■ Thank you for choosing Electrostatic Field Meter SPE-20 of Sunje Hi-Tek.
■ This product has been designed and manufactured to be used as the part for the electronics industry.
■ Please read this manual before you treat the SPE-20.
■ Keep the product manual at hand so that you can refer to it anytime and anyplace.
■ We cannot be responsible for improper installation and operat ion.
The matters of safety
• This product needs to be passively reset in every 20 mins to prevent decline of reliability on measurement
by charge of measurement instrument. Therefore, it is not suitable for long-term automatic measurement.
• Please reset the product more frequently in environment of a lot of spark for accuracy of measurement.
• Do not open your hand holding the instrument while measuring. Discharge might caused by fin gers, or it
might not be accurate.
• It may fail to function properly if someone drops or any misuse of the product.
• Please connect to Ground for precise measurement.
• 9V Battery only. (rectangular shaped battery)
• Do not separate or renovate it personally.

2. Overview and Main Characteristics
SPE-20 is a non-contact static voltage measurement sensor. Therefore you can measure the
static voltage without contact charged obje ct.
You can conveniently measure high accuracy keeping accurate measurement distance b y using
enclosed 1 Inch (25.4mm) Spacer.
SPE-20 has high sensitive sensor that enables to measure static voltage of charged object by
1V in range of ±29.999[kV].
It measures static voltage of charged object accurately and speedy (error range ±2%, Sampling
Speed 0.005 sec.)
You can record maximum ± voltage when measuring by Peak Hold function.
When using, you can set up voltage for alarm by user Alarm Setting function. (set up range:
0.010~20[kV])
For your safety, beeping sound starts when more than 20[kV] is measured. by high voltage
automatic Alarm function.

3. Components Description
1. Ground
This is an earth connecting socket. You must connect it before you measure.
2. Output Connector
Please connect Output Cable provide d with the product to send output signal outside. (o utput range ±29.999[kV],
reduction ratio 1:1000)
3. Electrostatic indicating LCD
This is measured static voltage display LCD. Measurement range is ±29.999[kV].
4. Reset Button
Press Reset button to reset static v oltage display LCD to 0[kV].
Press it before measuring or turning on facing, but not touching, grounded object bigger than sensor disk in area.
To initialize the recorded Peak hold value, or to delete the set up alarm, press res et button.
5. On/OFF Button
Main Button (ON/OFF).

6. Minus(-) Peak Hold Button
This is a button recording maximum minus (-) static voltage of charged object.
7. Plus(+) Peak Hold Button
This is a button recording maximum plus (+) static voltage of charged object.
8. Alarm Set Button
This is used for alarm when voltage is higher than set-up voltage. Possible alarm set-up range is 0.010 ~ 20[kV].
9. Plus(+) Button
Press this button for higher set up value, 10V per a press.
10. Minus(-) Button
Press this button for lower set up va lue, 10V per a press.
11. Static voltage measuring sensor
This is static voltage of charged object measuring sensor. Please keep this sensor away from any particles.
12. Copper plate
conductive steel plate located lower part of sensor disk en ables 1 Inch spacer to be attached automatically by
magnetic force.
※ External body of SPE-20 is made up of conductive plastic, so it is very convenience to ground through
grounded body or accurately measured value not affected by external noise.

4. Operating Method
4.1 How to use static voltage measurement instrument
1) Grounding product
Please connect a ground wire to SPE-20 for a ccurate measurement.
2) Power on
Press SPE-20 On/Off button to start.
3) Measurement value reset
Press reset button to reset the measurement value after putting close to the grounded object, not touching it,
with your hand not touching the measuring sensor.
4) Measuring
Attach 1 Inch (25.4mm) on the back to keep the measuring distance, and put above the ch arged body for
measuring. 1 Inch spacer will be automatically attached to the steel place of bottom part of measuring sensor
disk by magnetic force.
4.2 How to ground
Connect ground wire provided with product to ground socket on side, and ground electrode to the other side. The
size of grounding electrode is manufactured in the size of grounding socket of outlet. Use banana clip or crocodile
clip in particular cases.

Connect ground wire in environment
■ How to check proper operation of ground wire
It is normal if it is less than 10V when ground wire is connected on one side and the other electrode is touching the
measuring sensor disk.
4.3 How to reset
Place grounded SPE-20 in parallel to conductive ground body that has wider area than sensor disk, keep the
distance of 1 Inch with ground body, press reset button, then it will have 0V like ground body. You do not touch the
ground body with fingers.
It needs to be reset before measuring, whe n it turns on, and when you touch the sensor disk. In environment with a
lot of spark, it needs to be reset more freque ntly.

4.4 How to use ±Peak Hold
±Peak Hold function will be automatically operated after reset.
If you press –Peak Hold button, it will display the voltage when maximum minus (-) charge. If you press +Peak Ho ld
button, it will display the voltage when maximum plus (+) charge. Memorized ±Peak voltage will not be deleted by
pressing Peak Hold button. To initialize, press reset button or reset it.
4.5 How to set up or delete the alarm
By using user alarm setting function, beeping so und starts if higher value is measured until the value goe s below
the set up value.
You can set up the value by pressing ±button when alarm set button being pressed. The alarm setting range is
±10V~20[kV]. To delete the set up value, press reset button with alarm set button being pressed, or reset the
equipment.
■ High Voltage Alarm
For your safety and protection of SPE-20, the alarm turns on continuously by high voltage automatic alarm function
if more than 20[kV] is measured until it goes be low 20[kV].

8. Warranty
8.1 Warranty Period
The warranty period of the product is for one year after the purchase of the product.
8.2 Warranty Scope
In case failure due to the problem of the product occurs during the above warranty period, after-sales service is
provided free of charge. However, failures due to the following conditions are excluded from the scope of
warranty.
■ Failures due to inappropriate conditions, enviro nments, handling, and usage not conforming to the
descriptions in the user’s manual and the specifications attached separately.
■ Failures not due to our product’s defects but due to th e designs of customer’s equipments or software .
■ Failures due to modification or change by user ’s own will.
■ Failures that are determined to have been prevented if consumables described in the user’s manual, etc. had
been maintained or replaced correctly.
■ Failures due to external causes including disasters such as fire, earthquake and flood, and abnormal voltage.
The scope of warranty is valid within warranty period. We are not responsible for the secondary damage
(equipment breakdown, opportunity loss, profit loss, etc.) due to our product’s failure.
8.3 Application scope of product
This product has been designed and manufactured as a product for general industrial use. Therefore, this
product can not be used for the purpose related to atomic power generation, aviation, railway and medical
equipments that have great influence on human life or properties. However, customers can apply our products
to the above mentioned purposes after they fully understand th e specifications of the product through
consultation with us.
