2 Hazard warning
READ CAREFULLY
CAREFULLY READ THE BATTERY CHARGE AND USE INSTRUCTION MANUAL, INCLUDING SECTION “BATTERY CHARGE”.
The underwater scooter is not a toy, nor a suitable rescue means. It’s exclusive function is to help expert divers in immersions to cover greater distances than could be normally covered with fins only. The scooter and its components, specifically the battery and battery charger, are intended for adult and expert use after carefully reading these instructions.
In order to prevent any harm to things or individuals, the user of the battery and battery charger supplier with our underwater scooters must first read the use and maintenance manual and strictly observe the indications on correct use and product features,
preventing inexpert personnel or minors from handling, even inadvertently, the scooter and supplied instruments.
This scooter is equipped with a “cut off” device whose purpose is to protect internal parts, preventing use when residual battery power is too low. When this device is triggered, the scooter, inevitably, shuts off.

This feature must always be kept in mind to avoid any hazards for the diver who, when planning a dive, will leave sufficient time to surface even without scooter power should the battery, due to the amount of time under water, die.
SUEX srl
delivers the purchaser the XJOY 7 underwater scooter (hereinafter referred to as underwater vehicle) in good working order complete with use and maintenance manual;
assumes that the underwater vehicle user has had specific driver training for underwater vehicles of this type and has received necessary certification from a qualified board;
also assumes that the underwater vehicle user has read this supplied use and maintenance manual that explains:
- underwater vehicle use with the specification of the correct configuration of the equipment used by the diver, of the position he must assume during use as well as the settings the underwater vehicle must maintain when diving; furthermore, this vehicle must absolutely not be permanently restricted to its user.
- the environments in which underwater vehicle use is especially hazardous, such as deep diving, in obstructed, muddy or murky environments; the precautions to be adopted for diving in these environments and the need to have taken suitable training courses held by qualified boards;
- conduct to be avoided, since hazardous, such as, for example, underwater vehicle use to increase diving or surfacing speed;
thus assumes, that the user has received full information on product features, maintenance, correct use and shall strictly follow them.
Therefore, any physical or property damages due to underwater vehicle maintenance defects or use without taking the abovementioned precautions or use other than those indicated in this manual may not be randomly traced to product defects.

5 Intended use
The ADV manufactured by SUEX s.r.l. is a vehicle designed and constructed for underwater movement. Any tampering with the product, by the customer or third parties, that substantially modifies the intended use is prohibited.
The vehicle was solely designed, dimensioned and constructed for the previously described use. Any other use or operation that does not comply or correspond to that indicated in this manual may cause damages and consequently jeopardize technical and safety features. SUEX S.r.l. is not liable for personal and/or property damages due to non-compliant use.
Underwater diving is a potentially hazardous activity. Incorrect scooter use in this environment increases diving risks.

6 Diving safety
6.1 Training
The ADV can be used for both recreational and technical divers. In both cases it is assumed that divers have received necessary certification from qualified boards. In any case, ADV use requires specific training that permits fully safe use, taking full advantage of its potential. Do not forget that the greatest risk is mainly due to the underwater environment where it is used.
6.2 Handling configuration and settings
The ADV is TOW BEHIND type (thus different from the so-called “ride on top” kind) and thus ideal use requires the diver to be towed by the ADV by a tow cord (between the scooter and diver) or by holding onto the specific handles.
Warning. Restricting the ADV to the diver in a way that is hard to untie, even by other divers, is strictly prohibited. Quickly abandoning the ADV at any time must be possible.
We highly suggest gloves (better if padded at least 3 mm thick) be worn when using the ADV. They prevent the diver from inserting fingers between the propeller blades and protect him against the surrounding environment.
Correct equipment settings are crucial to diving safety and become essential when diving with the scooter. Generally, equipment types and positions must guarantee perfect water dynamics and not protrude or hang from the scooter.
The diver’s position should tend to be horizontal during dives (settings and floating are always the consequence of correct equipment settings and appropriate training) for safety, autonomy, scooter speed and diving comfort purposes.
Pay the utmost attention when positioning equipment, especially concerning: whips, valves, side tanks, pressure gauges, consoles, sirens, flashlights and cables or reels, preventing them from hanging and thus coming into contact with the propeller or accidentally catching on the sea bed or companion, creating even seriously hazard situations.

