Installation
Hardware Installation
1. Power o the printer that will be used with the print server and leave the print
server power adapter disconnected.
2. Connect your printer to the USB port on the print server.
3. Power on your printer so it is ready for use.
4. Connect the Power Adapter to the print server - the Power LED will light up. When
the LAN indicator lights up, the print server is correctly connected to the network.
Software Installation
To congure the print server to be used from a PC or Mac, you will rst need to install
the included software, outlined in the steps below.
Windows
1. Connect a Cat 5 (or better) Ethernet cable to the LAN port on the print server, then
to your router / network.
Note: Initial conguration must be done from a wired connection. Once the device
has been connected to an existing access point and set with proper IP settings for
your wireless network, the LAN cable can be disconnected.
2. From your computer that is connected to the same router/network, insert the
included CD into your CD/DVD drive.
3. Browse to the “Windows” folder and run the Setup.exe application.

4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
5. Start the USB Device Server Control Center to search for available print servers on
the network.
6. Select your print server from the list and click Congure Server.
7. Login with your username / password (Default: admin / admin).
8. Congure your desired IP address (Static / DHCP), user account name / password
and security settings.
Note: To prevent unauthorized access / changes to the print server, it is
recommended to change the default username / password for logging into the
device, and to enable encryption on the wireless connection.
9. If you want to connect the print server to the network wirelessly, click the Connect to Another AP button to view a list of available networks and choose the access
point you would like the server to connect to.

10. Once the wireless connection has been established, the LAN cable can be
disconnected from the print server.

Mac OS
1. Connect a Cat 5 (or better) Ethernet cable to the LAN port on the print server, then

3. Browse to your DVD/CD-ROM drive, then to the “Mac OS” folder on the disc.
4. Mount the StarTech.com USB Device Server Control Center Installer.dmg le,
and then run the StarTech.com USB Device Server Control Center Installer.pkg
application to start the install.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
6. Start the USB Device Server Control Center to search for available print servers on
the network.
7. Select your print server from the list and click the Home button to congure the
server.
8. Login with your username / password (Default: admin / admin).
9. Congure your desired IP address (Static / DHCP), user account name / password
and security settings.
Note: To prevent unauthorized access / changes to the print server, it is
recommended to change the default username / password for logging into the
device, and to enable encryption on the wireless connection.

10. If you want to connect the print server to the network wirelessly, click the

Operation
Printing Using AirPrint™
AirPrint is an Apple technology that lets you print wirelessly from your iOS device,
without the need to download or install drivers.
Supported devices:
• iPad (all models)
• iPhone (3GS or later)
• iPod touch (3rd generation or later)
1. Ensure that your iOS device is connected to the same wireless access point that the print server is using.
2. Tap the or icons, which are at the bottom of your screen.
3. Tap the printer icon ( ).
4. Choose your printer, the number of copies you want, and then tap Print.
Note: If you are printing for the rst time, ensure that you are within range of your printer. All AirPrintenabled printers within range will be displayed.
Adding a Printer
Windows
1. Start the USB Device Server Control Center software and allow it to nd the print
server on your LAN / Wireless connection.
2. Select the printer that you would like to connect and click the Connect button to
automatically map the network printer. If this is the rst time you’re connecting the
printer, Windows may take a moment to install the printer and detect / prompt for
drivers.

Note: Only one PC at a time can Connect the printer using this method
3. Once you are done using the printer, click the Disconnect button.
Auto-Connecting the Printer
The print server also supports an Auto-Connect function so that you don’t have to
connect / disconnect manually, after the driver for the printer has been installed (i.e.
after the rst manual connect operation or physical connection to the computer).
1. In the USB Device Server Control Center Software, click Auto-Connect Printer, then Set Auto-Connect Printer.
2. In the window that opens, select your printer and click Apply.
3. When you send a print job, the software will automatically connect the printer
and send the print job to it, as long as the control center software is running.
Mac OS
1. Start the USB Device Server Control Center software and allow it to nd the print
server on your LAN / Wireless connection.
2. Select the printer that you would like to connect and click the Connect button to
