Personal Electronics Charger, do not use this device with this vehicle

• Never attempt to patch the fuse with tin foil or wire.

• This unit is rated to draw up to 2 amperes from a 12V vehicle outlet. Ensure

that the engine system in your vehicle can supply sufficient energy to the
unit without causing the vehicle accessory outlet fuse to open. Information
on the vehicle accessory fuse ratings are typically found in the vehicle
operator’s manual.

• Make sure that the 12 volt outlet is free of debris and the Personal

Electronics Charger fits tightly in the outlet.

operating your vehicle. Not paying attention to the road may result in a

Personal Electronics Charger.

Mobile Phones

Some mobile phone leads do not allow charging from a standard USB port.
Check with the mobile phone manufacturer before using the phone with this
charger.

Rechargeable Devices

If there is any sign that your appliance is behaving differently when plugged
into this charger than it does when connected to the usual power source,
unplug the appliance and seek advice from the appliance manufacturer.

POWER SOURCE REQUIREMENTS

The power source must provide 12 VDC and must be able to supply the
necessary current to operate the load.

CAUTION: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF PROPERTY DAMAGE:

• The charger must be connected only to batteries with a nominal output
voltage of 12 Volts. The appliance will not operate from a 6 Volt battery and
will sustain permanent damage if connected to a 24 Volt battery.

• Always connect the charger to the 12 volt DC power source before plugging
any devices into the unit.

• Do not attach a USB hub to this unit to allow additional items to be added.

To prevent damage, the unit will shut down if it is overloaded. To restart the
unit you must remove it from the power source, wait for a few seconds and
then re-insert the unit into the power source.

• Do not use with positive ground electrical systems.*

*The majority of modern automobiles, RVs and trucks are negative ground.

• Reverse polarity connection will result in a blown fuse and may cause
permanent damage to the unit and will void warranty.

• DO NOT OPEN THIS UNIT — there are no user-serviceable parts inside.
Opening the unit will void manufacturer’s warranty.

• Do not use this unit with medical devices. It is not tested for medical
applications.

• Do not use this unit on a watercraft. It is not qualified for marine
applications.

• Check the unit periodically for wear and tear. Return to manufacturer for
replacement of worn or defective parts immediately.

• Install and operate only as described in this Instruction Manual.

INTRODUCTION

Congratulations on purchasing your new Stanley USB Personal Electronics
Charger. Read this Instruction Manual and follow the instructions

carefully before using this unit.

HOW THIS CHARGER WORKS

Your USB charger is designed to convert 12 Vdc to 5 Vdc. It allows the 12 Vdc in
an automobile to supply 5 Vdc power to operate equipment that is normally
supplied from a USB power source. The charging cable specifically designed for
the electronic device being charged is required. May not work for all electronic
devices. This product is intended for consumer use only.

Overload/Short Circuit Protection — The charger will automatically shut
down when a short circuit occurs. A reverse polarity or short circuit condition
may cause irreversible damage to the appliance.

IMPORTANT:

The Power/Fault LED Indicator will light red to indicate a Fault condition before
automatic shutdown occurs.

If unit shuts down, to restart it you must remove it from the power source,
wait for a few seconds and then re-insert the unit into the power source.

OPERATING TIPS

The charger should only be operated in locations that are:
DRY — Do not allow water or other liquids to come into contact with the

charger.
COOL — Surrounding air temperature should ideally be 10-20°C (50-68°F).

Keep the charger away from direct sunlight, when possible.
WELL-VENTILATED — Keep the area surrounding the charger clear to ensure

free air circulation around the unit. Do not place items on or over the charger
during operation. The unit will shut down if the internal temperature gets too
hot. The charger will auto-reset after it cools down.

SAFE — Do not use the charger near flammable materials or in any locations
that may accumulate flammable fumes or gases. This is an electrical appliance
that can briefly spark when electrical connections are made or broken.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Storage

1. Idealstoragetemperaturerangeis 0-40°C (32-104°F).

2. Store and use the PIUSB2S in a cool, dry place with adequate ventilation
for all-around air circulation.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

The tip of the plug is positive (+) and the side contact is negative (–).