6.3 Hazardous area and residual risks
The propeller is protected by a flow conveyor and relevant supports. However, it is exposed on both the suction and expulsion sides. Additional protections were not installed in these areas since they would significantly reduce fluid passage in the conduit, drastically reducing propulsion system performance.
Catching and cutting risk
Do not introduce any object or body part in the flow conveyor in contact with rotating propeller blades. Except for the hand on the trigger, keep at least 40 cm away from the propulsion group during use.
Above water, make sure the battery has been removed before touching the propeller.
Back-lumbar injury risk
Above water, use caution if the vehicle is manually lifted in incorrect positions.
Crushing risk
When closing the hull, be careful not to place fingers between the two parts.
6.4 Safety device
There is a torque limiter between the engine group and propeller. When the resistance applied to the propeller exceeds a certain winding moment, it triggers preventing the propeller from continuing to rotate. The device emits a rhythmic noise that immediately warns its triggering. As soon as this situation occurs, immediately release the trigger, turn off power using the main switch and free the propeller from the foreign object.
Do not continuously run over 10 seconds. The torque limiter is designed for emergency use and prolonged running could cause damages.
If use conditions permit the foreign body to be removed from the propeller during the dive in total safety, remove it. Otherwise, it is best to abandon the ADV and recover it later.

7 Handling and transport
In all transport situations, the scooter must always be fully closed.
The scooter was designed to be used in water environments, or underwater. When it must be transported in loaded on a car, please take the following precautions given its shape and weight:
- lift it holding a flow conduit support and front handle or, if preferred, only the front handle;
- during transport by car or boat, secure it so it does not move. We recommend support code 90011 (see Suex accessories). On a boat, never place it at the bow or in a place where it is subject to jolts. This could damage internal parts. When placing the scooter on the ground, always use delicacy and, when vertically positioned, rest it on the propeller conveyor: be careful to rest it on a flat surface and that nothing comes into contact with the propeller spinner. If you prefer to hold the scooter by the handlebars, do so, but try not to move them too much since they were not built to sustain excessive loads. Do not support ADV weight by the handlebar only.
8 Description and operating principle
The ADV is made up of a perfectly watertight hollow body, with water dynamic shape, that houses the electric engine, the speed reducer, the rechargeable batteries and the electronic drive components. On the rear exterior are two handlebars (1), one with a built­in trigger (2) which, driven by a sensor in the hull, controls propeller rotation. At the front, a handle recessed in the hull (3) is used for lifting and handling. The propeller is at the rear end which, turning, generates propulsion drive. The latter is protected by a flow conveyor (4). At the top is a main switch with the twin speed control(5) and the power and battery low lights (6) can be seen transparent on the right. The front shell (7) is located at the front and holds the battery compartment and closing knob (8). There are two holes (9) for the tow cord on the flow conveyor, near the handles.

9 ADV use
9.1 Opening and closing the hull.
Simply use your two fingers to open and close the hull: using the knob at the front of the scooter, rotate the hull clockwise to close and counter-clockwise to open. (the device is patented). Holding the front handle, keeping the scooter on the ground and resting a foot on the propeller conveyor, pull upwards. Carefully check that the closing OR gasket is inserted in its housing, clean and adequately lubricated with VASELINE OIL. Check hull mouth cleaning. Use a clean cloth to eliminate dust or sand. Insert the hull. Rotate the hand wheel clockwise until fully closed without over-tightening.

