MOD-TELSPA
APPLICATION:
Provides remote telephone operation for Compool control systems. The MOD-TELSPA can be set to
either turn on the “Spa” or “Pool Heater”.

Provides remote telephone operation for Compool control systems. The MOD-TELSPA can be set to
either turn on the “Spa” or “Pool Heater”.
Compatible with the following control systems:
CP3400/TX or CP3400/TLX
CP3600/TX or CP3600/TLX
CP3800/TX or CP3800/TLX
ALL IntelliTouch Systems
CP3810/S or CP3810/SL
CP3820/SX or CP3820/SLX
CP3830/SX or CP3830/SLX
INSTALLATION:
The MOD-TELSPA installs into the low voltage compartment of the power center and is connected
to the circuit board marked “PHONE”. A telephone line is then connected to the MOD-TELSPA unit.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:
CONTROLLING THE SPA FROM INSIDE THE HOME:
Take the telephone off the hook. Press the “S”, “P”, and “A” keys. Listen for the confirming beeps:
• 2 beeps indicate the spa has been turned on.
• 3 beeps indicate the spa has been turned off.
CONTROLLING THE SPA FROM OUTSIDE THE HOME:
Call your house. After 5 rings the MOD-TELSPA will pick-up and respond with 5 short beeps.
Press the “S”, “P”, and “A” keys. Listen for the confirming beeps:
• 2 beeps indicate the spa has been turned on.
• 3 beeps indicate the spa has been turned off.
Note:
If turning on the pool heater is desired, the jumpers located on the power center circuit board need
to be put in the “POOL HEAT” positions. Pressing the “H”, “T”, and “R” keys on the phone would
now operate the pool heat source key.

INTERNAL ANSWERING MACHINE:
If you have an answering machine at your house, the MOD-TELSPA can still be used. It will listen for
your command in the background. Simply press ‘772’ and listen for the acknowledgment beeps.

EXTERNAL VOICE MAIL:
If you have an outside answering service with the phone company, then a feature called “Call Twice”
must be used. This feature changes the MOD-TELSPA so that it will pick up after one ring.
In order to change to “Call Twice” mode, remove the cover of MOD-TELSPA unit and turn
DIP switch number 2 ON.
Default Positions:
1 OFF
2 OFF
3 ON
Call Twice Positions:
1 OFF
2 ON
3 ON
EXTERNAL VOICE MAIL:
If you have an outside answering service with the phone company, then a feature called “Call Twice”
must be used. This feature changes the MOD-TELSPA so that it will pick up after one ring.
In order to change to “Call Twice” mode, remove the cover of MOD-TELSPA unit and turn
DIP switch number 2 ON.
Default Positions:
1 OFF
2 OFF
3 ON
Call Twice Positions:
1 OFF

To use the “Call Twice” feature, call once and hang up after one ring, wait at least 6 seconds but no
more than 25 seconds and call again, the MOD-TELSPA will answer after one ring and acknowledge
with 5 beeps.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
• Make sure the “REMOTE CONTROL AT SPA” button on the indoor control panel is ON.
• Verify that you have a working telephone line by installing a phone in place of the
MOD-TELSPA unit. You should be able to call that phone and hear it ring.
• Verify the MOD-TELSPA detects a ring signal, the L.E.D. turns yellow when a ring signal is
detected.
• Make sure there is a wired telephone line going out to the equipment pad. High voltage line carrier
boxes that eliminate a wired phone line will not work.
