1. Make sure that your system is unplugged and you are grounded.
2. Remove the cover of your system (see your computer's user manual for details, if necessary) and gently turn your computer onto its side, so that the PCI expansion slot openings on the motherboard are facing upwards.
3. Locate an empty PCI slot (usually white in color) and remove the metal plate that covers the corresponding rear bracket. You may need a Phillips screwdriver to perform this step. Retain the screw! You will need it to secure the card later.
4. Gently insert the card into the empty slot, making sure it is firmly seated.
5. Secure the card in place using the screw you removed in Step 3.
6. Replace and secure the computer cover.
Installing the Drivers

1. Insert the installation CD that came with the card into your CD-ROM or other optical drive.
2. Execute the setup program by double clicking on the SETUP.EXE file, located in the D:\VIA\VT62X2 folder of the Driver Installation CD (Assuming your CDROM drive is Drive D).
3. Once the setup program launches, select Install USB Driver and press the Next button.
4. Follow the setup program instructions and prompts, in order to finish installing the EHCI drivers. Once the drivers are installed, you will be required to restart Windows.

Serial Bus Controllers, you should notice a listing for the newly installed EHCI drivers. Please note that following the hardware installation, but prior to the software installation, a yellow question mark will appear next to VIA Tech 3038 PCI to USB Universal Host Controller item. Upon successful completion of the drivers, this question mark will disappear. If the question mark is still present, please re-initiate the software installation process.
Windows 2000/XP/2003
Please note: Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and 2003 natively support the USB interface.
As such, Windows will be able to locate and install the necessary files, providing that your operating system is updated with the most current software revisions.
If Windows appears to have difficulty in automatically choosing the necessary drivers, the following updates will be required, prior to using the card:
Windows XP - Service Pack 1 (SP1)
Windows 2000 - Service Pack 4 (SP4) or above
For more detailed information on how to attain the necessary updates, please consult any documentation that was included with your operating system purchase.
