: Clean with soap and water.
- Cushion/Cover: Wash in 60°C (with a closed zipper) and air-dry or tumble dry low.
- Framework: Clean by hand with surface dicinfection (isopropyl alcohol) or Virkon. It has to be completely dry before it can be used again.
Washing instructions for cushion may vary depending on choice of cushion. Look for washing instructions on the cushion.
After driving in rain, make sure to wipe the wheelchair dry and lubricate shafts and bearings.
IMPORTANT: Sand, roadsalt and ocean water may harm ball bearings and
leads on your wheelchair. If this should happen, make sure to whipe dry and clean and then lubricate leads with a lubricating oil.

Maintenance
We advise you to once a year make an inventory of the most important functions on your wheelchair. For this reason we have attached a Service Book to the wheelchair, to make it easier for you to keep track of what and when something has been done with the wheelchair during the usage. We advise you to fill in the Service Book to be able to control the service occasions on your wheelchair.
Except the yearly inventory, we advise you to continuously control the air pressure in your wheels for the best comfort and braking. Also make sure to keep your wheelchair clean – this increases the life of your wheelchair. Also make sure that detachable/foldable parts, as wheels, anti tippers and back rest are locked in their positions.
