Information Sheet: SHIFT FORK SPRING PIN INSTALLATION
Affected Models: Various Dana Diff Lock models
Dana diff lock design shift forks utilize a spring pin to hold the sliding clutch onto the shift fork. If removing or assembling
the spring pin, shift fork or sliding clutch follow the procedures below.
Note: In some Dana Shift Fork kits or sub-assemblies, the spring pin may have been “pre-installed” into the shift fork so the pin is not lost in
shipping. Be sure to follow and complete the “assembly” procedures when installing the sliding clutch onto the shift fork.
• Disassembly: Use a pin punch to remove spring pin from the fork leg. Remove sliding clutch.
• Assembly: To assemble the individual parts (shift fork, spring pin & sliding clutch), insert the shift fork onto the sliding
clutch. Using a hammer, drive the spring pin thru shift fork pin hole opening until flush to the outer portion of the shift
fork surface. This will lock the sliding clutch in place.
