Dual Grid Power Option Diagnostics and Service

Use the following troubleshooting procedures to solve problems that may be encountered after the dual grid power option installation procedures are complete.

Power Supply or ACIM

If one or more power supplies not serviced by the same AC Input Module (ACIM) indicate red or gray on Hostview, then check for one or more failed power supplies. If two power supplies serviced by the same ACIM indicate red or gray on Hostview, then check for a failed ACIM.
To Check for a Failed Power Supply
1. Make sure power supply is turned on at ACIM.
2. Make sure power supply LEDs are green.
3. Make sure cables are connected correctly.
4. Make sure control board voltages are in correct range (green) in Hostview.
If the power supply still indicates a failure, then the ACIM may be at fault.
To Check for a Failed ACIM
1. Make sure power supplies are turned on at ACIM.
2. Replace the ACIM.
3
3. Replace the status cable. (Requires shutdown of Sun Enterprise™ 10000.)

Faulty Status Module

The status module tray assembly is a component of the dual power grid installation option. There are four status modules in the tray assembly located in the front 4U panel (
FIGURE 1)or(FIGURE2).
To Determine Which Status Module Is at Fault
Check that the SSP version installed supports the dual power grid installation.
A faulty status module is determined by which combination of power supplies are red or gray in Hostview.
Note – Four status modules in the Status Module Tray Assembly are numbered
0 to 3 from top to bottom.
TABLE1 Determine a Faulty Status Module
Status Module Power Supply Combinations Indicating Red or Gray
0 0,1,8,9 1 2, 3, 10, 11 2 4, 5, 12, 13 3 6, 7, 14, 15
To Remove and Install the Status Module
1. Remove the faulty status module from the status module tray assembly.
2. Install a new status module.
3. Make sure all switches and circuit breakers are on.
4. Make sure that the ACIM DC on LEDs are green and all others are amber.

5. Verify that the Hostview display on the SSP indicates green for the control boards and green for the power supplies.
