Model #FM3669 Headlight Flasher w/DRL
The FM3669 headlight flasher is designed to work on both two and four
headlight systems on any vehicle w ith a 12 VDC negative ground system
and positive side switched headlights.
A properly installed FM3669 Flasher will add Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) to the
vehicle and will alternate the vehicle's high beam lights at 1.9 flashes per second.
When used at night, the low beam headlights remain ON for proper illumination while
the high beams flash to gain attention and increase the vehicle's visibility. When the
dimmer switch is activated to high beam, the flasher system "High Beam Override"
interrupts the flasher sequence to allow for normal high beam function. Flashing
automatically resumes when the dimmer switch is deactivated. Any time the vehicle
is running, the flasher will automatically turn OFF the vehicle's DRL when the flasher
PLEASE NOTE
Flashing Headlight and Taillight Systems are intended for use on approved
vehicles ONLY. It is the responsibility of the user of these systems to insure
compliance to any Federal, State or Municipal regulations which may apply.
NON-COMPATIBLE FLASHER VEHICLE
This Flasher WILL NOT work on vehicles with ground side
switched headlights. This includes:
Most Japanese Vehicles
All GM Cars & Light Trucks 1997 and Later
Saturn ALL
Chrysler Sebring 1997 and Newer
Dodge Avenger 1997 and Newer
Dodge Ram 1997 and Newer
CAUTION: This flasher unit is designed for use on headlights totaling
a maximum of 100 watts each side (10 amps per side).
PLEASE NOTE: This unit will not work on vehicles with ground side
Covered by U.S. Patents #4114071 & #4309639.

Mount the supplied headlight flasher unit in a well ventilated area, typically close to the battery at
the front of the engine compartment.
Connect the wires from the flasher as follows:
Green : Connect to Ground - Connect this wire to a good chassis ground. In some
cases it might be necessary to scrape away a small amount of paint or
anodized material to obtain a good, reliable ground connection. If the vehicle’s
headlights automatically come on and do not flash while the ignition switch is
turned on (regardless of position of the on/off switch for the flasher), this is
an indication that there might be a poor ground connection to the flasher unit.
Please Note: Always connect the Green wire FIRST when installing and
disconnect LAST when removing.
Blue & Yellow : Connect to High Beam Headlights - These wires will provide the wig-wag
function and/or the DRL function to your high beam headlights. Locate the
wire supplying power to the passenger side high beam light. Cut this wire
near the headlight and connect the Yellow wire from the flasher unit to the
short lead from the headlight. Connect the Blue wire from the flasher unit to
the other half of the wire you just cut. It is very important that the Blue
wire be connected to the side that receives power from the high
beam switch.
Red : Connect to Switched Power - Connect the Red wire to the switch you will use
to control your flasher. (Available from Star - Part #SP3860-1). Only ¼ amp is
required on this wire to activate the flasher.
White : Connect to +12VDC - Connect through a 20 AMP fuse directly to the positive
side of the battery or another high current power source. Note: Do not
connect the White wire to the Red wire. The White wire must maintain a
constant supply of power while the Red wire will be connected to your
switched power. This wire supplies power to the flasher.
Orange : Connect to +12VDC/Marker Lights - Connect one Orange wire through a 20
AMP fuse directly to the positive side of the battery or another high current
power source. Note: Do not connect the Orange wire to the Red wire. The
Orange wire must maintain a constant supply of power while the Red wire will
be connected to your switched power.
Connect the other Orange wire to one of the “Hot” side marker/parking light
wires. This will automatically turn your marker/parking lights on when the
vehicle is started.
White w/Red Stripe : Connect to Ignition – Connect the White w/Red Stripe wire to an ignition
switched power source. This will switch the DRL function (including the
associated marker light function) on and off with the vehicle. There is
typically an 8-10 second delay before the DRL function is actually
activated.
Please Note: The optional headlight flasher function will remain
operational even if the ignition is switched off.
Gray : Connect to Low Beams – This wire provides the signal to deactivate the DRL
function (including the associated marker light function) when your low beam
headlights are turned on. Please note: On most vehicles, activating the low
beams will also activate your marker lights. This wire will not affect that
feature.
Black : Optional/Connect to Gray Wire - If you need an “Automatic Nighttime Cutoff”,
connect the Black wire to the Gray wire. This feature will automatically
disable the flasher unit any time your headlights are on. Most applications
would not require this feature. If you are not using this feature, simply
connect the Black wire with the Green wire and attach them both to a good
chassis ground.
Pink : Optional/Connect to the HOT Side of a User Supplied Switch – You may
connect the Pink wire to the park brake switch, or the neutral safety switch.
When the pink wire is grounded through one of the switches, the DRL
function and marker lights will be deactivated.
