Cleaning
Unplug the equipment from the electr ical outlet before cleaning the equipment, accessories, or attachments. Do not use liquid cleaners or aero­sol cleaners.
Environment

Place this equipment in an environment that pro vides proper ventilation. Do not place this equip ment near or over a radiator or heat register.
Power Sources
Operatethisequipmentonly from the type ofpower source indicated on the label on the back panel.
Grounding or Polarization
This equipment is shipped with a polarized ACline plug (a plug with one blade wider than the other). This plug will only fit into the electrical outlet one way. This is a safety feature.If you are unable to in sert the plug into an outlet, try reversingthe plug. If the plug still does not fit, contact your electrician to replacetheobsoleteoutlet.Donotdefeatthesafety purpose of the polarized plug.
Power Cord Protection
Routepowersupplycordssothattheyarenotlikely tobe walkedon or pinched byitemsplacedupon or against them. Pay particular attention to cords at plugs,receptacles,andoutlets,and the pointwhere they exit from the unit.

Accessories and Attachments
Only use accessories and attachments recom mended by SCC. Using accessories and attach ments not recommended by SCC may be hazardous to the equipment and/or the operator.
Water and Moisture
Do not operate this equipment in high-humidity ar eas.
Location
Install this equipment only in a mounting rack rec ommendedbySCC.Thisequipment,and/oracces sories and attachments, must be installed as described in Chapter4 of thismanual.Donot place this equipment on an unstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket,or table.The unit may fall, causing serious personnel injury and serious damage to the unit.
Ventilation
Donotblockorcoverslots oropeningsinthisequip ment.Thesefeatures are providedfor ventilation to protect the equipment from overheating.

Be sure that the outdoor components of the an tenna system are grounded in accordance with lo cal, Federal, and National Electric Code (NEC) requirements.Payparticularattention to NEC Sec tions810-21,820-22,and820-40.SeeChapter4in this manual for a typical grounding setup.
Lightning
For added protection during a lightning storm, or when the equipment is left unattended and unused forlongperiods of time,unplug the equipment from the outlet and disconnect the lines between this equipment and the antenna subsystem. This will prevent damage to the equipment that could be caused by lightning or power line surges.
Power Lines
Do not locatethe antenna subsystem in thevicinity of overhead power lines or other electric light or power circuits, or where it can fall into such power lines or circuits. When installing the antenna sub system,takeextremecaretopreventtouchingsuch

power lines or circuits. Contact with power lines or circuits can be fatal.
Overloading
Do not overload electrical outlets or extension cords. This practice can result in a risk of fire or electric shock.
Improper Adjustments
Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operatinginstructions in this manual.Any improper adjustment of other controls may damage or misalign the equipment, and often requires exten sive work by a qualified technician to restore the equipment to its normal operation.

Solid and Liquid Contamination
Never push foreign objects of any kind into this equipment through openings in the equipment. Such objects may touch points where dangerous voltage is present. In addition, foreign objects can short out parts, and may result in a fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of any kind on or into the equipment.
Note to CATV System Installers
This reminder is provided to call your attention to NEC Articles 810-21, 820-22, and 820-40, which provide guidelines forproper grounding. In particu lar,thesearticles specifythatthecablegroundshall be connected to the building ground system as close to the point ofcable entr y as practical.Refer to Chapter 4 for installation instructions.
Servicing
The followingare conditions that may indicate the equipment requires servicing. Unplug theequipment from the electrical outlet, and refer servicing to qualifiedSCC service personnel. Opening or removing cov­ers may expose you to dangerous voltages.
If the power supply cord or plug is damaged.
If liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen into the equipment.

If the equipment has been exposed to rain or water.
If the equipment does not operate normally by following the operating instructions.
If the equipment has been dropped or the cabinet has been damaged.
If the equipment exhibits a distinct change in performance.
Replacement Parts
When replacement parts are required, ensurethat the service technician only uses replacement parts recom mendedbySCC.Unauthorizedsubstitutionsmayresultinfire,electric shock,orimproperoperation oftheunit.

Safety Checks
Uponcompletion of any serviceorrepair to the equipment,askthe servicetechnicianto perform safety checks to determine that the equipment is in proper operating condition.
