Note: The SV231MDPU2 KVM switch supports DisplayPort 1.2.

Installation
Hardware Installation
1. Connect a DisplayPort monitor into the DP OUT connector on the back of the KVM switch.
2. Connect a USB keyboard and mouse into the USB ports on the front of the KVM
switch.
3. Connect the included DisplayPort USB KVM cables to each PC, and then to the PC1
and PC2 ports on the back of the KVM switch.

4. (Optional) If you have another USB peripheral that you wish to share between the
connected computers, connect the USB peripheral to the USB hub port on the front of the KVM switch.
5. Turn on the rst computer or device; when it is nished starting up, make sure that
the keyboard and mouse are working properly.
6. When you have conrmed that the keyboard and mouse are working properly,
switch to the next port and repeat step 5.
You should be able to switch between ports now.
Notes
The KVM switch does not detect if connected systems are turned on or turned o, so if you switch to a computer that is turned o, nothing will be displayed on the monitor.
Where possible, we recommend that you use the same resolution for both connected systems to avoid changing the screen resolution when switching between ports.
Switch between computers
To switch between computers, do any of the following:
1. Press the PC select button on the KVM switch.
2. Download the switching software and use it on your computer to switch between connected computers.
3. Use hotkey switch commands. Note: Hotkey switch commands are only supported on computers running Windows.
Software Installation
The KVM switch oers optional switching software that can be used to switch between the connected PCs with a single click.
Supported operating systems
• Windows® 8 and Windows 8.1 (32/64 bit)
• Windows 7 (32/64 bit)
• Windows Vista® (32/64 bit)
• Windows® XP (32/64 bit)
• Mac OS 10.3 and later (tested up to 10.10)
Note: Regardless of the operating system that you use, you can switch between the connected PCs by using the select button on the front of the KVM switch or by using hotkeys.
1. Open a browser and navigate to www.startech.com/Downloads.
2. In the Enter Product ID eld, enter SV231MDPU2 and download the software.

Operation
Switching between systems
To switch between your connected systems, do any of the following:
• Press the SELECT button on the front of the KVM switch.
• Press Scroll Lock+Scroll Lock.
• If software is installed, click the green circular icon in the toolbar.

3. Browse to the location where you saved the le and run the Setup.exe (Windows)
or USB KVM.dmg (Mac OS) application.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
