Remote Switch Installation For ADA Compliant Range Hoods
NOTE: Installation and service must be performed by a qualified installer/electrician
WARNING:
To avoid fire or electrical shock, turn off power at circuit breaker or fuse.
Test to ensure that the power is off before wiring.
MOUNTING THE SWITCH BOX
Install a single gang-recessed switch box at a convenient location. NOTE: If installing this switch in
accordance with ADA guidelines, the height of the light switch must be no lower than 15” from the floor
and no higher than 48” from the floor. Additional regulations apply if there are any obstructions in front of
the switch. For more information, refer to Section 308 of the most recent ADA Standards for Accessible
Design at ada.gov.
Note the configuration of the switches: the fan switch has three terminals, while the light switch has two.
INSTALL MAIN POWER SUPPLY
Attach power cable through the cable knockout.
Open the access panel on the underside of the hood by removing the Phillips screw.
Remove the grease filter.
WIRING
CONNECTING THE FAN SWITCH
Connect the red wire from the fan to terminal #3 on the fan switch.
Connect the black wire from the fan to terminal #1 on the fan switch.
Connect the white wire from the fan to the two white wires (neutral) using a wire nut.
Connect the pre-attached black wire (which is on terminal #2 on the fan switch) to the black hot power
lead.
CONNECTING THE LIGHT SWITCH
Connect the black wire from the light socket to terminal #2 on the light switch.
Connect the pre attached black wire from the light switch with the other two black wires, securing with a
wire nut.
Close the access panel.
