PLEASE NOTE: Your Stoll Gas Log Grate Heater must be assembled and installed correctly.
Please read and follow all instructions carefully. Incorrect assembly or installation coul d result in a damaged
Grate Heater and/or a dangerous condition. Failure to heed these warnings could result in a fire and/or loss of
life and property. If you do not feel confident that you are equipped to complete the assembly and the installation
properly please contact your Stoll Dealer to arrange professional installation.
If you have questions:

Unpack the Gas Log Grate Heater and identify all of the parts listed in the parts list above. Place the Gas Log Grate on a
flat surface with the manifolds facing toward you in preparation for assembly.
Thread the 2) ⅜” x 4” Leveling Bolts into tapped holes on the back of the Grate with the screw heads on top. (Figure 1)
Locate the electrical power source nearest the fireplace. The Blower can be installed on the left or right side of the Grate
Heater. The Blower, the Heat Transfer Plate, and Power Cord should be installed on the side closest to the wall outlet.
Remove cover from the Blower Assembly. (Figure 6) Install the Blower to the manifold on the side nearest the power
outlet. Tip the Grate up and fasten using 2) 1/4-20 screws through the blower flange into the manifold flange. (Figure 2)
Attach the Warm Air Outlet Vent Assembly to the other manifold with 2) 1/4-20 screws. (Figure 3)
Attach the Heat Transfer Plate (“L” shaped metal part) to the screws holding the thermal Snap Disk to the back side of the
blower housing using the two nuts provided. (Figure 4)
Slide the Rubber Grommet onto the Power Cord. Insert the Rubber Grommet into the cutout in the Switch Case nearest
the power outlet. Install the Rubber Plug into the unused cutout in the opposite end of the switch case. (Figure 5)
Connect the Power Cord to the Blower wiring. Connect Green to Green. Connect Power Cord White to Black from the
Blower. Connect Power Cord Black to Black from Speed Switch. See the Wiring Diagram (Figure 9) on Page 4.
Reinstall the Blower Assembly cover using the fasteners removed in Step 4. (Figure 6)
Assemble the Vent Trim Cover by sliding the two cover halves together and attach to the Gas Log Grate Heater. The
Vent Trim Cover must be trimmed to size. If the Gas Log Grate Heater is to be used with a fireplace enclosure, trim the
Vent Trim Cover to the same width as the fireplace enclosure. Alternately trim the Vent Trim Cover to the width of the
fireplace opening. Install the End Caps on the Vent Trim Cover with the cord cutout on the Blower end. (Figure 7)
Reinstall the Vent Trim Cover onto the Grate Heater and fasten securely with 2 screws. Install the Switch Knob.
NOTE: The Vent Trim Cover will not be used on Stoll Enclosures with laser cut vents in the frame.
Install the assembled Gas Log Grate Heater into the fireplace. Level the grate using the leg leveling bolts. (Figure 1)

