1. INTENDED USE

1. The Electrical shredder is designated with a maximum power input of 2800W(P40). This
product is intended for reducing biodegradable,garden organic waste materials to smaller
pieces , such as leaves, small branches and grass, and used in a stationary position by an
operator standing on the ground.

2. This product is not intended for shredding pieces of metal, rocks, bottles, cans, etc. or soft
waste such as kitchen rubbish.

3. This product is for private light domestic use only in small spaces; it is not suitable for
commercial applications or for larger open spaces and should not be used for any purpose
other than described.

machine.
Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user
maintenance shall not be made by children.
Keep children and pets at a safe distance away from the device.
Local regulations or bylaws may determine the minimum age for using
the shredder.

TRAINING

a) Read the instructions carefully. Be familiar with the controls and the

correct use of the machine.

b) Never allow children or people unfamiliar with these instructions to

use the machine. Local regulations can restrict the age of the operator.

c) Keep in mind, that the operator or user is responsible for accidents or

hazards occurring to other people or their property.

PREPARATION

a) Obtain ear protection and safety glasses. Wear them at all times while

operating the machine.

b) While operating the machine always wear substantial footwear and

long trousers. Do not operate the machine when barefoot or wearing
open sandals. Avoid wearing clothing that is loose tting or that has
hanging cords or ties.

c) Operate the machine in a recommended position and only on a rm,

level surface.

d) Do not operate the machine on a paved or gravel surface where ejected

material could cause injury.

e) Before using, always visually inspect to see, that the shredding means,

shredding means bolts and other fasteners are secure, the housing is
undamaged and that guards and screens are in place. Replace worn
ordamaged components in sets to preserve balance. Replace damaged
or unreadable labels.

f) Before use check the supply and extension cord for signs of damage

or aging. If the cord becomes damaged during use, disconnect the
cord from the supply immediately. DO NOT TOUCH THE CORD BEFORE
DISCONNECTING THE SUPPLY. Do not use the machine if the cord is
damaged or worn.

g) Never operate the machine while people, especially children, or pets

are nearby.

OPERATION

a) Before starting the machine, make certain that the feeding chamber is

empty.
b) Keep your face and body away from the feed intake opening.
c) Do not allow hands or any other part of the body or clothing inside the

feeding chamber, discharge chute, or near any moving part.
d) Keep proper balance and footing at all times. Do not overreach. Never

stand at a higher level than the base of the machine when feeding

material into it.
e) Always stand clear of the discharge zone when operating this machine.
f) When feeding material into the machine be extremely careful that

pieces of metal, rocks, bottles, cans or other foreign objects are not

g) If the cutting mechanism strikes any foreign objects or if the machine

should start making any unusual noise or vibration, immediately

shut o the power source and allow the machine to stop. Disconnect

the machine from the supply and take the following steps before

restarting and operating the machine:
i) inspect for damage;
ii) replace or repair any damaged parts;
iii) check for and tighten any loose parts.
h) Do not allow processed material to build up in the discharge zone; this

may prevent proper discharge and can result in kickback of material

through the feed intake opening.
i) If the machine becomes clogged, shut-o the power source and

disconnect the machine from supply before cleaning debris.
j) Never operate the machine with defective guards or shields, or without

safety devices, for example debris collector in place.
k) Keep the power source clean of debris and other accumulations to

prevent damage to the power source or possible re.
l) Do not transport this machine while the power source is running.
m)Stop the machine, and remove plug from the socket. Make sure that all

moving parts have come to a complete stop

- whenever you leave the machine,

- before clearing blockages or unclogging chute,

- before checking, cleaning or working on the machine.
n) Do not tilt the machine while the power source is running.

MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE

a) When the machine is stopped for servicing, inspection, or storage,

or to change an accessory, shut o the power source, disconnect the

machine from the supply and make sure that all moving parts are

come to a complete stop. Allow the machine to cool before making

any inspections, adjustments, etc. Maintain the machine with care and

keep it clean.
b) Store the machine in a dry place out of the reach of children.
c) Always allow the machine to cool before storing.
d) When servicing the shredding means be aware that, even though the

power source is switched o due to the interlock feature of the guard,

the shredding means can still be moved.
e) Replace worn or damaged parts for safety. Use only genuine

replacement parts and accessorises.
f) Never attempt to override the interlocked feature of the guard.

a) Have your garden power tool serviced by a qualied repair person

using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety

of the garden power tool is maintained.
b) If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer

or its service agent in order to avoid a hazard.
C) If the carbon brushes need to be replaced, have this done by a qualied

repair person (always replace the two brushes at the same time).

VIBRATION AND NOISE REDUCTION

To reduce the impact of noise and vibration emission, limit the operating
time, use low-vibration and low-noise operating modes, and wear
personal protective equipment.
Take the following points into account to minimise the vibration and
noise exposure risks:

1. Only use the product as intended by its design and these instructions.

2. Ensure that the product is in good condition and well maintained.

3. Use correct attachments for the product and ensure they are in good

condition.

4. Keep tight grip on the handles/grip surface.

5. Maintain this product in accordance with these instructions and keep it

well lubricated (where appropriate).

6. Plan your work schedule to spread any high vibration tool use across a

longer period of time.

2. Switch o and disconnect from the power supply if there are

malfunctions. Have the product checked by a qualied professional

and repaired, if necessary, before you operate it again.

