IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Before the refrigerator is use d, it m ust be properly positioned and installed as described in this manual, so read the manual carefully. To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock or injury w hen using the refrigerator, follow basic precautions, including the following:
Plug into a grounded 3-prong outlet, do not remove grounding pr ong, do not use an adapter, and do not use an extension cor d.
It is recommended that a separ at e circuit, serving only y our r efrigerat or be provided. Use receptacles that cannot be t ur ned off by a switch or pull chain.
Never clean refrigerator parts with flammable fluids. These fumes can create a fire hazard or explosion.
Do not store or use gasoline or ot her f lammable vapors and liquids in sid e or in the vicinity of this or any other appliance. The fu me s can create a fire hazard or explosion.
Do not use inflammable s pr ays in the vicinity of the refrigerator.
Before proceeding with cl eaning and maintenance operati ons, make sure the power line of t he
unit is disconnected.
Do not connect or disconnect t he elect ric plug when your hands are wet.
Unplug the refrigerator or disc onnect power before clea nin g or ser vicing. Failure to do so can
result in electrical shock o r deat h.
Do not attempt to repair or r eplace any part of your refrigerator unless it is specifically recommended in this man ual. A ll other servicing should be referred to a qualified technic ian.
This appliance is CFC- an d HF C-free and contains small quantities of Isobutane (R600a) w hich is environmentally friend ly, but flammable. It does not damage t he ozone layer, nor does it increase the greenhouse ef fect . Care must be taken during transportation and setting up of the appliance that no parts of t he cooling system are damaged. Leaking coolant can ignite and may damage the eyes.
In the event of any damage:
- Avoid open flames and any t hing that creates a spark,
- Disconnect from the electrical power line,
- Air the room in which the applia nce is located for several minut es, and
- Contact the Service Department for advice.
The more coolant there is in an appl iance, the larger the room it should be installed in. In the event of a leakage, if the applia nce is in a small room, there is the dan ger of c om bustible gases building up. For every ounce of coolant, at least 325 cubic feet of room space is required. The amount of coolant in the appl iance is stated on the data plate on the back of the appliance. It is hazardous for anyone other than an authorized Serv ice Person to carry out servicing or re pairs to this appliance.
Take serious care when handling, moving, and using t he appliance to avoid either damag in g the refrigerant tubing or incre asing the risk of a leak.
Replacing component par t s and ser vicing shall be done by factory aut hor ized service personnel so as to minimize the risk of possi bl e ignition due to incorrect parts or i mproper service.

DANGER! Risk of child entrapment!
Child entrapment and suff oca t io n ar e not problems of the past. Junked or abandoned refrigerators are still dangerous, even if they will "just sit in the garage a few days."
Before you throw away your ol d r efrigerator: Take off t he doors. Leave the shelves in
place so that children may not easi ly climb inside.
Never allow children to oper at e, play with, or crawl inside the refr igerator.
Use two or more people to move an d install the refrigerator. Failure t o do so can result in back or other injury.
To ensure proper ventilat i on for your refrigerator, the front of the unit must be completely unobstructed. Choose a well-ventilated area with temper atures above 60°F (16°C) and below 90°F (32°C). This un it must be inst alled in an area protected fro m the elements, such as wind, rain, water spray or drips.
The refrigerator should not be located next to ovens, grills or other sources of high heat.
The refrigerator must be i nstalled with all electrical, wat er and dr ai n connections in accordance
with state and local codes. A standard electrical supply ( 115 V A C only, 60 Hz), properly grounded in accordance w it h t he National Electrical Code and lo cal codes and ordinances is required.
Do not kink or pinch the power supply cord of the refrigerator.
The fuse (or circuit breaker) size should be 15 amperes.
It is important for the refrig er ator to be leveled in order to wor k properly. You may need to make
several adjustments to lev el it.
Check for leaks after connection.
Never allow children to oper at e, play with or crawl inside the refrigerat or .
This appliance is not intended f or use by persons (including childr en) w it h reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabili t ies, or lac k o f ex perience and knowledge, unles s they have been given supervision or instr uct ion concerning use of the applia nce by a person responsible for the ir safety.
IMPORTANT: Do not use me chanical devices or other means t o accelerate the defrosting process, other than those r ecommended by the manufacturer .
IMPORTANT: Do not damage the refriger ant circuit.
IMPORTANT: Do not use elect rical appliances inside t he food storage compartment of the
appliance, unless they ar e of t he t ype recommended by the manufact urer.
Do not use solvent-based clea ning agents or abrasives on the i nt er ior . These cleaners may damage or discolor the inter ior .
Do not use this apparatus for other t han its intended purpose.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Warning