Caution: Do not light a fire until you read and completely understand the Operating Instructions that follow. If you
have any questions or concerns, please contact your Stoll Fireplace Dealer or Stoll Fireplace, Inc. before proceeding.
GENERAL SAFEGUARDS:
Excessive heat can cause damage to the Gas Log Grate Heater. Very hot Gas Log fires can cause warping or other
damage and shorten the life of the Grate Heater if the Gas Logs are operated for extended periods of time. This type
of damage, caused by over-heating, is considered abuse and is not covered under warranty.
This Gas Log Grate Heater is intended for use with Gas Log sets only. Burning a wood fire on a Gas Log Grate
Heater is prohibited. Failure to heed this warnings could result in a damaged unit, or a serious fire and loss of life
and property.
Gas Log Grate Heaters are not designed for installation into factory built “zero-clearance” (ZC) fireplaces, in mobile
homes, or in conjunction with wood burning sets.
INSTALLATION:
Inspect the fireplace and the chimney flue for signs of loose mortar, damaged brick, and creosote build-up. If repairs
are indicated contact your Stoll Fireplace Dealer or a professional chimney sweep to arrange an inspection.
Center the assembled Gas Log Grate Heater in the fireplace opening. Check that the Grate is level side to side and
front to back. Adjust the leveling bolts on the back of the Grate as necessary. (Figure 1)
Install the gas log set on top of the Gas Log Grate Heater following the log set manufacturer’s recommendations.
Install the fireplace enclosure (not included). The fireplace enclosure rests on top of the Vent Trim Cover.* The Vent
Trim Cover should be flush with the face and ends of the fireplace enclosure. Carefully follow the manufacturer’s
instructions for installing and securing the fireplace enclosure in the fireplace.
* NOTE: Stoll Fireplace Enclosures with laser cut vents will conceal the Grate Heater vents behind the enclosure.
Plug the Grate Heater power cord into the nearest 110v electrical outlet.
OPERATION:
Caution: Not for use with Vent-Free Gas Logs.
Caution: Read and follow all Gas Log Manufacturer’s instructions for proper use of gas logs.
Caution: Do not burn gas logs on the Grate Heater with the blower turned off or during a power outage.
IMPORTANT: The Blower must be running when the gas log fire is burning. If the Blower fails or electrical power is
lost, turn off the gas logs and discontinue use until the Blower is repaired or power is restored. Keep the glass doors
open until residual heat has dissipated. Ignoring this advice can cause damage to the Grate Heater an d Blower.
The Blower is equipped with a temperature activated switch (Snap Disk) and a Variable Speed Switch.
○ The thermal Snap Disk will turn the Blower on when the switch heats to 110°F and off when it cools to 90°F.
○ The Variable Speed Switch regulates the speed of the blower and therefore the volume of warm air it delivers.
▪ Turn switch knob clockwise or counterclockwise to regulate the air flow and air temperature a t the vent.
▪ If the air coming from the air vent is too cool the blower speed is set too high relative to the fire.
NOTE: The Snap Disk provides the On/Off function for the Blower when it is working properly . The Variable Speed
Switch has an OFF position. Do not use the OFF function unless the Snap Disk fails and the blower continues to
run when the gas log has cooled. If the Snap Disk fails have it replaced immediately by your Authorized Stoll Dealer.
Adjust the gas log set to maintain small to medium fires. A gas log is capable of producing large amounts of heat
constantly. Full-on fires may be impressive but they waste fuel. A high fire can overheat and damage the Grate
Heater, the gas log set, and/or the enclosure frame, glass, finish, and/or discolor the metal. Damage caused by overheating is considered abuse and is not covered under warranty.
Keep the glass doors open and the screens closed when the gas log is burning. You will get the maximum radiant
heat from your fireplace with the glass doors open while the Gas Log Grate Heater provides warm convection air.
Upon retiring for the evening, or leaving the room for an extended period, the gas logs should be turned off. With the
gas logs off the glass doors can be closed to reduce heat loss up the chimney flue.
MAINTENANCE:
Caution: The Grate Heater and fireplace enclosure must be at room temperature before cleaning.
Disconnect the power cord from the electric source prior to performing any maintenance.
At the end of the burning season the Grate Heater can be painted with high temperature stove paint to control rusting
over the Summer if desired.
Follow manufacturer’s recommendations for annual maintenance of the gas log set.

Keep your glass doors closed when the fire is out.
Fireplaces are designed to draw air and smoke up the
chimney. Vented gas log installations require that the fireplace damper be fixed open at all times. The warm air
created by your heating system is going up the flue.
Closing the glass doors in your fireplace enclosure will
close off 99% of the fireplace opening and help stop heat
loss up the chimney.
In some cases the air flow in the chimney reverses and
cold air flows down the chimney. Glass doors help stop
the cold drafts. For more serious down-drafting Stoll
makes Air-Seal doors that are gasketed for a better seal.

Five Year Limited Warranty for Gas Log Grate Heater
Stoll Fireplace, Inc. warrants its Gas Log Grate Heater to be free from defects in metal materials and/
or workmanship, under normal use and conditions of service, for a period of five (5) years, subject to
the limitations outlined below. Electrical components are warranted to be free from defect in materials,
under normal use and conditions of service, for a period of one (1) year, subject to the limitations outlined below. This warranty is non-transferable and is extended exclusively for the benefit of the original purchaser beginning on the original date of retail sale. Stoll Fireplace, Inc. will, at its option, repair
or replace any part that fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship at no charge (exclusive of
freight) subject to the limitations of this warranty.
This warranty covers repair or replacement of parts only and applies exclusively to products purchased for consumer use. This warranty does not cover damage caused by transportation and/or
handling or which results from alteration, accident, misuse, abuse, or improper installation. It also
makes no warranty as to maximum temperature and stresses which may cause discoloration of metal
finishes, distortion of metal parts, glass breakage, or damage to electrical components.
This warranty constitutes the entire warranty with respect to Stoll Fireplace, Inc. and/or its products.
Stoll Fireplace, Inc. shall not be liable for consequential or indirect damages which are caused by defects in its product, by its repair or replacement. Stoll Fireplace, Inc. makes no other warranty, expressed or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, or warranty of fitness for a particular
purpose. Implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose which may arise
under state law are also limited in duration to five years from the original purchase of this product.
Some states do not allow such limitations, in which case this limitation may not apply. The consumer
may have other rights that vary from state to state.
If, during the warranty period, a product covered under this warranty proves to be defective in material
or workmanship, a claim for warranty service should be made through your authorized Stoll Fireplace
Dealer. Proof of purchase will be required. The authorized dealer will procure replacement parts and/
or contact Stoll Fireplace, Inc. if additional service is deemed necessary.
