IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock or injury when using
your appliance, foll ow these basic precautions
• Read all instructions before using the appliance.
• P lug into a grounded 3-pron g outlet. Do not remove grounding prong, do not use an adapter,
and do not use an extension cord.
•It is recommended that a separate circuit, serving only your appliance, be provided. Use
receptacles that cannot be turned off by a switch or pull chain.
•Never clean appliance parts with flammable fluids. These fumes can create a fire hazard or
explosion.
•Before proceeding with cleaning and maintenance operations, make sure the power line of
the unit is disconnected.
• Do not connect or disconnect the electric plug when your hands are wet.
• U nplug the appliance or disconnect the power before cleaning or servicing. Failure to do so
can result in electrical shock or death.
•Do not attempt to repair or replace any part of your appliance unless it is specifically
recommended in this manual. All other servicing should be referred to a qualified technician.
• Do not store or use gasoline or any other flammab l e v apors and li quids in t he vicinity of this or
any other appliance. The fumes can create a fire hazard or explosion.
•Use two or more people to move and install the appliance. Failure to do so can result in back
or other injury.
•To ensure proper ventilation for your appliance, the front of the unit must be completely
unobstructed. Choose a well-ventilated area with temperatures above 61

• The appliance should not be located next to ovens, grills or other sources of high heat.
• The appliance must be installed with all electrical connections in accordance with state and
local codes. A standard electrical supply (115V AC only, 60 Hz), properly grounded in
accordance with the National Electrical Code and local codes and ordinances, is required.
• Do not kink or pinch the power supply cord of the appliance.
• The fuse (or circuit breaker) size should be 15 amps.
• It is i mpo rta n t for th e appliance to be lev el ed in order to work properly. You may need to make
several adjustments to level it.
•Although the unit has been tested at the factory, due to transit and storage, you should clean
the appliance before use.
•Do not use solvent-based cleaning agents or abrasives on the interior. These cleaners may
damage or discolor the interior.
•Do not use this apparatus for other than residential purposes.

DANGER!Risk of child entrapment
Child entrapment and suffocation are not problems of the past. Junked or abandoned
appliances are still dangerous, even if they will “just sit in the garage a few days”.
•Before you throw away your old wine cooler or any appliance: Remove the door.
Leave the shelves in place so that children may not easily climb inside.
•Never allow children to operate, play with, or crawl inside the appliance.

INSTALLATION I NS TRUCTIONS
Before Using Your Appliance
• Remove the exterior and int er ior packing.
• Before connecting the appliance to the power so urce , let it stand uprig ht for ap proxi mat ely 2 hour s.
This will reduce the possibility of a malfunction in the cooling system from handling during
transportation.
• Clean the interior surface with lukewarm water usi ng a soft cloth.
• Install the handle on the left sid e of the door using the screws t hat ar e pr ovided.
Installation of Your Appliance
•This appliance is designed for free standing or built-in (fully recessed) installation. If fre e standing,
the unit should have at least 4” of clearance at both sides, at the top and at the back to allow for
adequate ventilation. I f it is bui lt-in, l eave 3/ 16” at bo th sides, 1/16” at the t op and 2” at t he rear. Be
sure that airflow under the appliance is not blocked.
•Place your appliance on a floor that is strong enough to support it when it is fully loaded. To level
your appliance, adjust the front leveling legs at the bot tom.
•Locate the appliance away from direct sunlight and sources of heat (stove, heater, radiator, etc.).
Direct sunlight may affect the acrylic coating and heat sources may increase electrical
consumption. Extremely cold ambient temperatures may also cause the unit not to perform
properly.
• Avoid locating the unit in moist areas.
• Plug the appliance into an exclusive, properly inst alled and grounde d wal l out let . Do not u nder any
circumstances cut or remove the third (ground) prong from the power cord. Any questions
concerning power and/or grounding should be directed toward a certified and authorized pr oducts
service center.
Defrosting
While it is running, the appliance defrosts itself automatically every 8 hours. The defrosting process
lasts about 30 minutes. The melt water collects in the evaporator drip tray where it evaporates.
During the process of defrosting, the displayed temp er at ur e may be higher than the set temperature.
NOTE: You may notice condensation on the outer surface of the glass door. This occurs when water
vapor from the air contacts the cold surface of the door and the vapor condenses on the glass,
causing a fogging effect. In extreme situations, water can even drip off the door, indicating
excessive humidity in t he environment.

OPERATION
Recommended temperatures for chilling wine (f or m odel SWC1840):
Red Wines: 15 - 18
Dry / White Wines: 9 - 14
Sparkling Wines: 5 - 8
These temperatures may vary slightly depending on whether or not the interior light is ON or OFF,
and whether the bottles are located on the upper/middle or low er section.
The Controls of Your Appliance
The appliance should be placed where the ambient temperature is between 16 - 35°C (61 - 95°F). If
the ambient temperature is above or below this range, the performance of the unit may be affected.
For example, placing your unit in e xtremely cold or hot cond it ion s may cause the interior temperature
to fluctuate.

H, I, and J are the d isplay lights f or t emperat ure s etti ngs. When H is lit, the inte rior t emperat ur e rang e
is 15~20ºC (59~68ºF); when I is lit, the temperature range is 9~14ºC (48~57ºF); when J is li t, the
temperature range is 5~8ºC (41~46.4ºF).
K is the light switch. The original setting has the light switch off. Press K once to turn on the light in
the compartment; press it once aga in to turn of f th e lightin g. If the light is left on, after 20 minutes it will
automatically turn itself off.
L is the temperature display. When O or P is pressed, Lshows the compartment temperature as it is
being set. Five seconds after O or P is pressed, L will show the actual temperature in the
compartment.
M and N indicate temperature units: M is Fahrenheit and N is Celsius. When M or N is lit, the
temperature is shown in Fahr enheit or Celsius respect iv ely.
O and P are temperature adjustment buttons for the compartment. When you press “↑” or “↓”, the
set temperature will rise or drop. Each time you press one of these buttons, the set temperature will
rise or drop 1º. The temperature range for the com partment is 1~18ºC (34~ 64ºF).