Before Using Your Refri gerator

Remove the exterior and int er ior packing.
CAUTION: After unpacking you MUST allow this appliance to stand upright for at least 2
hours to allow the lubricant and refrigerant to drain back into the compressor and stabilize. Failure to do so may adversely affect perform ance and t he lifetime of this unit.
Clean the interior surface with lukewarm water using a soft cl ot h.

Installing Your Refri ger a tor

This appliance is designed t o be free standing only, and should not be r ecessed or built-in.
Place your refrigerator on a floor that is strong enough to support the refrigerator when it is
fully loaded. To level your refri ger at or , adjust the leveling leg at the bott om of the refrigerator.
Allow about 5” (12 cm) of space at the back and sides of the refrigerator, which allows the
proper air circulation to co ol the compressor.
Locate the refrigerator away from direct sunlight and sources of heat (stove, heater, radiator,
etc.). Direct sunlight may affect the acrylic coating and heat sources may increase electrical consumption. Extremely cold ambient temperatures may also cause the refrigerator not to perform properly.
Avoid locating the refrigerator in moist areas.
Plug the refrigerator into an exclusive, properly installed and grounded wall outlet. Do not
under any circumstances cut or remove the third (ground) prong from the power cord. Any questions concerning power and/or grounding should be directed toward a certified electrician or an authorized service center.
After plugging the appliance into a wall outlet, allow the unit to cool down for 2-3 hours
before placing food in the refrigerator compartment.

Electrical Connection

Improper use of the grounded plug can result in the risk of elect r ical shock. If the power cord is damaged, have it repl aced by an authorized service center .
This refrigerator should be properly grounded for your safety. The power cord of this
refrigerator is equipped with a three-pin plug which mates with standard three prong wall outlets to minimize the po ssibility of electrical shock.
Do not under any circumstances cut or remove the third ground prong from the power cord
supplied.
This refrigerator requires a standard 115Volts AC~ 60Hz electrical outlet with three-prong
grounded receptacle.
To prevent accidental injury, the cord should be secured behind the refrigerator and not left
exposed or dangling .
Never unplug the refrigerator by pulling the power cord. Always grip the plug firmly and pull
straight out from the receptacle.
Do not use an extension cord with this appliance. If the power cord is too short, have a
qualified electrician or service technician install an outlet near the appliance.

Reversing the Door Swing of Your Appliance

This refrigerator has the capability of the door opening fro m e ither the left or right side. The unit is delivered to you with the door op ening from the left side. Should you desire to reverse the opening direction, you can r efer t o the diagram below. If you have a pr oble m, call SUMMIT Customer Service at 1-800-932-4267.

OPERATING YOUR REFRIGERATOR

Setting the Temperature Control

To c ontrol the internal temperature , adjust the control dial acc ording to the ambient tem perature
or intended use of the refrigerator.
The first time you turn the unit on, set the temperature control to “6.”
The range of the temperature control is f rom position "OFF” to “6”. After 24 to 48 hours , adjust
the temperature co ntrol to the setting that bes t suits your needs. The sett ing of “3” shoul d be appropriate for home or office refrigerator use.
NOTE: If the refrigerator is unplu gged, has lost power, or is turned off, you must wait 3 to 5 minutes before
restarting the unit. If you attempt to restart before this time delay, the refrigerator will not start.