1. Connect the unit to a vehicle’s accessory outlet or other 12 volt DC power
source. Make sure there is adequate space for proper ventilation of the
charger.

2. Rotate the unit slightly to make sure there is good contact.

3. The Power/Fault LED Indicator will light blue, indicating a proper
connection.

• If the Power/Fault LED Indicator lights red, a Fault condition exists.

Refer to the Troubleshooting Section of this Instruction Manual.

• If the charger does not work, make sure the ignition/accessory

outlet is powering the accessory outlet. Some vehicles require the
ignition switch to be turned on.

4. Plug the USB-powered device into one of the USB Charging Ports and
operate normally.

Notes:

This unit’s USB Charging Ports do not support data communication. They
only provide 5 volts DC/2A power (as indicated) to an external USB-powered
device.

Remember to disconnect the charger from any power source when not in use.

PROTECTIVE FEATURES

The charger monitors the following conditions:
Low Battery Voltage — This condition is not harmful to the charger,

but could damage the power source, so the charger will automatically shut
down when input voltage drops below 11.0 ± 0.5 volts DC. The charger will
automatically reset when the voltage improves to 11.5V.

ONEYEAR LIMITED WARRANTY

The manufacturer warrants this product against defects in materials and
workmanship for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of retail purchase by
the original end-user purchaser (“Warranty Period”).

If there is a defect and a valid claim is received within the Warranty Period, the
defective product can be replaced or repaired in the following ways: (1) Return
the product to the manufacturer for repair or replacement at manufacturer’s
option. Proof of purchase may be required by manufacturer. (2) Return
the product to the retailer where product was purchased for an exchange
(provided that the store is a participating retailer). Returns to retailer should
be made within the time period of the retailer’s return policy for exchanges
only (usually 30 to 90 days after the sale). Proof of purchase may be required.
Please check with the retailer for their specific return policy regarding returns
that are beyond the time set for exchanges.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Common Problems

Power/Fault LED Indicator is not lit

• Check that all the DC connections are connected correctly.

• Check the tightness of the DC connection.

Note:

Make sure that your accessory outlet is “live”. You may need to turn the
ignition key to the accessory position.

Power/Fault LED Indicator lights red

When the Power/Fault LED Indicator turns from blue (indicating the unit is
powered) to red, a fault condition is present and the unit will automatically
shut down. See the Protective Features Section of this Instruction Manual and
Common Power Output Problems in the following section.

Common Power Output Problems

Battery voltage below 11.0 volts

Recharge battery or check DC power supply.

Equipment being operated draws too much power

Reduce load to maximum 10 watts. Although this unit has two outlets, some
devices can draw 10 watts from a single outlet. Connecting another device to
the second outlet in this case would create an overload condition and cause
the charger to shut down.

Charger in thermal shutdown condition

Allow charger to cool down. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the
load is no more than 10 watts for continuous operation.

Felicitaciones por adquirir su nuevo Cargador para Productos Electrónico
Personal USB de Stanley. Lea este manual y siga las instrucciones

CÓMO FUNCIONA ESTE CARGADOR

El cargador USB de Black & Decker está diseñado para convertir la corriente
de 12 voltios CC a 5 voltios CC. Éste permite que la corriente de 12 voltios CC
de un automóvil suministre energía de 5 voltios CC para operar equipos que
se alimentan normalmente desde una fuente de energía USB. Se requiere el

Algunos vehículos requieren que el interruptor de ignición esté
encendido.

4. Enchufe el dispositivo alimentado por USB en el puerto de carga USB y

El Puerto de carga USB del cargador no admite comunicación de datos. Sólo

CARACTERÍSTICAS DE PROTECCIÓN

El cargador supervisa las siguientes condiciones:
Voltaje bajo de la batería: este estado no es perjudicial para el cargador,

pero puede dañar la fuente de energía, de modo que el cargador se apagará
automáticamente cuando el voltaje de entrada disminuya a una CD de 11,0
± 0,3 voltios. El cargador se reiniciará automáticamente cuando el voltaje se
recupere a 11,5 V.

Protección contra sobrecarga/cortocircuito: el cargador se apagará
automáticamente cuando ocurra un cortocircuito. Una condición de polaridad
inversa o cortocircuito puede ocasionar daños irreversibles a la unidad.

