About the LED indicator
The PIB2M21 has a yellow LED indicator that illuminates to indicate activity.
Install a drive in the converter
The provided drive-mounting hardware includes a drive-mounting screw, stando, and nut.
1. Depending on the length of the drive, you may need to move the preinstalled Drive-mounting hardware. Place the drive next to the converter and note the Drive-mounting hole that matches the length of your drive. If the Drive-mounting hardware is already installed in the correct position, proceed to step 4.
2. Use a small pair of pliers to remove the nut from the reverse side of the converter.
3. Place the nut and stando that you removed in the previous step in the Drive-mounting hole that matches the length of the drive, and tighten them in place.
4. Gently slide the M.2 SATA connector on the drive into the corresponding connector on the M.2 SATA port on the converter.
Note: The connector on the drive is keyed so that it only ts one way.
5. Place the drive-mounting screw through the notch in the drive and into the stando, and tighten the drive-mounting screw in place.
To remove a drive, use a screwdriver to remove the drive-mounting screw that is holding the drive in place and pull the drive out of the converter.
Install the converter
Warning! Drives and converters should be handled carefully,
especially when they’re transported. If you’re not careful with your drives, you may lose data as a result. Always handle storage devices with caution. Make sure that you’re properly grounded by wearing an anti-static strap when you install any computer component. If an anti-static strap isn’t available, touch a large, grounded metal surface for several seconds to discharge any built-up static electricity.
The provided adapter-mounting hardware includes screws, standos, and nuts.
1. Place the provided standos into the installation holes on the development board.
2. To ax the standos in place, screw the provided nuts onto the stando threads on the reverse side of the development board.
3. Line up the Installation holes on the converter with the standos axed to the development board.
4. Insert the provided screws into the Installation holes on the converter and into the standos, and tighten them in place.
5. Connect the provided USB-A to Micro-B cable to the USB 2.0 port on the converter and to the USB port on the development board.