9.2 Battery removal
Place the scooter on the propeller conveyor, disconnect the red connectors. DO NOT PULL ON THE WIRES! Unscrew the lock nut and loosen the eccentric terminal, rotating it.
Take the battery with both hands (weight about 8.5 Kg) and remove it from the support.
To replace the batter, perform the above operations in reverse order. BE CAREFULLY TO CORRECTLY POSITION THE BATTERY

9.3 Starting the scooter
When the scooter is under water, turn the switch in any direction until the blue led turns on.
The scooter is now ready for use. Pull the trigger towards you. The propeller starts to rotate. Release the trigger to stop the propeller.
Before use, make sure the battery was charged and correctly connected to the engine, that the hull is closed and there are no signs of damages, especially after accidental collisions.

The main switch must only be turned when the scooter is under water. Running the propeller in the air may be hazardous and damages the engine shaft hydraulic seal.
Once under water, pull the trigger built into the right handlebar to the mechanical stop to start the propeller. Release the trigger to stop the propeller. Propeller rpm cannot be regulated. However, the scooter has a “soft start” device that permits starts without jerks.

10 Tying the scooter to the diver
The ADV 7 underwater scooter has two handles the diver can hold to be towed. However, for the best use of this type of scooter, wear the supplied harness with tow cord equipped with quick release carabineer (supplied).
The harness must be worn so that is does not generate hazards during diving (for this reason we strongly suggest you take a course held by a certified board) and the tow cord, secured to the scooter, must be connected to the quick release carabineer.
NOTE: before each dive, check that the quick release carabineer is in good working order. To do this, pull the tow cord taut between the harness ring and scoot and pull on the white knob. The carabineer should immediately open and detach. Defective quick release could create hazardous situations.
11 Setting regulation
The ADV setting must be NEUTRAL, meaning neither negative (sunk) or positive (floating). It should remain stable at the desired quota. The vehicle is supplied with neutral settings for fresh water. A ballast is supplied to compensate the difference between fresh and salt water use.
11.1 Positioning the ballast for salt water use
The salt water ballast is attached to the scooter body by the two threaded knobs. Unscrew the threaded knobs and remove the ballast for scooter use in fresh water. Always leave the knobs screwed into the scooter to prevent losing them.

Carefully store the salt water ballast when not in use. Once the settings are selected, fresh or salt water, try submerging the ADV (obviously closed as per instruction manual). The submerged vehicle should remain perfectly horizontal. If this is not the case, move the battery along the support rod forward, if the front tends to float, or back if the front tends to sink. To do this, after removing the battery, using the mechanical battery support stop and retry.
12 Autonomy
Provided autonomy data is indicative and refer to use:
- With the vehicle in good working order
- In tempered environments
- Without current
- At average load (diver with single tank or double tank 12 + 12 lt)
- In perfect water dynamic settings Generally, the time to cover the round trip route is calculated and an autonomy RESERVE is set which varies according to the type of dive.
In any case, the dive MUST be planned to be able to return to the emersion point without the help of the scooter

13 Red led on, battery low
When the red led, next to the blue one, turns on (the blue led stays on), this means that the battery is low. About 10/15 minutes of autonomy remain at this point depending on the temperature of use and battery wear conditions. At the end of this period, the scooter will stop due to the cut-off device.

