Introduction
The StarTech.com 1-Port eSATA ExpressCard adapter lets laptop and small form factor computer
users experience the high performance capabilities of eSATA external storage with data transfer
rates of up to 3Gbps, as well as Port Multiplier capability with command-based switching for
connecting multiple external hard drives to a host PC or Mac notebook through a single eSATA
connection.

Installation
Hardware Installation
The ExpressCard adapter will simply slide into the ExpressCard slot on any compatible system.
Push the card all the way in, until it ‘clicks’ and locks into place. To eject the card, simply push the
card further into the slot until it clicks, and then release and it will then be ejected from the slot.
NOTE: Some ExpressCard/54 slots do not rmly hold an ExpressCard/34 module, so a 34mm to
54mm stabilizer bracket may be necessary (StarTech.com ID: ECBRACKET).

Driver Installation
Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista
1. After the hardware installation, Windows will detect the card, and a dialog box named Add
New Hardware Wizard will show on the screen.
2. After the Found New Hardware wizard appears on the screen, insert the Driver CD into your
CD-ROM drive. If you are prompted to connect to Windows Update, please select the “No,
not this time” option and click “Next”.
3. Select the option “Install Drivers Automatically (Recommended)” and then click the “Next”
button.
4. Windows should now start searching for the drivers on the CD. Once this has completed, click
the “Finish” button.
Windows Vista
1. When the Found New Hardware window appears on the screen, click on the “Locate and
install drivers software (recommended)” option. If prompted to search online, select the
“Don’t search online” option.
2. When prompted to insert the disc, insert the Driver CD that came with the card, into your
CD-ROM drive and Windows will automatically proceed to search the CD.
3. If a Windows Security dialog window appears, click the “Install this driver software anyway”
option to proceed.
4. Once the driver is installed, click the “Close” button.

Verifying Installation
Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista
From the main desktop, right-click on “My Computer” (“Computer” in Vista), then select Manage.
In the new Computer Management window, select Device Manager from the left window panel.

Double-click on the “SCSI and RAID Controllers” option (“Storage Controllers” in Vista). There
should be a device listed that contains “Silicon Image SiI3132” or similar in it’s name.
