PRODUCT FEATURES
Measurement in 1 second
This innovative technology allows measurement of ear temperature in only 1 second. The thermometer then converts this reading to the familiar oral reading equivalent.
Fever Indicator
• Automatically glows red when a fever temperature is detected. Glows green for normal temperature.
Adult Adaptor Tip
Snaps onto probe tip for older children and adults to use. Stores in base when not it use.
Accurate and reliable
The unique probe design and the advanced sensor provide a very accurate and reliable temperature measurement.
Gentle and Easy to Use
• Special ergonomic design enables simple and easy use of the thermometer.
• Non-invasive technology.
• A measurement can be taken even while a child is sleeping.
• Small probe tip is ideal for children.
Memory Recall
The product displays the last temperature reading automatically for 2 seconds when the unit is switched on. This thermometer can also recall the last 12 readings. This feature helps to keep track of your child’s progress.
Safe and Hygienic
• No risk of broken glass or mercury ingestion.
• Completely safe for use on children.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• Never use the thermometer for purposes other than body temperature measurement. Please follow the safety precautions when using on children.
• Never immerse the ear thermometer in water or other liquids (not waterproof). For cleaning and disinfecting please follow the instructions in the “Cleaning and Storage” section.
• Keep the instrument away from direct exposure to the sun and keep it in a dust-free, dry area at a temperature between 50°F - 104°F. (10°C- 40°C).
• Do not use the thermometer if there are signs of damage on the probe tip or on the instrument itself. If damaged,
do not attempt to repair the thermometer! Please contact Summer Infant’s Consumer Relations Department.
• Earwax in the ear canal may cause a lower temperature reading. Make sure child’s ear canal is clean to ensure an accurate reading.
• The ear thermometer consists of high quality precision parts. Do not drop the instrument. Protect it from severe impact and shock.
WARNING:
• Please keep the adult adapter out of the reach of
children. It may pose a choking hazard.

HOW THE EAR THERMOMETER TAKES A READING
The Grow With Me Ear Thermometer Set measures the heat radiated from the eardrum and the surrounding tissue. This energy is collected through the lens and converted to a temperature value equivalent to the commonly used oral reading. The measured reading obtained directly from the eardrum (Tympanic Membrane) can ensure the most accurate body temperature. The accuracy of a reading will depend on your technique, so please follow instruc
tions for use carefully. We recommend that you practice using the ear thermometer on yourself and your family members when they are healthy. You will then be more confident using the ear thermometer when a family member is ill.
The Grow With Me Ear Thermometer Set meets the ASTM Accuracy Standard under normal operating
condi-
tions. The Grow With Me Ear Thermometer Set has been clinically tested and proven to be safe and accurate
when
used in accordance with operating instructions.
WHAT IS A NORMAL TEMPERATURE?
Normal body temperature varies from person to person. It is important to be familiar with your and your child’s healthy temperature range to help you identify what is normal. You can do this with your Grow With Me Ear Thermometer Set. Please note that ear, oral, rectal and underarm temperature readings also vary, therefore readings taken from different body sites should not be directly compared.
Normal Temperature Range by Age: Age Fahrenheit Celsius 0-2 97.5°F - 100.4°F 36.4°C - 38.0°C 3-10 97.0°F - 100.0°F 36.1°C - 37.8°C 11-65 96.6°F - 99.7°F 35.9°C - 37.6°C > 65 96.4°F - 99.5°F 35.8°C - 37.5°C
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Note: • The thermometer probe should be kept clean by using alcohol swab to wipe it 2 minutes prior to the test, and after each use. Dirt, dust, or ear wax on the sensor will give inaccurate measurements!
• Do not touch the thermometer probe 2 minutes before measuring the ear.
• The time interval of the continuous measurement for the same ear should be at least 15 seconds.
• The thermometer probe should be fitted into the ear canal deep enough with gentle insertion, making sure you don’t move the thermometer, then press the start key to get the measurement, do not remove the probe until hearing a beep sound.
• Whenever putting on (or removing) the adult adaptor, you need to wait for 2 more minutes to cool down the probe so as to get a reliable reading for next measurement. The adult adaptor should be assembled to the probe by hearing (or feeling) a small click sound, so that we can ensure a reliable measurement.
• The adult adaptor is not necessary to put on unless it is for measuring the temperature of an adult.

1. Press the O/I button once to turn the ear thermometer on. The display will show all icons momentarily while the ear thermometer runs a test.
2. Then the last measurement reading will appear on the display for about 2 seconds. You will see a small “M“ next to the temperature reading. This memory feature helps you track your child’s progress.
3. The ear thermometer will beep and the °F or °C icon will flash, indicating that the thermometer is ready to take a reading.
4. Straighten the ear canal by pulling the outer ear up and back to give a clear view of the eardrum.
• For children under 1 year: Pull the ear straight back.
• Children ages 1 year to adult: Pull the ear up and back.
• For an infant, it is best to have the child laying flat with head sideways so the ear is facing towards you. For an older child or adult, it is best to stand behind and slightly to the side.
5. While gently pulling the ear, insert the probe snugly into the ear canal and press the "START” button until you hear a beep sound. You should hear this beep after about 1 second; It indicates the reading is complete.
6. Remove the thermometer from the ear canal. Read the temperature measurement on the display.
NOTE:
• Always take measurements in the same ear since temperature readings may be different from the right and left ear.
• In order to assure accurate readings, please wait at least 15 seconds between continuous measurements.
• In the following situations it is recommended that three temperatures in the same ear be taken and the highest one taken as the reading:
1) Newborn infants in the first 100 days.
2) Children under three years of age with a compromised immune system and for whom the presence or absence of fever is critical.
3) When you are learning how to use the ear thermometer for the first time and until you have familiarized yourself with the instrument and how to obtain consistent readings.
• The LCD display automatically glows red when a fever temperature is detected. Glows green for normal temperature.
CHANGING FROM FAHRENHEIT TO CELSIUS AND VICE-VERSA
The ear thermometer can display temperature measurements in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. To switch the display between °C and °F, turn the unit off. Press and hold the START BUTTON for 5 seconds, until the current measurement scale (°C or °F icon) flashes on the display. Switch the measurement scale between °C and °F by pressing the START BUTTON again. When the measurement scale has been chosen, wait for 5 seconds and the thermometer will be ready for taking a temperature.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE (CONTINUED)
• There may be some inconsistent readings between different continuous measurements, due to the following reasons:
• Different probe insertion depth (or angle).
• Too frequent measurement for the same ear within a short period of time (more than 5 times, with time interval less than 5 sec.).
• Extreme ambient temperature change, dirty probe with ear wax or dust, dirty ear canal.
• Long stay of the probe inside the ear canal (should not be more than 5 sec.), probe shaking during measuring or probe removing away from ear before hearing the beep.
