Staub Electronics EA-MR-SSVC-6 User Manual

SETTING THE EA-MR-SSVC-6 VOLUME CONTROLS
This procedure will allow you to properly set the volume of your system to avoid overdriving
the EA-MR-SSVC-6 and/or any connected speakers, and to avoid damage or amplier distortion (clipping).
1. Set receiver’s volume control to the minimum setting.
2. Turn each volume control on the EA-MR-SSVC-6 to its maximum setting.
3. Slowly turn the volume up on the receiver until the best maximum volume without distortion is achieved. Volume can be individually adjusted in any zone that’s connected to the EA-MR-SSVC-6.
4. The volume of each room can now be individually attenuated to achieve the proper listening
level in each room.

INTRODUCTION
The EA-MR-SSVC-6 is a resistor-based, impedance-matching speaker selector with independent volume controls. It offers 6 independent volume controls from one convenient location. Additionally, each pair of speakers can be selected On or Off independently in any combination without concern for amplier
impedance loading.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
• Safely connect and control up to six speaker pairs with one amplier
• Built- in automatic impedance protection circuitry engages without confusing buttons, switches or jumpers
• Individual zone On/Off control via the front mounted push buttons
• Individual zone Volume control via the front mounted 12 position rotary controls
• Detachable screw-type connectors, accepting 18 to 12 AWG speaker wire, provide sturdy hookup
to input and output wires
• Isolated left/right circuit grounds provide safe connection for ampliers with oating grounds or bridged conguration
• High-quality construction provides excellent reliability, accurate switching, and noise-free volume control
• Rubber feet prevent scratching and keep selector in place during operation
• Ideal for residential and light commercial applications where central control of all rooms is required
WIRING INSTRUCTIONS
The ES-MR-SSCV-6 connectors accept 18AWG to 12 AWG speaker wire for a variety of applications. You should always install speaker wire that is CL2 or CL3 rated when running it through walls.
Tip: Label all wires from each room and record which pair is connected to which zone before proceeding.
1. Turn off all equipment before making connections.
2. Lay out all wire runs from each speaker location and the receiver to the selector.
3. Remove the connectors from the selector.
4. Strip the wire no more than 1/4”, making sure all the
connections are secure and not shorting together at the appropriate connector screw down terminal. Ensure all strands of bare wire are completely inserted into the connector properly, and that no loose strands are shorting outside the connector. Any loose strands could possibly touch another wire and short the receiver’s output.
5. If connecting to a receiver that has both A & B outputs, connect the EA-MR-SSVC-6 to the receiver’s “A” output.
6. After you have tightened the screw terminals and securing the wires, insert the connector block back
into the selector as shown.
7. Connect the other end of the wire to the appropriate speaker locations. Observe the color coding and speaker polarity, and securely connect the wire so that the speaker wire is not shorting anywhere at the speaker connection.