RESIDUAL RISKS

Even if you are operating this product in accordance with all the safety
requirements, potential risks of injury and damage remain. The following
dangers can arise in connection with the structure and design of this
product:

1. Health defects resulting from vibration emission if the product is

being used over long periods of time or not adequately managed and

properly maintained.

2. Injuries and damage to property due to broken cutting attachments or

the sudden impact of hidden objects during use.

3. Danger of injury and property damage caused by ying objects.

4. Prolonged use of this product exposes the operator to vibrations and

may produce ‘whitenger’ disease. In order to reduce the risk, please

wear gloves and keep your hands warm. If any of the ‘whitenger’

symptoms appear, seek medical advice immediately. ‘Whitenger’

symptoms include: numbness, loss of feeling, tingling, pricking, pain,

loss of strength, changes in skin colour or condition. These symptoms

normally appear in the ngers, hands or wrists. The risk increases at

Do not use appliance for a use other than the intended use.
Maintain labels and nameplates on the appliance. These carry important
safety information. If unreadable or missing, contact the point of
purchase for a replacement.
The warnings, precautions, and instructions discussed in this instruction
manual cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may
occur. It must be understood by the operator that common sense and
caution are factors which cannot be built into this product, but must be
supplied by the operator.
Before starting, ensure that the feed inlet is empty.
Always wear ear and eye protection and wear gloves during operation.
Longer material standing out from the shredder could lash out when
being pulled in by the blades. Keep a safe distance.
Ensure the ventilation slots are not covered.
Always wear substantial footwear and long trousers while operating the
machine.

ADVICE

- Do not overreach. Keep the balance at all times, to always be sure of

the footing on slopes. Walk, never run.

- Do not connect a damaged cord to the supply or touch a damaged cord

before it is disconnected from the supply for the reason that damaged

cords can lead to contact with live parts.

- Keep extension cords away from moving hazardous parts to avoid

damages to the cords which can lead to contact with live parts.

Before and after each use, check the product and accessories (or
attachments) for wear and damage. If required, exchange them for new
ones as described in this instruction manual. Observe the technical
requirements.
Be aware of the danger of moving hazardous parts.

The following part of this product may be replaced by the consumer.
Spare parts are available at an authorised dealer or through our customer

WARNING! For your safety, it is required that the plug attached

to this product is always connected to an extension cord! The
extension cord must be suitable for outdoor use with sockets protected
against water splashing! Ensure the extension cord is of the proper
size and type for your product (≥ 1.5mm2),which shall not less rubber
insulated, ordinary polychloroprene sheathed exible cord(code
designation (H05VV-F) and length should more than 10m.

The maximum permissible system impedance is Zmax<0.379Ω at
the interface point of the user’s supply. The user should determine in

are necessary.

The noise gures quoted are emission levels and are not necessarily safe working levels.
Factors that inuence the actual level of exposure of work-force include the characteristics
of the work room, the other sources of noise, etc. i.e. the number of machines and other
adjacent processes, and the length of time for which an operator is exposed to the noise.
Also the permissible exposure level can vary according to your country. This information,
however, will enable the user of the machine to make a better evaluation of the hazard and
risk.

6. DISPOSAL AND RECYCLING

The product comes in a package that protects it against damage during shipping.
Keep the package until you are sure that all parts have been delivered and the
product is function properly. Recycle the package afterwards.
Old products are potentially recyclable under Waste Electrical and Electronic

Equipment(WEEE)Directive(2012/19/EU) and do not, therefore, belong in your

As soon as you open the packaging, we recommend that you check to ensure that all elements
required for assembly of the product have been included, in order to do this, please refer to page
4 of this manual.

If the product is damaged or has some defects, please do not use it, and bring it back to the
nearest store.

This product is intended for outdoor use only, and must not be used inside a building under any
circumstances.

This product can be placed inside a building only after having rested for two hours after the last
use.

Warranty

STERWINS products are designed based on the most rigorous quality standards for products
intended for the general public.

The products are covered with a warranty of 3 years starting from the date of purchase. This
warranty covers all manufacturing or material defects.

In the event of a breakdown, please refer rst to the trouble shooting page (problems and
solutions) in the brochure; if the problem persists, please check with the nearest store.

Your store shall spare no eort in resolving the issue.
Repairs and change of parts do not extend the duration of the initial warranty.
Breakdowns resulting from normal wear and tear or from improper use of the product are

not covered by the warranty. This includes, among others, the switches, the safety circuit
breaker and the motors, in case of wear.

Please note that there are specic warranty terms for certain countries.
In case of doubt, please check with your point of sale.
For claims relating to the the warranty to be taken into account, the following is required:

That no deterioration has taken place as a result of incorrect setting of the carburettor

That there has been no forcing, improper handling, unauthorised use, or accidents

·

That no deterioration has taken place due to overheating, resulting from clogging of the

ventilator block.

That no work has been done on the product by an unskilled person, and no incorrect

repairs have been attempted.

·

That the tool/battery/charger have never been disassembled or opened.

·

That the tool/battery/charger have never been in a wet environment (dew, rain,

submerged in water...)

·

That no incorrect parts have been used, parts not made by STERWINS, whereas they

prove to be the cause of deterioration

·

That the tool has not been used improperly (overloading the tool, or use of non-approved

accessories).

·

That no damage has resulted from external causes, or foreign bodies such as sand or stones.

·

That no damage has resulted from non-compliance with safety recommendations and

use instructions.
