Note: before you use
the
card in
your
PowerBook G4
computer,you
mustdothe
following
on a Windows-
based
PC
(described below):
If
you've received
the
card
from
Sprint activated
and locked: unlock
the
card
If
your
card has
not
been activated: activate
it
To use
your
Sprint
PCS
Connection Card,
you'll
need:
A PowerBook G4 computer
withaPC
Card
(PCMCIA
card) slot, runningMacOSXversion
10.4.7 or higher. To check
your
version,
from
the
Apple menu ( ' ) choose
About
This Mac.Ifyour
version is earlier,
then
visit: www.apple.com/support/downloads for
upgrading instructions, or, in Finder", choose
GO>Applications> System Preferences
Setting up
the
Windows
PC
You
will
need a Windows-basedPCwithaPC
Card
slot, running Windows 2000
(with
ServicePack1 or
later) or Windows
XP.
Write
down
your
card's
ESN
(the
ll-digit
number
on
the
backofyour
card)
Install
the
Sprint
PCS
Connection Manager"
software on
the
WindowsPC(if
you're using
Windows 2000 you
must
log in
with
administra-
tive
privileges)
• Insert
theCDinto
the
Windows
PC
• GotoMy
Computer and select
your
CDDrive
(0:) (where D is
your
CD-ROMdrive letter)
• Follow
the
instrunctions displayed on
the
screen.When prompted, insert
the
card
Warning! When inserting or removing
your
card,
always grip
it
by its sides.Gripping
the
card by its
antenna may damage
the
card.
If
your
card is already activated and locked:
After
Windows installs
the
drivers
for
the
card, Sprint Connection Manager should start automatically, and display"Card
Locked."
Unlock
the
card:
If
Sprint Connection Manageris
not
expanded,
click
+
to
expand
it
Click
the
~
icon
In
the
Enter User LockCode
window,
enter
the
lock
code,and click OK.The icon should
now
be
~
.
You can
now
use
the
card on
your
PowerBook
computer
If
your
card is
not
activated:
You
will
additionally need atelephone.
After
Windows installs
the
drivers
for
the
card,
the
Activa-
tion
Wizard should start automatically.
Ensureyou have
the
items listed on
the
screen and
call
the
phone
number
listed
Follow
the
instructionsofthe
Sprint Customer
Servicespecialist
to
activate
your
card.
Write
down
this
information:

Toend
your
network
connedion:
From
the
menu, choose Disconnect
Toconnect
to
the
Sprint Nationwide
PCS
Network:
From
the
menu, choose Connect. Onceyou're
connected
to
the
network,
the
menu bar shows
additional icons, and
the
amount
oftime
you've
been connected. The
up/down
arrows indicate
data being transferred
to/from
the
network
After
Sprint sets up
your
account on
the
network,
your
card is activated and ready
for
useon
your
G4
computer.

G4" below.

computer (for example,
WWAN, WiFi, Bluetooth, VPN)

PCS
Connection Card
from
your

End
your
network
connection, as described above
Selectthe Turn Sprint Card
Offoptionfrom the menu

ejector, eject
the
Sprint
PCS
Connection Card
from
thePCCard slot

Careand maintenance As
with
any electronic device,
the
Sprint
PCS
Connec-
tion
Card
must
be handled
with
caretoensure reliable operation. Followthese guidelines in using and storing
the
card:
Do
not
applyadhesive labelstothe
card
Forcards
that
have an antenna,
optimal
signal
strength is usuallyobtained when
the
antenna is
perpendicular
to
the
card.The antenna should
turn
easily at
the
hinge. Donotforcefullyturn the antenna
Thecard should
fit easily
into
thePCCard slot.
Forcing
the
card
into
the
slot may damage connec-
tor
pins
Proctect
the
card
from
liquids, dust, and excessive
heat
When
the
card is
not
connectedtoyour
computer,
store
the
card in a safe place
