Introduction
The StarTech.com USB 2.0 extender over Cat5 or Cat6 offers a simple USB extension, allowing you to place four USB 2.0 devices up to 100m/330ft away from the computer, which is more than 20 times longer than the normal USB cable length restrictions. The USB extender is comprised of both the Local and Remote units, which can be connected together using standard UTP Cat5, Cat5e, or Cat6 Ethernet cabling. Supporting full Hi-Speed USB 2.0 data transfer speeds up to 480Mbps, the extender is also backward compatible with USB 1.0/1.1 (1.1Mbps/12Mbps respectively).