IMPORTANTE:

El indicador LED de energía/falla se encenderá en rojo para indicar una
condición de falla antes de que se produzca el apagado automático.

Si la unidad se apaga, para reiniciarla debe desconectarla de la fuente de
poder, esperar unos segundos y luego reconectar la unidad a la fuente de
poder.

REQUISITOS DE LA FUENTE DE ENERGÍA

La fuente de energía debe proporcionar 12 voltios CC y debe ser capaz de
suministrar la corriente necesaria para operar la carga.

PRECAUCIÓN: PARA REDUCIR EL RIESGO DE DAÑO A LA PROPIEDAD:

• El cargador debe conectarse solamente a baterías con un voltaje de salida

2. Gire la unidad levemente para asegurarse de que haya un buen contacto.

3. El indicador LED de energía/falla e encenderá azul para indicar que existe

una conexión correcta.

• Si el indicador LED de energía/falla se enciende en rojo, existe

una condición de falla. Consulte la sección Detección de problemas de

• Si el cargador no funciona, asegúrese de que el tomacorriente de

ignición/accesorios esté alimentando al tomacorriente de accesorios.

RESOLUCIÓN DE PROBLEMAS

Problemas frecuentes

Indicador LED de energía/falla no está encendido

• Verifique que todas las conexiones CC estén enchufadas correctamente.

• Verifique el ajuste de la conexión de CC.

Nota:

Asegúrese de que el tomacorriente de accesorios tenga corriente eléctrica. Es

posible que necesite girar la llave de ignición a la posición de accesorios.

Indicador LED de energía/falla se enciende en rojo

Cuando el indicador LED de energía/falla cambia de azul (indicando que la
unidad está energizada) a rojo, existe una condición de falla y la unidad se

Problemas frecuentes de salida de energía

Voltaje de la batería inferior a 11,0 voltios

Recargue la batería o compruebe la fuente de energía de CC.

Reduzca la carga al máximo 10 vatios. Aunque esta unidad tenga dos enchufes,
algunos dispositivos pueden extraer 10 vatios de una salida única. La conexión
de otro dispositivo con el segundo enchufe en este caso crearía una condición
de sobrecarga y haría el cargador cerrar.

El cargador está en la condición de apagado térmico

Permita que el cargador se enfríe. Asegúrese de que haya una ventilación
adecuada alrededor de la unidad y que la carga no sea superior a 10 vatios
para un funcionamiento continuo.

SUGERENCIAS DE OPERACIÓN

El cargador sólo debe operarse en lugares:
SECOS: No permita que el agua u otros líquidos entren en contacto con el

cargador.
FRESCOS: La temperatura ambiente debe estar entre 10 y 20 °C (50 y 68 °F).

Mantenga el cargador lejos de la luz solar directa siempre que sea posible.
BIEN VENTILADOS: Mantenga el área que rodea el cargador limpia para

garantizar la libre circulación de aire alrededor de la unidad. No coloque
artículos en o sobre el cargador durante su funcionamiento. La unidad se
apagará si la temperatura interna se eleva demasiado. El cargador se reiniciará
automáticamente después de enfriarse.

SEGUROS: No utilice el cargador cerca de materiales inflamables o en lugares
donde se puedan acumular vapores o gases inflamables. Éste es un aparato
eléctrico que puede generar chispas durante breves períodos si se establecen
conexiones eléctricas o éstas se rompen.

Almacenamiento

1. La temperatura ideal de almacenamiento varía entre 0 °C y 40 °C (32 °F y

104 °F).

2. Guarde y utilice el PIUSB2S en un lugar fresco y seco, con una ventilación

adecuada que permita una buena circulación de aire.

3. Evite los lugares expuestos a unidades de calefacción, radiadores, luz solar

directa o humedad en exceso.

El fusible en el enchufe accesorio del enchufe de la CC es usuario-reemplazable.
Cerciórese de a primero desconectan el enchufe del enchufe de cualquier
fuente de la potencia CC de 12 voltios; entonces substituya el fusible por uno
del mismo grado y tipo.
