Before You Begin
To ensure a quick and easy case assembly, please read through the following instructions before assembling your case.
WARNING: Do not attempt to install any computer components with the system plugged in. Never open your computer case when your system is turned on. Always
make sure that the computer is off and unplugged before attempting to assemble or alter your computer. Computer equipment can also be severely damaged by static
electricity. Be sure that you are properly grounded before opening your computer case or touching any components. StarTech.com recommends that you wear an anti-static strap when installing any computer equipment. If an anti-static strap is unavailable, discharge yourself of any static electricity build-up by touching a large grounded metal surface (such as the computer case) for several seconds. Also be careful to handle cards and motherboards by their edges and not the gold connectors.

System Requirements
This case does NOT come with a motherboard, power supply, hard or floppy disk drives, sound cards, I/O cards or any other computer component not listed above. You will need to supply these components yourself.
NOTE: When purchasing a motherboard for this case, make sure that the motherboard uses the same external/internal connections as the ATXSILENT. If your motherboard does not match the case, you may not be able to use some of the front ports.
Installing Your Components
Install your internal components according to their manufacturer’s instructions. The ATXSILENT can support full-sized dual-processor ATX motherboards and ATX power supplies. The following are installation hints and suggestions that you might find useful.
Motherboards: The clamshell contains motherboard standoffs, screws, and buffers (red circles). Be sure to place the buffers between the motherboard and the screws. Remember to follow the manufacturer’s instructions and ensure that all your components are properly connected.
Power Supplies: The ATXSILENT supports ATX power supplies. To complement the ATXSILENT, StarTech.com recommends using a silent power supply, like the StarTech.com ATXPOW350SL. To further dampen the noise of your power supply, you can use some of the pads in the clamshell.
Peel the paper off the back of the power supply anti-vibration pad and stick the pad to your power supply. Make sure you stick the pad to the side of the power supply that will be facing the rear of the case. You can also stick the two rectangular anti-vibration pads on the underside of the power supply to prevent vibration against the “lip” of the case.
The pads will act as a buffer between the power supply and the case, preventing vibration.
Place the pad on your power supply, making sure that the fan is not blocked.
4
Fans: As with power supplies, StarTech.com recommends using silent case fans (like the StarTech.com FAN8X25TX3L) to maximize the effectiveness of your silent case. To further dampen the noise and vibration from your fans, you can use the triangular fan antivibration pads in the clamshell.
Peel the paper off the back of the fan anti-vibration pad. Place one anti-vibration pad on each corner of the fan, making sure that you have placed the pads on the side of the fan that will be in contact with the wall of the case. The pads will act as a buffer between the fan and the case to prevent vibration.
When installing rear fans, you can use the round black rubber rings to prevent vibration. Place a rubber ring on the outside of your case so that the ring is between the head of the screw and the case.
Disk Drives: The hard drive cage is removable with a thumbscrew. You may find it easier to remove the drive cage before installing your hard drives. The screws in the clamshell are color-coded to help make drive installation easier. Make sure you follow manufacturer’s instructions when installing and connecting your disk drives.
Other Accessories: Also in the clamshell are optional accessories that can help you organize the inside of your case. You can remove the sticker from the cable holder, secure it to your case, and run your cables through it to keep them organized. You can also use the cable ties to group cables to keep them organized and neat.
Stick a triangular pad on each corner of your fan

Using Your Front Ports
First, make sure that the cables from your front USB 2.0 and audio ports are connected to your motherboard. Make sure that the IDE cable from the front IDE port is connected to an IDE port on your motherboard. If your cables are not connected properly, your front ports will not work. Check with your motherboard manufacturer for specifics on connecting your front ports.
To open the front port panel, push on the door gently, then release. You can plug your USB 2.0 or audio devices into the front ports and use them as normal.
Using the Front IDE Port
You can use the front IDE port to connect your IDE hard drives for making backups or for testing. Use the provided IDE cable and power adapter to connect your hard drive to the front IDE port.