Q is the button for changing t he Fahren he it/Ce lsius s cale. The or igina l settin g is Fahren he it. Pr essing
Q one time will change the display to Celsius. Press one more time and the display will revert to Fahrenheit. When the t em per ature displ ay shows Cels ius, N is lit; when the d isplay sh ows F ahre nhe it,
M is lit.
R is the power switch. When the power cord is connected, press R and the appliance will start
working. Pressing R again will cause the appliance to stop working; the display, fan and compressor
will all turn off. When the machine is turned off in this way (with power cord still connected), the
temperature setting w ill n ot chang e whe n R is pressed again t o turn t he unit on. When the p ower cor d
is disconnected or the po wer is other wise cut of f, t he unit wi ll return to it s original s etting of 1 2ºC when
R is pressed. If the appliance has been off for less than 5 minutes, the compressor will not restart at
once when R is pressed. This behavior is built into the control system to prote ct the compressor.
NOTE:
•If the unit is unplugged or turned off, or if there has been a power failure, you must wait 3 to 5
minutes before restarting the unit. If you attempt to restart before this time delay, the appliance will
not start.
•W hen you use the appliance for the first time, or restart it after it has been shut off for a long time,
there could be a few degrees variance between the temperature you select and the one indicated
on the display. This is normal and due to the length of inactivation time. Once the appliance has
been running for a few hour s, everything will be back to normal.
Reversing the Door Swing
This appliance has the ca pability of the door opening from either the left or right side. The unit is
delivered to you with the door ope ning from the left side. Shou ld y ou desire to reverse the openin g
direction, please follow t he instr uctions below:
1. Carefully lay the wine cell ar on its back. Use cushioning to pr ot ect the floor and appliance.
2. With the door shut, remove t he two screws holding the bottom hinge to the door.
3. Carefully lift off the door .
4. Unscrew the top hinge pin and cover and move to the opposite side.
5. Use the new bottom hinge provided in the plastic bag ins ide the w ine cellar.
6. Place the door back onto the wine cellar, lining up the top hinge p in.
7. Connect the new bottom hing e pie ce s t o t he door and cabinet, usi ng t he scr ews from the
opposite side and following the same placement.
8. Keep the spare hinge, in case you ever want to set the door back to its original position.
Installation of the Handle
To install the handle, please follow these instructions:
1. Carefully pull the door g asket (seal) away from th e door in
the area where the handle will be attached.
2. Place the handle over the scr ew holes on the outside of
the door and attach it with the screws that have been
provided. Tighten the screws.
3. Press the door gasket b ack into its groove.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Cleaning Your Appliance
1. Turn off the power, unplug t he appliance, and remove all items including shelves and racks.
2. Wash the inside surfaces w ith a war m wat er a nd b aking sod a so lution. The so lution sh ou ld c onsist
of about 2 tablespoons of baking soda to a quart of water.
3. Wash the shelves with a mild deterge nt so l ut ion.
4. Wring excess water out of the sponge or cloth when cleaning the area of the controls or any
electrical parts.
5. Wash the exterior of the cooler with a warm solution of mild liquid detergent. Rinse well and wipe
dry with a clean soft cloth.
Defrosting
Defrosting of the inside the appliance occurs automatically during operation. Approximately every 8
hours, the compressor will stop running for about 30 minutes. During defrosting the temperature will
be higher than you set . The defrost water is collect ed by the ev aporati ng tr ay abov e the co mpre ssor
and evaporates automatically.
Power Failure
Most power failures are corrected within a few hours and should not affect the temperature of your
appliance if you minimize t he number of ti mes the d oor is opened. If your pow er is going t o be of f for a
longer period of time, you need to t ake the proper steps to protect your contents.
Vacation Time
Leave the appliance operating during vacations of less than three weeks. If you turn off the appliance
for extended periods, leave the door slightly ajar to prevent odor building up inside.
Transporting Your Appliance
If you need to move your appliance once the box has been d iscarded:
1. Securely tape down all loose items (shelves) insi de your appliance.
2. Turn the adjustable legs up to the base t o avoid damage.
3. Tape the door shut.
4. Be sure the appliance stays secure in the upright position during transportation. Also protect the
outside of the appliance wit h a bl anket or similar item.
Energy Saving Tip
The appliance should be located in the coolest area of the room, away from heat-producing
appliances and out of dire ct sunlight.

Within the 48 contiguous United States, for one year from the date of purchase, when this appliance is operated and
maintained according to instructions attached to or furnished with the product, warrantor will pay for factory-specified
parts and repair labor to correct defects in materials or workmanship. Service must be provided by a designated
service company. Outside the 48 states, all parts are w arr ant ed for one y ear f ro m m anuf act ur ing defe ct s. P la sti c p arts ,
shelves and cabinets are warranted to be manufactured to commercially acceptable standards, and are not covered
from damage during handling or breakage.
5-YEARS COMPRESSOR WARRANTY
1. The compressor is covered for 5 years.
2. Replacement does not include labor.

1. Service calls to correct the installation of your appliance, to instruct you how to use your appliance, to replace or