14 Precautions during scooter use
14.1 Scooter use in apnea
Using the scooter in apnea gives you an unique appreciation of the water environment you’re visiting and extend the route you could normally run. However, the fact of being able to easily reach significant depths you are normally not used to could be hazardous, with all the risks tied to diving beyond your abilities.
14.2 Descent speed
The underwater scooter permits high descent speed. AVOID use to increase it since this increases problems tied to compensation and psycho-physical acclimatization.
14.3 Ascent speed
The ADV MUST NOT BE USED FOR VERTICAL ASCENT. Its use in this sense could induce too fast an ascent and thus, POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS. Therefore, it is best to position it, where it does not create an obstacle, AFTER TURNING IT OFF, TURNING THE MAIN
SWITCH TO OFF and ascending normally.
14.4 Depth
NEVER EXCEED MAXIMUM OPERATING DEPTH!!! In any case, diving, especially at that depth, is an EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS activity. INCORRECT ADV USE IN THESE ENVIRONMENTS INCREASES DIVING RISKS.
14.5 Occluded environments
Diving in these environments is, by itself, EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS.
INCORRECT ADV USE IN OCCLUDED ENVIRONMENTS INCREASES DIVING RISKS. For example: hitting valves, when moving
fast, could cause them to break with the relevant consequences. DIVING IN THESE ENVIRONMENTS REQUIRES ADEQUATE TRAINING COURSES HELD BY QUALIFIED BOARDS. Please note
that ADV autonomy and gas management should be planned so that each team member had DOUBLE the required resources. A spare ADV must also be used.

14.6 Muddy or murky environments
These are environments, occluded or not, where visibility may be suddenly blinded due to the silt lifted when sediment is moved. Diving in these environments is, in itself, EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS.
INCORRECT ADV USE IN MUDDY AND MURKY ENVIRONMENTS COULD INCREASE DIVING RISKS.
THUS, THIS TYPE OF DIVING REQUIRES SUITABLE TRAINING COURSES HELD BY QUALIFIED BOARDS. For example: propeller movement facing the bed could lift a significant amount of silt. Accidentally starting the spare ADV being towed could create seriously hazardous situations.
14.7 ADV flooding, sinking
This could occur especially due to improper use, incorrect closing or
inefficient maintenance. In the event of flooding, the scooter will start to tilt downward and thus sink. In the event of total flooding, the situation could become
POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS since the ADV will start to SINK, DRAGGING THE DIVER DOWN and therefore the vehicle MUST BE
IMMEDIATELY ABANDONED.
15 General precautions
- Do not keep the ADV exposed to sun, closed in a car in the sun or exposed to excessive heat (max 50°C). It could overheating, deforming, and couplings may no longer guarantee water tightness.
- Avoid collisions when diving.
- Do not use it as a stool.
- Do not stand on it.
- Do not have it used by children or untrained people.
- Do not transport it dismantled or open.
- Do not charge the batteries with a battery charger other than the one supplied.
- Do not attempt to stop the propeller with your hands.
- Do not block the starter trigger when the switch is turned to on.
- Do not throw it off a boat or the shore.
- Do not dismantle it.
- Do not run it dry above water. Seal gaskets could rapidly deteriorate due to overheating.
- Battery connectors must never come into contact with water. This would rust the silver contact lining.
- Do not short circuit the battery.
- Do not remove wires from the connector or invert polarity.
- Do not get internal ADV parts and batteries wet.

16 Cleaning and storage
After scooter use, it is best to rinse it with fresh water (even if this is not mandatory). More resistant dirt can be cleaned using a neutral detergent. Before opening it, remove all salt and sand residues.
Do not use solvents or hydrocarbons.
The scooter must be stored in a cool, dry and ventilated place, vertically with the front facing up. The battery must be removed, charged and stored away from excessive heat and cold. Be careful since accidental contact with metallic objects in the connector is an easy cause of short circuit. The hull opening hand wheel must be loosened to avoid permanent deformations. Store it covered, if possible, to keep it away from dust.
Important note: always remove the batteries after use.
17 Easy inspect (visual engine hull inspection)
You can inspect the engine hull interior through the window on the engine compartment divider. This lets you check for any flooding following incorrect use. This system lets you make sure the scooter is in good working order before each dive.
17.1 Water in the engine compartment
If you see water in the engine compartment, stop using the scooter immediately and send it to a service centre for maintenance. If slight condensation appears in the engine compartment, especially near the inspection window, this may only be temporary and due to a sudden change in temperature. It should disappear with scooter use. Inform the service centre of any other situation that may not seem normal to receive assistance.
