Before You Begin
To ensure a quick and easy device installation, please read through this section carefully before attempting to install the device.
WARNING! Hard drives require careful handling, especially when being transported. If you are not careful with your hard disk, lost data may result. Always handle your hard drive and the storage device with caution. Hard drives, like all computer equipment, can be severely damaged by static electricity. StarTech.com recommends that you wear an anti-static strap when installing any computer component. If an anti-static strap is unavailable, discharge yourself of any static electricity build-up by touching a large grounded metal surface (such as the computer case) for several seconds. Do not bump, jar, or drop the device. Do not set any liquids near the product: if spilled they could damage the internal electronics. Do not disconnect any cables or power sources while the hard drive is active: this can result in data loss and possible damage to the hard drive. Always make sure that your hard drive is fully spun down before removing the device.
