Subdecay Studios – Noise Box NB2D -
Harmonic Frequency
Generator-
Your Noise Box pedal was hand made in
Newberg, Oregon with high quality
components. Thank you for purchasing
The Subdecay Noise Box.
What is The Noise Box?
The Noise Box is an envelope controlled
harmonic frequency generator for guitar
and bass. The basic idea is total sonic
chaos, but maintain a level of control,
and be musically useful.
The Noise Box is probably not like any
other stomp box you have tried. It’s not a
Fuzz Pedal. It’s not a ring modulator. It’s
not a guitar synth. However it does have
elements of all three of those effects.
Controls:
Freq.: Controls the resting point of the
frequency generator.
Sense: Controls how much of the effect
input will be used to drive the frequency
generator above its resting point.
Chaos: The Chaos control is a bit odd.
From the far left to just past the center it
acts as an attack control, speeding up
the reaction for the Sense control as it’s
turned to the right. As the knob
approaches the far right position the
sense control loses its ability to track
correctly, and will lead to more and more
random tones from the frequency
generator. With the Sense control
completely off the Chaos knob does
nothing.
Voice: This knob serves two separate
functions. Towards the center it filters
out the upper frequency range. Turned
to either side, it alternates between two
different outputs of the frequency
generator, which have different harmonic
contents.
Level: Controls the overall volume of the
effect.
Bias/Gate: (internal trim pot) Sets the
input level necessary to trigger
the Noise Box.
Battery:
To change the battery you must first
remove the 4 rear screws and the rear
cover. The battery should be placed next
to the switch in the battery compartment.
The battery should be able to slide in and
out with out any friction. If the battery
needs to be forced in to place, it could
damage the pedal.
Battery Life When using a battery always unplug
the instrument input to conserve
battery life. When a cable is
plugged in the pedal is always on,
even when bypassed.
Power:
The Noise Box can be powered by
standard 9 volt battery, or by a dedicated
Class 2 regulated 9 volt DC power supply
with a negative center 2.1mm barrel type
plug.
Current draw under normal operation is
less than 10mA @ 9VDC.
If using a “daisy chain” power supply all
other units on the power supply MUST be
negative ground.
