Before the appliance is used, it must be properly positioned and installed as described in this manual, so read the
manual carefully. To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock or injury when using the appliance, follow basic pre-
cautions, including the following:
Plug into a grounded 3-prong outlet, do not remove grounding prong, do not use an adapter, and do not use
an extension cord.
It is recommended that a separate circuit, serving only your appliance be provided. Use receptacles that cannot
be turned off by a switch or pull chain.
Never clean freezer parts with flammable fluids. These fumes can create a fire hazard or explosion.
Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids inside or in the vicinity of this or any other
appliance. The fumes can create a fire hazard or explosion.
Do not use inflammable sprays in the vicinity of the appliance.
Before proceeding with cleaning and maintenance operations, make sure the power line of the unit is discon-
nected.
Do not connect or disconnect the electric plug when your hands are wet.

Where to install your refrigerator
To use refrigerator with the most efficiency and safety, select suitable place to install refrigerator according to the following:

4. Avoid any direct sunbeam, heat and moisture.
5. Refrigerator is equipped with a three-prong plug and is grounded to eliminate elec- trical hazards. In order to make it effective, refrigerator must be plugged into a grounded electrical outlet.

Test run
Before using the refrigerator, clean it and make test run to see if the following are com­pleted. If not, check electricity supply. When cause of trouble cannot be located, contact your Summit dealer.
1. Set cold control knob at “OFF” position and then plug AC cord into an electrical outlet of 115 volts, 60Hz. Motor should not run.
2. Set cold control knob at “MAX” position and let refrigerator operate for 20 minutes. Freezing compartment should get slightly frosted and motor should run smoothly with no noise but soft hum.
3. Then rotate cold control knob counterclockwise toward “MIN” position. Before point- er of the knob reaches “MIN” position, motor should turn off.
Cleaning and maintenance
Turn off your refrigerator and remove all food, shelves, trays, etc. Wash interior liner with a solution of two tablespoons of baking soda and a quart of warm water. Then, rinse and wipe it out. Do not use soaps, detergents, scouring powders, spray cleaners or the like for cleaning the interior liner, as these may cause odors in the refrigerator compartment.
Wash the ice cube tray, drip tray and shelves in a mild detergent solution and dry with a soft cloth.
Wipe the exterior surface with a soft cloth dampened with soapy water and dry it with a soft cloth. Normal appliance spray cleaners may be used for the exterior only.
Use only mild soap and water to clean the door gasket.
Never use acid, chemical thinners, gasoline, benzene or the like to clean any part of the refrigerator. Boiling water and benzene may deform or damage the plastic parts.
Your Summit refrigerator does not require any maintenance.
