Introduction
Thank you for purchasing a StarTech.com USB 2.0 PCI card. This PCI expansion card
will enable you to add highspeed USB 2.0 ports to your computer, and provide
data transfer speeds up to 480 Mbps. Now, you can easily connect and use highperformance USB peripherals like DVD drives, video conferencing cameras, or high
resolution scanners. Plus, USB 2.0 is also backwards-compatible with USB 1.0/1.1,
meaning your existing peripherals will still function perfectly with no additional
conguration required.

Installation
1. Make sure that your system is unplugged and you are grounded.
2. Remove the cover of your system (see your computer’s user manual for details, if
necessary) and gently turn your computer onto its side, so that the PCI expansion
slot openings on the motherboard are facing upwards.
3. Locate an empty PCI slot (usually white in color) and remove the metal plate that
covers the corresponding rear bracket.You may need a Phillips screwdriver to
perform this step. Retain the screw! You will need it to secure the card later.
4. Gently insert the card into the empty slot, making sure it is rmly seated.
5. Secure the card in place using the screw you removed in Step 3.
6. Replace and secure the computer cover.
Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista/7
Please note: Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and 2003 natively support the USB interface.
As such, Windows will be able to locate and install the necessary les, providing that
your operating system is updated with the most current software revisions.
If Windows appears to have diculty in automatically choosing the necessary drivers,
the following updates will be required, prior to using the card:
Windows XP - Service Pack 1 (SP1)
Windows 2000 - Service Pack 4 (SP4) or above
For more detailed information on how to attain the necessary updates, please consult
any documentation that was included with your operating system purchase.
