Introduction
Thank you for purchasing a StarTech.com USB Audio Adapter. Offering a simple way to add 5.1 channel sound to a computer without even having to open the case, this device is designed to provide maximum quality 5.1 Audio using a single USB port, eliminating the need to install a soundcard or make use of onboard audio capabilities.

System Requirements
An IBM-compatible PC, or Mac with an available USB port with one of the following operating systems installed:
Windows® 98/SE, Windows® ME, Windows® 2000, Windows® XP; Mac OS 10.1**
**Please note: When used with a Mac operating system, USBAUDIO5CH supports only 2-channel playback; Also, when used with a Mac-based system, the volume controls located on USBAUDIO5CH are inoperable.

Installation
Driver Installation
Windows® 2000/XP
With the computer in a powered state:
Insert the USB connector provided by USBAUDIO5CH into an available 1.
USB port on the host computer.
The operating system will detect that the device has been connected 2. and automatically begin the software installation process. When the Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard message appears, please select No, not this time and click Next:
On the screen that follows, please select 3. Install the software automatically (recommended) and click Next to proceed:

Once the necessary files have been copied, the Found New Hardware Wizard will notify you that it has ...finished installing the software for: USB Composite Device. Please click Finish to conclude driver installation.
Windows Vista™
Driver Installation on the Windows Vista™ operating system is fully automated. To initiate installation, simply connect USBAUDIO5CH to the host computer, and allow installation to complete. Following installation of the necessary files, you will see a message indicating that the ...software for this device has been successfully installed. Please click on Close to conclude driver installation:
Verifying Successful Driver Installation
Once the driver files have been installed, you may wish to verify that installation was successful. To do so:
Right-click on 1. My Computer (Computer, in Windows Vista™), and select Manage to open the Computer Management window.
In the left pane of the Computer Management window, select 2. Device Manager. In the right pane, click on Sound, Video and Game Controllers. If USBAUDIO5CH has been installed successfully, you will see USB Audio listed here:

Sound Station Software Utility
Please note: The Sound Station software utility is designed for use with a Microsoft® Windows Operating system. If you are using USBAUDIO5CH with a Mac-based computer, audio configuration must be done from within the operating system-based controls provided.
Once the USBAUDIO5CH adapter has been successfully connected to and installed on the desired computer, you can proceed with installing the included Sound Station software utility. To do so:
Insert the Software Installation CD into the CD/DVD-ROM drive on the 1. host computer.
Autorun should launch the installation utility. If it does not, please 2. browse to and execute the installation file, located in the folder titled: D:\AA1500AP Driver, where D:\ designates the location of your CD/ DVD-ROM drive. You can launch the utility by double-clicking on the SnxUA161 icon:
When the utility launches, the 3. Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard window will appear. Please click on Next to proceed.
The License Agreement will then appear; please review the 4. Agreement, and select Yes to proceed.
You will then be asked to specify the location where you wish to install 5. the software. To install the software in the default location, click Next. If you wish to designate another location for the software to be installed, please select Browse to do so manually (then click on Next).
The Sound Station software will then be installed. Once completed, 6. you will be notified that Setup has finished installing Sound Station on your computer. Please click on Finish to conclude installation.
You will be asked if you wish to Launch Sound Station. If you wish to configure the audio set­ tings at this time, please click OK. Otherwise, the utility can be accessed by double-clicking on the Sound Station icon in the taskbar.

Accessing Sound Station Configuration
To configure Sound Station to the desired settings, double-click on the Sound Station icon located in the taskbar, and selecting Open Setting.
From within the Configuration Utility, you will be able to change the necessary audio settings to suit any environment:
