Product Description:
Switch-It Proximity Head Arrays use proximity sensors (also called zero or near touch) which are specifically designed for wheelchair application. This means Switch-It proximity sensors are less susceptible to interference from Electro-Magnetic Fields (EMF) generated by power wheelchairs than other available proximity sensors.
Switch-It proximity sensors have the versatility to utilize 3, 4, or 5 proximity sensors built as an array to control the power wheelchair. These arrays may be built with the sensors separate from the headrest for custom placement at any activation point convenient to the user (item Flex Array, HDR-FA-5), or embedded into the pads of the comfortable headrest. Switch-It head array users may choose from short or long and flat or curved side pads for additional customization (see technical information for side pad dimensions).
The Flex Array system is specifically designed for clients that may have changing conditions and require different switch access locations as their condition changes. The Flex Array system includes 5 Switch-It proximity sensors; each sensor cable is built with a heavy duty quick disconnecter and the system also comes with two additional sensor cable extensions, and a Switch-It headrest configured with pads of the user’s choosing. The quick disconnects allow each sensor to be removed from the system for transfers or other reasons. The Flex Array proximity sensors can be placed in the headrest, adductor/abductor pads, or any other possible switch site.
Switch-It also makes a Sip N’ Puff Combo Head Array, Figure 2. This special configuration allows the user to drive left and right with sensors embedded in the side pads, and forward and reverse with use of the Sip N’ Puff.

Key Features:
Within the back pad of each head array (under the back cover) is a small panel of dip switches which allows each sensor to be on or off. This is particularly useful in training environments as the user gets familiar with the head array and comfortable with driving their power wheelchair.
Flexibility of sensor placement with the Flex Array system allows for customization to fit the needs of each user.
HDR3 and HDR4 Head Arrays come with an 1/8” monojack port which works with common mechanical switches with a monoplug output (i.e. egg switch, micro lite switch, etc). Switch-It Proximity Head Arrays are available with either Switch-It 1/2" square or Whitmyer headrest mounting hardware, Figure 3.
